F.A.Q's

What is Amazon Warehouse Deals?
From Amazon: Get deep discounts on open-box, like-new, refurbished, or used products that are in good condition but do not meet Amazon.com's rigorous standards as "new".

Warehouse Deals is part of amazon that has open box, new but with damaged packaging product aka "dinger" and trade ins in generally like new condition. They are considered 3rd party by affiliation and as such the "Amazon Warehouse Deals" distinction but are still part of Amazon.

What is AmazonSmile?

About AmazonSmile

Is the Amazon Warehouse Deals return policy the same as Amazon's return policy?
Yes! All purchases are eligible for Amazon customer service and 30 day return policy.

I'm using the games sort by console link, and the games will not sort by price properly. What is wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong, the sort by price feature on Amazon is broken during restocks and or when pricing algorithm goes haywire. During those times, prices don't adjust and assimilate with the current inventory quickly enough to show the sorting as such

I'm waiting for a ps4, xb1, 360, ps3, 3ds, or PS Vita to pop up.. What time do they usually appear?
They can show up any time, the best way to find it is have the item tabbed on your browser, and download an auto refresh app and frequently check it, and or set alerts... Sometimes they will not pop up on amazon warehouse deals storefront, you will need to check the "used" section of the item

Why did all the prices of games randomly jump up?
Games on warehouse deals generally go on a cycle. They will get extremely low, great deals.. Then they will jump back up and restart the cycle of falling in price again.

I have a gaming credit and/or an Amazon gift card. Can both of these be applied to Warehouse Deals orders?
Gift cards can be applied to orders made on warehouse deals, however video game credit is only good for items shipped and sold by "amazon.com", warehouse deals does not count as this.

What was Penny Deals?
In early September of 2011, tons of newer release, more expensive games popped up for 1 penny each. Many CAG members placed orders, expecting them to get cancelled. Some were cancelled, however many CAGS got a large amount of games for a penny each. There has been no confirmation what exactly happened and why these games were sold for a penny.

What is this "glitch deals" that I keep hearing about in this thread?

On August 7th, 2014, AWD glitched out similar to how it did around penny deals, except lot of stuff went for cheap instead for a penny. The pricing algorithm went haywire and in the process lot of stuff went for cheap across the AWD spectrum from games to iphones to tablets and everything else in between. The "glitch deal" lasted for maybe a couple of hours and fellow CAGs that were around during that time made out like a bandit. Below is the timeline leading up to the night and the deals that went down on that night.

What do you mean by a "dinger"?
Dinger = Item is new but the packaging is damaged in some way or form.

These are speculative guesses at best going by descritption of any given item and also taking into account the length of time an item has been out since its release. Shorter the span of time from release of a game or console, better the chance of scoring a new item with damaged packaging aka "dinger".

AWD product description says "Factory Sealed", is this item new?
First and foremost, AWD sells used / open box items so in their terms it has been sealed / resealed at an Amazon Warehouse and hence the "Factory Sealed" part so no it isn't necessarily new. It isn't necessarily new because it could go one of two ways:

1. It was traded in / open box return / test unit that was resealed at an Amazon warehouse facility.
2. It was a dinger (new with damaged packaging and with seals intact).

What condition are products from Warehouse Deals generally in?
First and foremost all games from AWD are considered used unless specified as new. Usually, games are re-shrinked wrap and depending on condition they can be perfect / brand new, brand new with damaged packaging aka "dinger" to just a game in a generic case. AWD has 5 condition criteria for their listings and they are:

New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened video game in perfect condition in its original packaging and with all original packaging materials included.

Like New: An apparently unopened video game in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The box and item are pristine, with no signs of wear. Suitable for presenting as a gift. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Very Good: A well-cared-for video game that has been played but remains in great condition. The game and its original packaging are complete and slightly worn, but unmarked and undamaged. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Good: The video game shows wear from consistent use, but remains in good condition. There may be clear external signs of wear and damage to the original packaging or instructions, but the game plays perfectly. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Acceptable: The video game is fairly worn, but it continues to work perfectly. The box and instructions may be missing or damaged. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Sellers are required to note whether the box or instructions are missing in the condition notes field for the item. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Any game I have personally ever bought in good or above condition has been in near mint condition. Acceptable ones have been a gamble. Getting DLC with games has also been a gamble and since AWD games are considered used, don't expect unused DLC even though there will be occassions where they may come unused. In regards to DLC, ymmv. Conditon wise, some people have reported that games were scratched with stickers on the insert. Consoles are also usually reported in like new or new condition with box damage. Rarely, a console may be missing a key component such as a power brick. Games listed in "acceptable" condition likely have very beaten up cases, or are missing cases and inserts, and are in not so great condition, but generally have a working game disc. Consoles listed in "acceptable" conditon can be either new in damaged packaging and or a pure gamble in what conditon they will truly be in along with what is included in the box depending on the time frame from release of the console.

