Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

Thanks again everyone, let me or Josh know if you have any questions!

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry
General Information

Hi CAGs,
I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs).

I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. If I don't respond to a question you have in thread please send me a PM. These ping my email address and make it more likely that I will see your question and respond more quickly.

Cheers,
Tony

FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam.
F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.

5. Price Matching notes: Generally we do not match international retailers (GMG, Gamersgate, etc) or physical retailers (Best Buy, Newegg.com, etc.)
To check out the Free-2-Play games we offer you can visit our storefront here: Free-2-Play Store

Well, Indiana Jones itself wasn't anything original as it was based on the action serials of the 30's and 40's.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2760172/?ref_=tt_ep_ep5

For those of you who have Netflix Watch Instantly (and for those who don't, shame on you).

It does a decent job of rounding up all/most the cinematic and real world inspirations for Indiana Jones, despite what Georgie Boy claims.

crimsonassassin, I love my PSP Go.

Before buying it though, you've got to add the cost of necessary add-ons.

1. Cradle (dock)

2. PSP original Power Supply for cradle, PSP Go PSU doesn't fit the cradle.

3. Component out cables (RGB)

4. 16 Gb expansion memory card

5. PS3 Controller, for playing games on your TV.  Yes the PS3 controller works great on the PSP go.

OR, you can take all that $$ and put it towards a Vita. I love my go, but will likely grab a vita in the near future. :whistle2:D

Just a PSA for those who have a Kickstarter account; it was hacked Wednesday, so change your passwords:

Important Kickstarter Security Notice
I'm glad my cheapness knows no bounds, don't have an account there

but to be fair, at least

Besides you owning one and Neuro - who are the other Vita owners? ;)
I own one, haven't played it in a year.

And then there were eight...
make that nine

insert animated gif of medieval guy getting crushed by boulder here.

Fake CAG Alert! A real CAG is too busy backlogging games to bother with Netflix.

Free OTA TV > Pay TV
I have to have something to do while I'm not playing games I've bought. Just because I'm cheap, doesn't mean I'm poor, so fuck OTA tv.

Actually, I watch this on repeat, ALL DAY, EVERY DAY... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgMAz5XP7Jk

Damn, I've been away from CAG for a couple days and forgot all about the Bureau sale. Hop back on at 11:30PM Sunday here (the 16th), read all the posts saying it sold out, search both XCOM and Bureau in topic search and it only comes back with posts from January (really, CAG?), so I'm sure I'm boned. Then I hop on Amazon, still in stock, still $5, bought! Thanks Tony.

Then again, will I ever play this game? Only Tebow knows.

Yeah, people thought it sold out because it was late going live - around 5 hours late IIRC. It's still available for $5 ATM if anyone else slept on it.

ATM probably doesn't stand for either of the two things I can think of (money machine and porno.) No idea what it is you're referring to by it, though.

Oh. At The Moment. Heh. Yeah, it is, isn't it?

Edit:

Wow@this review on Amazon:

I imagine that's exactly how this game came to be. 2K games was in the maternity ward, Firaxis Games at her side, both awaiting the arrival of their second XCOM child. "It's Beautiful," said 2K as she passed the child to Firaxis for inspection... but then.... then Firaxis started noticing that the child looked a lot like Mass Effect. "It's in your head," 2K repeatedly assured him. But he couldn't shake it, and eventually 2K sobbingly confessed to one night... a drunken mistake with Mass Effect. "I want no part in it!" screamed Firaxis as he stormed out of 2K's life. Alas, what's bad for Firaxis and 2K's overly-contrived-metaphorical marriage isn't necessarily bad for us.

Will Premium for BF3 work in Europe? Is It working with every copy of BF3 on Origin?

As for Bureau I think that it's really underrated.Great tactical gameplay with amazing setting.Story and dialogue have its weak points but overall its really nice game. Its nothing amazing but its really enjoyable game.

I liked bureau too

not a  masterpiece but not as bad as reviews imply

for $5 Id give it a shot especially if you want to fight sectoids sectopods etc up close and personal

After finishing The Bureau last night I'd say it was decent. While the story and characters seemed a bit cobbled together, I had some fun shooting the Outsiders up and close. For $5 it's worth it if you're into the XCOM universe and such.

I find it funny no ones talking about the fact we finally got a deal on KoA complete for STEAM. IIRC everyone was begging for that during the EC Promo

I don't think Tony posted it yet, that might be why.. and most people don't check the OP. There are also many people that bought it on Steam when it was 70% off. Most RU traders were selling it for $8 so it was a bit cheaper then.

Sorry just updated the OP :).

Not everyone. A smal vocal Steam or GTFO minority that refused to bite on many good deals on the Origin version in the past 18 months. Also these mostly would have jumped at Steam's recent sale. (Even Mooby did.)

I bought the KoA collection in the Steam thread for $9 a week back. So I'm good.

But thanks for the deal Tony!

I find it funny that both of these are in OP:

and a few lines later

By the way, did EA just out of the blue say, "here, we got some steam keys for Amalur for you to sell", or what? Kind of curious how that went. It couldn't have been easyfor them to finally claim their illegitimate/ugly baby. Not that it's a bad game, it's great! I so far played a few dozen hours, still didn't even finish the main questline.

Bought it via shady dealings during the Steam sale for about $6 base game + Derp Kel.  I honestly wouldn't recommend any of the DLC.  Not that it's bad it's that you'll be well sick of the game before then.  And the quests themselves are kind of... sterile and generic.

I wound up with an extra set of games from the EC sales:

Enslaved and Inversion - $2.70

Inversion - $1.35

These games are at the price I paid for them and am offering them for any of the regulars who missed the sale before I put them up on the trade thread in 24 hours.  Amazon GCs only.

Amazon is two steps late (as usual) on Amular, that ship has sailed for nearly everyone that wanted it. Here's some crap indie keys to pair with the "deals".

I have to agree with you on the first part of the sentence, although I'm rather negative, I have to admit better later than never.

Just my humble opinion.

lol ea u heard is cutting crapgin out and making everything steamworks and now crysis 3 complete and dead space 3 complete is coming soon on steam for 40 bucks but if u buy it when it comes out at 5bucks only totla he h

I'm thinking after the failed auction, Rhode Island sold EA the rights to sell the Steam version for a certain period of time either for a lump sum or a percentage of the deal.

Any chance you'll also have the Origin versions of Amalur up for sale as well?

I ask because I'm still saddled with owning just the base version of Amalur on Origin and would like to purchase the DLC.

BUYER BEWARE: Unlike the version for sale on Steam, Kingdom of Amalur Complete Edition on Amazon is MISSING Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Weapons & Armor Bundle

:whistle2:(
