F.A.Q's

What is Amazon Warehouse Deals?
From Amazon: Get deep discounts on open-box, like-new, refurbished, or used products that are in good condition but do not meet Amazon.com's rigorous standards as "new".

Warehouse Deals is part of amazon that has open box, new but with damaged packaging product aka "dinger" and trade ins in generally like new condition. They are considered 3rd party by affiliation and as such the "Amazon Warehouse Deals" distinction but are still part of Amazon.

What is AmazonSmile?

About AmazonSmile

Is the Amazon Warehouse Deals return policy the same as Amazon's return policy?
Yes! All purchases are eligible for Amazon customer service and 30 day return policy.

I'm using the games sort by console link, and the games will not sort by price properly. What is wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong, the sort by price feature on Amazon is broken during restocks and or when pricing algorithm goes haywire. During those times, prices don't adjust and assimilate with the current inventory quickly enough to show the sorting as such

I'm waiting for a ps4, xb1, 360, ps3, 3ds, or PS Vita to pop up.. What time do they usually appear?
They can show up any time, the best way to find it is have the item tabbed on your browser, and download an auto refresh app and frequently check it, and or set alerts... Sometimes they will not pop up on amazon warehouse deals storefront, you will need to check the "used" section of the item

Why did all the prices of games randomly jump up?
Games on warehouse deals generally go on a cycle. They will get extremely low, great deals.. Then they will jump back up and restart the cycle of falling in price again.

I have a gaming credit and/or an Amazon gift card. Can both of these be applied to Warehouse Deals orders?
Gift cards can be applied to orders made on warehouse deals, however video game credit is only good for items shipped and sold by "amazon.com", warehouse deals does not count as this.

What was Penny Deals?
In early September of 2011, tons of newer release, more expensive games popped up for 1 penny each. Many CAG members placed orders, expecting them to get cancelled. Some were cancelled, however many CAGS got a large amount of games for a penny each. There has been no confirmation what exactly happened and why these games were sold for a penny.

What is this "glitch deals" that I keep hearing about in this thread?

On August 7th, 2014, AWD glitched out similar to how it did around penny deals, except lot of stuff went for cheap instead for a penny. The pricing algorithm went haywire and in the process lot of stuff went for cheap across the AWD spectrum from games to iphones to tablets and everything else in between. The "glitch deal" lasted for maybe a couple of hours and fellow CAGs that were around during that time made out like a bandit. Below is the timeline leading up to the night and the deals that went down on that night.

What do you mean by a "dinger"?
Dinger = Item is new but the packaging is damaged in some way or form.

These are speculative guesses at best going by descritption of any given item and also taking into account the length of time an item has been out since its release. Shorter the span of time from release of a game or console, better the chance of scoring a new item with damaged packaging aka "dinger".

What condition are products from Warehouse Deals generally in?
First and foremost all games from AWD are considered used unless specified as new. Usually, games are re-shrinked wrap and depending on condition they can be perfect / brand new, brand new with damaged packaging aka "dinger" to just a game in a generic case. AWD has 5 condition criteria for their listings and they are:

New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened video game in perfect condition in its original packaging and with all original packaging materials included.

Like New: An apparently unopened video game in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The box and item are pristine, with no signs of wear. Suitable for presenting as a gift. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Very Good: A well-cared-for video game that has been played but remains in great condition. The game and its original packaging are complete and slightly worn, but unmarked and undamaged. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Good: The video game shows wear from consistent use, but remains in good condition. There may be clear external signs of wear and damage to the original packaging or instructions, but the game plays perfectly. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Acceptable: The video game is fairly worn, but it continues to work perfectly. The box and instructions may be missing or damaged. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Sellers are required to note whether the box or instructions are missing in the condition notes field for the item. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Any game I have personally ever bought in good or above condition has been in near mint condition. Acceptable ones have been a gamble. Getting DLC with games has also been a gamble and since AWD games are considered used, don't expect unused DLC even though there will be occassions where they may come unused. In regards to DLC, ymmv. Conditon wise, some people have reported that games were scratched with stickers on the insert. Consoles are also usually reported in like new or new condition with box damage. Rarely, a console may be missing a key component such as a power brick. Games listed in "acceptable" condition likely have very beaten up cases, or are missing cases and inserts, and are in not so great condition, but generally have a working game disc. Consoles listed in "acceptable" conditon can be either new in damaged packaging and or a pure gamble in what conditon they will truly be in along with what is included in the box depending on the time frame from release of the console.