Here is an example of a like new handheld (PS Vita) - Thanks Slixshot

My Used - Like New Hyperdimension Neptunia PS3 Premium Edition came in....

and it's just the standard edition. ugh.

I haven't had much experience with AWD, but this really deters me away from it.

I dont know if the description said this when you bought yours but it is kinda clear that it is not going to be the "premium edition"

Any Online or Redeemable Codes on used Video Games may not be valid. Games will NOT come with any extra accessories outside of case, artwork, and instruction booklet unless stated otherwise. 30 Day Return Policy.

I returned 8 packages from the great super cheap but mostly super crappy console debacle. No e-mail to me.. but I have a prime account and buy lots of crap all the time.
It doesn't matter how long you have been a member for or how much you have spent. Some people get bans without any kind of notice.

This PS4 that I got was actually listed as "very good" and arrived with everything. However I just opened the package to find out that it doesn't power on and work at all. It actually powered on for 1 second then turns off really quick. I tried unplugging the AC cord and powering it up again but it didn't do the trick.

Thankfully it's still under the 1 year warranty as the manufacture date on the console was August of 2014. I had to chat with Amazon customer service and they offered to give me a 20% refund for the item and keep it. They told me that if I couldn't get Sony to help, I can still send the item back for a full refund.

I sent an e-mail back to Amazon saying that the description of some of the warehouse deals I ordered didn't match the item delivered and got this reply...Needless to say I still not be returning anything to Amazon for a while.

You are quoting the seller "Next Worth"... not AWD. And that is for an "Acceptable" condition item.

Not "Like New".
Yes, you are right. You did say it was LN - I just went with the link and tried to see the description. If it is LN, it has to have everything in it; you can get the description from your order. Should contact Amazon with the description and let them know what happened.

My recent purchases have all been acceptable, so I expect less and never complain. Having said that, I am returning one of the games I recently bought because even for an (A) it is not acceptable if the whole thing in broken to pieces. :)

Is it me or does it seem like the prices for stuff on Amazon is really inaccurate anymore? Maybe it's always been like this but I don't remember the prices in the search pages being so wildly different from the actual prices you see when you go to an item's page.

I just got Amazon to refund me $48.99 for a missing USB cable and digital copy of Ryse from an XBO bundle I bought... And now I'm thinking back to all the other calls I've made to complain about late shipments and damaged products and so forth. Never made a return, but I'm kind of paranoid nonetheless reading through some of these posts

amazon will ban you faster for promo credits then returns. Also anything over 10 bucks raises a red flag.

you should get a warning email before the ban though

That's BS if me being compensated for their mistake puts me at risk. I could have returned it, but I thought THAT would have raised some eyebrows.

fuck.

I also had the employee ask me what the value of the items that were missing were so I could be credited and purchase them via Amazon-- and I told her to look them up via their search for fairness. Somehow she came up with $48... I should have said the controller was gone too if it was such a goddamned issue.

let us know if you get banned.

so who's gotten banned for partial refunds in the past? I've only really seen bans for too many returns.

Amazon is pretty generous but if you cause more harm than good to their business then you can't blame. Some people are picker than others and those are the people that should stay far away from AWD. Crap happens though.

I recently returned a new PS4 + Bloodborne because Sony decided to announce the Batman Ed. the next day. I'm sweating bullets because I already redeemed the TLoU code and used up the $20 credit that came with the deal. No emails yet but I wouldn't be surprised if I am hit with one. Also returned 2 high-end motherboard to them a few months ago. It's the big ticket item that catches their attention. Funny enough, all of my return have been new items. Never actually returned a AWD deal before. *Lucky*

Don't get paranoid. The bans are case by case bases and they don't just hand it to people on a whim. They are there for people who are gaming them and or abusing their customer service and or costing them money instead of having a profitable account. Folks do returns everyday for many reasons. If their is a pattern and or returns ratio is more than the buy ratio in a short span do they raise an eyebrow. However, no one knows the exact scenario or formula that causes a ban but it is usually a combination of high returns, returns in short span, asking for too much credit / complaining on nearly everything and or just flat out return fraud, all within a certain time frame, and using multiple accounts to do business and or unusual seller activity.

