F.A.Q's

What is Amazon Warehouse Deals?
From Amazon: Get deep discounts on open-box, like-new, refurbished, or used products that are in good condition but do not meet Amazon.com's rigorous standards as "new".

Warehouse Deals is part of amazon that has open box, new but with damaged packaging product aka "dinger" and trade ins in generally like new condition. They are considered 3rd party by affiliation and as such the "Amazon Warehouse Deals" distinction but are still part of Amazon.

What is AmazonSmile?

About AmazonSmile

Is the Amazon Warehouse Deals return policy the same as Amazon's return policy?
Yes! All purchases are eligible for Amazon customer service and 30 day return policy.

I'm using the games sort by console link, and the games will not sort by price properly. What is wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong, the sort by price feature on Amazon is broken during restocks and or when pricing algorithm goes haywire. During those times, prices don't adjust and assimilate with the current inventory quickly enough to show the sorting as such

I'm waiting for a ps4, xb1, 360, ps3, 3ds, or PS Vita to pop up.. What time do they usually appear?
They can show up any time, the best way to find it is have the item tabbed on your browser, and download an auto refresh app and frequently check it, and or set alerts... Sometimes they will not pop up on amazon warehouse deals storefront, you will need to check the "used" section of the item

Why did all the prices of games randomly jump up?
Games on warehouse deals generally go on a cycle. They will get extremely low, great deals.. Then they will jump back up and restart the cycle of falling in price again.

I have a gaming credit and/or an Amazon gift card. Can both of these be applied to Warehouse Deals orders?
Gift cards can be applied to orders made on warehouse deals, however video game credit is only good for items shipped and sold by "amazon.com", warehouse deals does not count as this.

What was Penny Deals?
In early September of 2011, tons of newer release, more expensive games popped up for 1 penny each. Many CAG members placed orders, expecting them to get cancelled. Some were cancelled, however many CAGS got a large amount of games for a penny each. There has been no confirmation what exactly happened and why these games were sold for a penny.

What is this "glitch deals" that I keep hearing about in this thread?

On August 7th, 2014, AWD glitched out similar to how it did around penny deals, except lot of stuff went for cheap instead for a penny. The pricing algorithm went haywire and in the process lot of stuff went for cheap across the AWD spectrum from games to iphones to tablets and everything else in between. The "glitch deal" lasted for maybe a couple of hours and fellow CAGs that were around during that time made out like a bandit. Below is the timeline leading up to the night and the deals that went down on that night.

What do you mean by a "dinger"?
Dinger = Item is new but the packaging is damaged in some way or form.

These are speculative guesses at best going by descritption of any given item and also taking into account the length of time an item has been out since its release. Shorter the span of time from release of a game or console, better the chance of scoring a new item with damaged packaging aka "dinger".

What condition are products from Warehouse Deals generally in?
First and foremost all games from AWD are considered used unless specified as new. Usually, games are re-shrinked wrap and depending on condition they can be perfect / brand new, brand new with damaged packaging aka "dinger" to just a game in a generic case. AWD has 5 condition criteria for their listings and they are:

New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened video game in perfect condition in its original packaging and with all original packaging materials included.

Like New: An apparently unopened video game in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The box and item are pristine, with no signs of wear. Suitable for presenting as a gift. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Very Good: A well-cared-for video game that has been played but remains in great condition. The game and its original packaging are complete and slightly worn, but unmarked and undamaged. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Good: The video game shows wear from consistent use, but remains in good condition. There may be clear external signs of wear and damage to the original packaging or instructions, but the game plays perfectly. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Acceptable: The video game is fairly worn, but it continues to work perfectly. The box and instructions may be missing or damaged. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Sellers are required to note whether the box or instructions are missing in the condition notes field for the item. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Any game I have personally ever bought in good or above condition has been in near mint condition. Acceptable ones have been a gamble. Getting DLC with games has also been a gamble and since AWD games are considered used, don't expect unused DLC even though there will be occassions where they may come unused. In regards to DLC, ymmv. Conditon wise, some people have reported that games were scratched with stickers on the insert. Consoles are also usually reported in like new or new condition with box damage. Rarely, a console may be missing a key component such as a power brick. Games listed in "acceptable" condition likely have very beaten up cases, or are missing cases and inserts, and are in not so great condition, but generally have a working game disc. Consoles listed in "acceptable" conditon can be either new in damaged packaging and or a pure gamble in what conditon they will truly be in along with what is included in the box depending on the time frame from release of the console.

Here is an example of a like new handheld (PS Vita) - Thanks Slixshot

You should get a prepaid plan and pay for the phone up front if possible. 2 year contracts are a huge waste of money for most people.  Also... Iphone master race. Even gamestop agrees with the trade in values built in.

I know this is a video games thread, but can someone recommend me a good smart phone off of amazon warehouse deals? I'm in the market for a new phone and don't really know where to start. I have a hand me down T-Mobile HTC from my uncle, but it's getting really worn down. Battery barely lasts and it gets really hot/suffers from a multitude of other issues.

I'm willing to spend up to $250 or $300 if it's REALLY awesome. If anyone could help me pick one out, that'd be awesome.
depends on what service provider you are using, like t-mobike, verizon, at&t. some phone models are exclusive to the service provider

Get a Nexus 4 (you can find a 16GB on Amazon from 3rd parties for $200). I have it and it is great. Everything runs on it, there are no slow downs and it's made by Google so you can expect the best. Remember Nexus products are unlocked and can be used on any network.