Here is an example of a like new handheld (PS Vita) - Thanks Slixshot

I always had good opinion about most of you guys - as much as internet would allow. But, you can't be too sure, these days, anyways. So, since reading about the walmart thing and your stand about it, I must say that I am rather proud about my association with you guys. :)

You are probably the finest gentlemen I have had the honor of meeting on the internet highway. If i was not on my phone, I wouldve pasted a meme...anywho, honored!

ps: no, i am not drunk!

Yeah, I sure am glad someone is brave enough to stand up for the little guy. We need to protect all our mom & pop shops like Walmart from these bad guys.

Its not about protecting anyone or anything. If you can live with yourself after doing a certain thing then yeah go for it...i cannot knowingly do something I know I wont be able to talk openly about. If you are going to be ashamed to say it loudly/openly, then it is wrong to do...i understand that its subject to interpretation, but you KNOW if its right or wrong and if you still choose to do it, well more power to you I guess.

Hastings restocks are as random as AWD restocks. You will just have to get lucky with one of those. From the looks of it folks either got them early in the morning or late at night and that is random in itself.
thank you. As usual I miss the great deals for not being alert all the time.

I think we want deals, but we also have integrity, and don't want to ruin opportunities going forward. If someone gets hosed too badly on price matching, they may stop then we lose out as well
LOL, my dad almost bought a 2015 nissan rogue this week.
that is what my wife wants. We are probably looking at an older one though.

And overly greedy people who push the limits like that are the reason we can't have nice things. Was going to say something profound but looks like all of you took care of that for me so I'll just stop. For those employees who think you can price match idiot sellers, remember if it's too good to be true - waaaait for it:

[sharedmedia=core:attachments:9229]

Slightly on topic: Good to know I didn't miss much. Is it too much to say that so far every character in Star Ocean: TLH is somewhat creeping me out? I haven't even gathered the whole party yet (still on Roak).

You mean Drug Lord actually was doing something useful?!?!!?
That's funny - I thought the exact same thing after reading K's article about it the other day. "So DrugLord is recruiting others in his ways" is actually what I thought.

Also, (too lazy to multiquote) I'm glad to hear many of us not going for this type of fraud - good to see there's still some integrity on here - and yeah, while this one issue might not break pm'ing for us all, it certainly isn't going to help - there's a fine line between "super cheap ultra CAG deal" and fraud. Glad to be associated with those who know which side of the line to stay on! :)

I'm also glad to see the lack of an appetite for a pretty personal level of exploit here. Taking advantage of a pricing glitch online is fair game compared to taking advantage / manipulating a policy or employees that were not set up to deal with a scenario where folks are literally creating a fraudulent listing and then talking someone through a con.

I like to think of the folks in this thread as more of gamers trying to get some good deals rather than rip anyone off.

The line between CAG and SD has been blurred for some time now.

Also, really frustrated by some of the pricing display issues on warehouse deals. It has cut down on my grabbing sub $10 games...which is probably not a bad thing if I'm honest.

taking advantage of a glitch or an exploit is prettymuch the same thing.  The only difference is that your not dealing with a human in one where as you are not in the other and being a little more slimey.  But that's no different than the people who price matched bestbuy during the walmart or dears glitches either.

I'm fine with either as you should take advantage as often as you can in these cases since it will just gain more business for these places anyway and the amount of money they lose is barely significant.  The walmart parody in leverage put it best.

The difference is the glitch was not factored by yourself. It was a problem with that store, not fraud on you or anyone else's part. This Walmart scam is wrong imo, the Sears glitch isn't since it is there job to make sure these things don't happen. But I guess the same can be said about Walmart employees having a job to not sell an obvious scam.

Be careful driving there (with your history of drinking and driving - you don't want another DUI on your record, Zalaki. And stop using your phone in the car).

Slightly on topic: Good to know I didn't miss much. Is it too much to say that so far every character in Star Ocean: TLH is somewhat creeping me out? I haven't even gathered the whole party yet (still on Roak).
Lymle is the best. I actually used her the entire game. especially when she levels up and talks shit.

meracle is the token jrpg furry.

Myuria is good, and kinda has a milf aspect too her.

I didn't really use anyone else except edge.

I am making a drinking game from that gif...every time I see it, I am taking a drink.

The line between CAG and SD has been blurred for some time now.
Because I couldn't resist:

Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines Deluxe Edition (LN) $5.69

I swear that 69 cents isn't an accident.

I'm actually warming up to Lymle. I wanted to take back everything I said bad about her after leaving Lemuris. She's kay in my book, kay?

Welch was like all, "It's like I'm at an anime convention" when she saw Meracle the first time. I yelled, "Well no s***!!!"

I'm cheating and the strategy guide pretty much uses Edge about 99% of the time...then again I'm like 35% through so that could change.