... and to those posting earlier, the gift cards (like from trades and or the ones loaded to your account) are mailed as a check back to you. Any promo credits that you may have (like video / mp3 credit and or preorder $20 credit towards a game) you forfeit if the account gets banned due to violating Amazon's TOS.

so who's gotten banned for partial refunds in the past? I've only really seen bans for too many returns.
I know 2 people but those 2 had returns and partial refunds as the reason for their banning. 2 other people I know for other reasons that got banned and unbanned (and one of them contacted Jeff Bezos to get his ban lifted). Their are others but I don't know them personally.

Well, I had an issue last year with them that they dont send me a code for a promo and then they sent me a new one. Like 2 months ago, I bought a xbox one for like $244 (assasin creed bundle vg) and I received a damn xbox 360 (the new model), this was my first time that they send me something wrong so they told me to send it back and choose a newer one for the same price. Like 5 days before the ps4 bundle with bloodborne came out I bought a ps4 (because I sold mine on gamestop to re-buy a newer one because I bought it used), so I asked them if there was a way to get the new offer because I didnt get anything when I bought it (just the last of us code), so they told me to send it back and re buy it again (what I did). So far I havent received any email like those or anything but if you see I have complaint with them 3 times (for expensive items) and no problems so far. So maybe this can be if you complaint in a row too much, I mean, if you contact them really fast after they resolved an issue with you. If I get banned or have an notification, I will let you know guys because that will mean that is something of the amount that you have received on returns and no how often you have complaint, let say in the same month

Honestly, by naturally returning for valid reasons, you should nothing to worry about. It's the people that try to exploit Amazon's CS and that in no way is hard. Once you live chat with them or something they try to compensate you right away and of course that leaves some customers with greed. Don't make it a habit and you'll be safe.

I hope this badly shopped picture I made cheer you guys up. It's just a small joke because so many of you are gloomy and it's understandable because Amazon is the best place to shop and I can't imagine not being able to buy from them anymore.

Just took a quick 10 minutes to do some research on ways that can get you banned and here's what I found.

  • Too much promotion credits applied to account because of incident
  • Too much returns
  • Too much cancellations (huh? new to me)
  • Excessive need of assistance with customer service (they lose money?)
  • Excessive credit card issues
  • Bullying, harassing or mocking customer service representatives (lol)
  • Being a terrible seller (seller account ban, possible full Amazon ban it found trying to commit fraud)
  • Stealing, fraud (i.e buying a computer, taking cpu, etc. and returning it with missing components)
  • Excessive refresh of amiibo listings
Okay, the last one is fake. Seems easy enough to avoid all of these except of the cancelling which I don't really believe. I had a month with 40-50 cancellations and I'm still here without a warning. That contacting CS seems untrue too but who really knows.

This may not be the greatest place to ask, but I have a bunch of pairs of headphones from AWD in my cart and even after a month of reviews, I'm still a bit lost. I'm looking at sub-$100 sets. The Audio Technica M40x were at the top of my list, but now I'm not sure. I have the Sennheiser HD280s and 380s in there as well, and the Sony MDRV6 and MDR7506 too. I used to be heavily in creating music, but not so much anymore, so I don't necessarily need something that is extremely flat across the board, but I don't want something that has more low end than I need. I just want something that is stable across the lows, mids, and highs and sound decent enough.

Does anybody have any experience with any of those sets? Maybe you can point me in another direction? Like out of this thread?

Same here. I think 10-20 a week lmao
especially with the subscribe and save, 1 month and done.

i just checked, not as bad as i thought 54 cancels in last 6 months
I cancel more than I buy it seems like. I don't try to do that but as soon as I one-click something, I instantly regret unless it was something I was intending on buying.

Looking at that list and this how it would go for me

Just took a quick 10 minutes to do some research on ways that can get you banned and here's what I found.

  • Too much promotion credits applied to account because of incident I don't bother them unless it is warranted, like a missing controller or something
  • Too much returns Never had more than 3 in year, and they usually for things that is just unacceptable
  • Too much cancellations (huh? new to me) There has to be more to the story for whoever is saying that
  • Excessive need of assistance with customer service (they lose money?) I usually figure it out myself so I don't have to bother them
  • Excessive credit card issues don't use a CC to purchase, straight Amazon credit homie lol. I only use the CC to put a preorder on but switch before release. I wouldn't have any problems even I did use it though.
  • Bullying, harassing or mocking customer service representatives (lol) LOL
  • Being a terrible seller (seller account ban, possible full Amazon ban it found trying to commit fraud) don't sell on Amazon, don't even have have a seller account.
  • Stealing, fraud (i.e buying a computer, taking cpu, etc. and returning it with missing components) Only idiots would do this, I'm not an idiot :)

Can't help you but there is a Best Headphones thread. Maybe they can help.