For your price range, I'd also go for the LG G2.

might as well wait for a price drop on lg g3, it is far superior if you are getting an lg g2. otherwise nexus 4 is good

Considering price, you can get an unlocked Nexus 4 (used as it's discontinued since the Nexus 5 is out) for $200 or an unlocked G3 for $600. G3 is obviously better (as it's current, N4 came out over a year ago) but the Nexus 4 can still handle anything you throw at it with no problem.

If you want a phone that will run greatly with no problems at a cheap price, get a N4. If you have money to spend or like being on a contract get a G3 as it is better and has much more features.

http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/LG-G2,Google-Nexus-4/phones/7969,7531

Notice that the G2 has slightly (as in barely noticable) better specs but that doesn't mean it is best (watch a review of both). Used G2 goes for over $300. Used N4 goes for $200.

Like ybx87 said, are you looking at gsm [sim] (t-mobile, at&t, etc. or cdma [no sim] (sprint, verizon, etc.) phones. Thanks to the new law, any phone can be unlocked via the carrier so you can still pick carrier locked phones and get them unlocked (if they aren't unlocked already). What remains to be decided is are you going Apple or Android or any other os.

As far as 4s goes, they are the earliest of the ones supporting Siri so they are still in the current Apple eco system currently being supported by there os updates and not bad for starters.

but nexus 4 does not have the best quality, alot of issues tho like charging , and stuff. even though it is manufactur by lg as well. lg g3 is probably the best phone right now produce by lg

I have one. I've never had an issue. No charging issues (first I'm hearing about that). Thing runs like a champ.

LG G3 is the better choice, I'm not saying it's not. For his price range, he can get a Nexus 4 for $200 and it will run anything with no issue... or a G3 for $600 (unlocked, I'm comparing it like this as the N4 is unlocked as well). Either that or get it on a contract and hope its value stays good for 2 years.

Well, if it will last me a good while, I might splurge and get a LG G3. I'm kind of tired of having really old phones, lol. Don't really want to get roped into a 2-year contract. I already have a no contract thing with T-Mobile, but I would be open to switching.

Are there generally black Friday sales on these things or should I just get one now?

there are a few black friday sales, so if you can hold off, i would

For the ultra cheapie, low end, don't-use-data-on-phone-when outside I own a LG F6 and L70 I got from MetroPCS for $50-70 each.  They unlock for $2 and work with any GSM provider (I use t-mobile prepaid), I put in $50 or so a year and get more than enough minutes to talk and text to whom i need to when out and about.

at home/stores it works fine on Wifi, I have no data plan though so I can't do data stuff like browse the web while stuck in traffic or at the top of Mount Himalaya.  Wifi is available at a ton of places now, like every starbucks, Target, Best Buy, etc.  the whole thing only cost me $50 upfront and $20-50/year depending on how many minutes I use.  Latest versions of android and all the goodies, except the gamestop TIV app which still doesn't have an android version :(

for high end my wife uses Verizon iphone, it cost her like $0 up front but she pays ... $70 / month? or so with like 10gb of data, both our kids are also on a family plan with it (adding like $20/ea with more gigs of shared data), I hate the idea of spending $1k/year on goddamn phones but I got overruled on it.

edit: you mentioned you are on t-mobile prepaid.  Most newer phones will require MicroSIM card, you can get one at a store for $10 or sometimes t-mobile has a deal online where you can buy a new microsim card for a penny.  After you get it in and put it in your new phone, you call t-mobile customer service (611 on old phone) and transfer your account to your new SIM card, works painlessly and is done within 5 minutes.  For post-paid t-mobile customers its a DIY at http://t-mobile.com/SIM but for pre-paid t-mobile you have to call it in.

but before you get your new phone, i would suggest not putting the phone in your pocket.

I don't understand why people keep doing that crap. They get all defensive about it too. "No one got hurt and I'm helping people by posting." It's not going to do someone a lot of good when parts of his or her body get crushed because some moron couldn't put down his phone while moving a ton of metal because he just had to check on a deal and just had to post about it.

well, i have idiots literally ram into me on streets while walking, while they are too busy look at their phone

If you can't text and drive then you have bigger problems to worry about....

It's no different than doing anything else while driving, just don't suck at it...

You guys are taking this way out of proportion. I was at a red light. I looked up a AWD it was first page. Went over to cag and posted. Then green and back to driving. Stop this nonsense before it gets out of hand like usual get back on track with the thread.

This isn't this place for the argument. But I feel burrito man and apologize if what I did rubbed you the wrong way.

I'm guilty of it and I really need to do better. If I do it's normally on the highway with no cars in sight or when I am first in a line of cars going red light to red light.

It's not good to do that either way.

This is the internet. We need someone to look down on and belittle to feel better about ourselves. Look on the bright side, you won't be compelled to take your attention away from the two ton death machine you're driving when the thread has blown it out of proportion and turned you into another super hilarious inside joke.

It's ok dude, you made a mistake, people do it, but people also can get hurt by those actions.

It's easy to mess with your stuff while driving, I agree.

I'm not trying to be an ass, I want to keep everyone here out of my situation.

People get spooked when they see a green light or someone honks behind them too. They hit the gas and lose control in less than a second. Just put the damn phone away. If you feel compelled to look at your phone, pull over.

In other news, I'm sitting in my room where I can't kill someone while I type this and I can't figure out what to do next in Portal 2.

The Cave Johnson dialogue sucks, but Simmons is awesome.