Oh and good luck:

Man, I'm drunk at work now!

Meracle is jailbait! Don't be checking her out!

It is easy to out level the content in that game. If you craft some xp gear and get the full xp bonus, you can really level up fast. There are a few parts asy the end of the gate that are perfect to grind and grind, kay?

I enjoyed the game a lot, but I love jrpgs in general, kay?

If you run into any issues, let me know and I'll try to help you.

taking advantage of a glitch or an exploit is prettymuch the same thing.

Pretty much this.

Being on CAG for over a decade, it's always been interesting to see just when and where people draw the line on what is ethical. Back in 04 and 05, topics would explode with morality debates. Everyone would be ok with taking advantage of a glitch to get buy 2 get 1 free after it's expired but erupt when someone finds out they could get buy two $20 games and get a $50 game free.

Buying games for $3 at EB and trading them in to FYE for up to $27 cash? I never had a problem with this, even ran a trade in topic at one point, was told several times from people on this site that I'm the lowest scum for doing it. Toys R Us had a legendary exploit in 2005 where they sent people coupons in the mail for $5 off two games. At the same time they were running their green tag clearance for 90% off. Long story short, people were able to get hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in games for free. I can write an essay on this alone, some people thought you shouldn't even use the coupon on a green tagged game while others were going as far as photocopying the coupon.

And the Target rainchecks? LOL. Do these even still exist?

I'm curious how it's considered fraud. Wasn't it just someone selling a $90 ps4 on Amazon and people using that to price match at Walmart? That's just employees being stupid and not checking if Amazon is the one selling it and people taking advantage of their stupidity.

I thought some people were making the listings themselves and then price-matching them?

cause people weren't really selling the $90 ps4s they were making fake Amazon listings there selves so that they could then use that to price match that listing they made

Oh were they? I didn't know that. Still, isn't their policy Amazon sold only? I think best buy is like that. My local best buy always checks who it's sold by before price matching.
Just checked around and apparently they were offering to match 3rd party sellers on Amazon too?

It was people who made Amazon listings with information that made it look like it was from Amazon. The account AmzonElectronix was made to fool employees who didn't bother to look properly. If you go to that sellers page and click the PS4, it shows up as if the only price is $90.

When the page was taken down (multiple times) people just made new Amazon.com accounts and listed new PS4's. It's a scam b/c those people have no intention of selling any PS4 on Amazon and they are falsifying information to get products for less money (just like someone using a fake coupon to take money off a product).

Even if you didn't make the page, you were still using there means to commit fraud to Walmart. They are just as much an accessory to the crime as the person who made the listing.

Imo, Walmart employees who went through with it are just as much at fault as the people doing it. Online it even says it excludes Prices from marketplace and third-party sellers. They should've made sure it was sold by Amazon before allowing a price match.

So if someone stupidly drops his purse on the road and you pick it up and run, knowing fully well that the person is right there and its his hard earned money, would it be wrong of you? Or is it just the other person's stupidity to drop his purse on the road and not check his pockets properly?

Or, if you see someone running (in the above instance) would you consider it a wrong thing? Or a lost opportunity?

I can't believe that was almost 10 years ago. It was awesome buying Motor Trend Lotus Challenge, Sneakers, Malice, Room Zoom and all those other junky games from EB and TRU and getting great trade in credit prices or cash from FYE. I don't recall there being a limit either like there is now at most trade in places.

They are. Apparently a spokesperson for Amazon said they will price match 3rd parties too (which doesn't matter since they don't speak for Walmart officially as a whole).

We will see a change to this policy soon. The fact that Walmart hasn't taken Amazon off their list to revise it is weird. People are still getting PS4's despite memos being sent out to managers.

Not saying it's fine to do it. You're still taking advantage of employees not checking correctly, which imo is wrong. Doesn't change that it's not partially their fault. It's like leaving your house open while you're not there. I wouldn't be surprised if you got robbed. Doesn't mean it's fine for you to get robbed, but if you do that it's not really a surprise. Idk if they decided to price match 3rd party on Amazon or not, but doing that is just asking to get scammed by people. There's a reason nobody does it.

I wouldn't be surprised if all this mess doesn't force Walmart to back track and make Walmart go back to the old price match policy and not match anyone online prices not even local retailers online prices

Come on now, that's like blaming the little old lady who got taken advantage of over the phone because she didn't do proper verification and know better.

That would just be managers not doing their jobs correctly. Same deal with this whole scamming Walmart stuff. If they did their jobs correctly none of it would've happened.

What the **** is wrong with you people. It's extremely simple, it's exploiting and you know it's wrong. When (and if) you grow up, you'll realize this.