I would rank the M40x over the Sony's but the M50/M50x is better. The regular ATH-M50 is cheaper than the M50x, difference is the lack of a detachable cable, you can get one for around $105 from AWD. 380's are in that class, people have their preferences both ways, 280's aren't as good. I would also look at Grados in that pricerange if you don't mind open headphones.

The place to look for advice is head-fi.org, just keep in mind that a lot of opinions are based on preference.

Best sub $100 headphones I've purchased (and I own way too many) are the Sennheiser 558's after doing the foam mod (easy, google it)

I own more expensive ones but the 558's are the ones I use everyday for ps4 and music.

Wait till the Sennheiser 598 are $100 again.....

I've been waiting since Black Friday :(
Did someone say...headphones?

Yeah I got a second pair of HD598s for $150 back in February. I got my younger bro addicted to the Sennheiser sound. :wall:

AKGs from what I've read (and the few I've tried) have a more aggressive treble than Sennheiser. You know, it's that whole "veil" thing all the Head-Fi cats talk about.

BTW, should you venture over to Head-Fi.org...prepare to lose your CheapAss status. I've had a taste of the audiophile world with the NAD Viso HP50 and the Sennheiser HD598 and 600 (thanks to all who contribute to the Amazon Trade thread btw!) and I can tell you...after you get used to a pair of headphones you want to either buy another pair or something that will seem to make your current pair sound better. I swear I'm serious about every word of this paragraph (which is very unusual of me).

HD558 are supposed to be close enough to the 598, but even with the foam mod I read it still lacks a little of the refinement. If you want "audiophile" grade headphones according to Tyll Herstens at innerfidelity.com, you can try the Philips Fidelio X2. They apparently can be driven without an amp, making them usable on your PS4, Vita, whatever. They're probably a little better at gaming than the HD600 but when I tried the HD600 on Destiny, I had no problems picking up where Fallen and Hive baddies were.

And another set of headphones you'd like to try -

*passes out*

While we wait for Sovereign to regain consciousness, here are some links to headphones. Careful: AWD is NOT an authorized dealer.

I appreciate all of the feedback! I was looking into the 598s last night and saw a lot of positive response to them. Maybe I should sit on it for a little while longer and just pick those up. Thanks everybody! That includes you, whoknows.

Man, I dare not venture into audiophile territory with my current paycheck. I just use the low end Bose from Costco for the office and the qc25 (and the Vita of course) for flights. Sounds fine for my peasant ears. Those cats at Head-Fi.org go batsh*t crazy with their money.

All true.  I've stuck with my Grado SR225's forever but I pine for something with a bigger soundstage every time I try out another nice pair.

And half the people here buy consoles on the daily, what's your point!

On the headphone territory, I'm crazy about my Sennheiser HD25 1-II's. I've had them for two? three? years now, and they still sound as great (well, better after burn-in) as when I got them. My only problem is that the cable's starting to break, but that's my error. Problem is that OEM cables cost like $70 USD. All my cries.

I bought a $70 'hipster style' headphone from AWD for $5 today. I expect them to be terrible to meh sounding. Just couldn't pass a $5 headphone with 50mm drivers lmao.

BTW an ATH-M50x should be a nice balanced headphone for you. Its a little bit higher priced than sub 100 on AWD though but should last you more than the 40.

Personally, I've always been astoundingly satisfied by my Skullcandy Aviators. Of course, I did get them for $5 so they might sound better because I'm so damn cheap  :whistle2:

I use $10 headphones I got from Best Buy.
You and I agree on a lot of things, but this is where I gotta say...you're doing it wrong. I mean come on, you gotta hear how Toki and Towa sound like on Audio Technica AD700s. Heck - I might even send you those things since they're mothballed right now.

The 558 drivers are identical to 598's and they're 99% the same after foam mod. I've owned both.

Yes, yes they do.
Yeah I've always been curious about that...I might have wasted money sounds like (pun intended).

I wonder what the Head-Fi people do for a living. Certainly they're not exactly us or SD people I can guarantee that.
