F.A.Q's

What is Amazon Warehouse Deals?
From Amazon: Get deep discounts on open-box, like-new, refurbished, or used products that are in good condition but do not meet Amazon.com's rigorous standards as "new".

Warehouse Deals is part of amazon that has open box, new but with damaged packaging product aka "dinger" and trade ins in generally like new condition. They are considered 3rd party by affiliation and as such the "Amazon Warehouse Deals" distinction but are still part of Amazon.

About AmazonSmile

Is the Amazon Warehouse Deals return policy the same as Amazon's return policy?
Yes! All purchases are eligible for Amazon customer service and 30 day return policy.

I'm using the games sort by console link, and the games will not sort by price properly. What is wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong, the sort by price feature on Amazon is broken during restocks and or when pricing algorithm goes haywire. During those times, prices don't adjust and assimilate with the current inventory quickly enough to show the sorting as such

I'm waiting for a ps4, xb1, 360, ps3, 3ds, or PS Vita to pop up.. What time do they usually appear?
They can show up any time, the best way to find it is have the item tabbed on your browser, and download an auto refresh app and frequently check it, and or set alerts... Sometimes they will not pop up on amazon warehouse deals storefront, you will need to check the "used" section of the item

Why did all the prices of games randomly jump up?
Games on warehouse deals generally go on a cycle. They will get extremely low, great deals.. Then they will jump back up and restart the cycle of falling in price again.

I have a gaming credit and/or an Amazon gift card. Can both of these be applied to Warehouse Deals orders?
Gift cards can be applied to orders made on warehouse deals, however video game credit is only good for items shipped and sold by "amazon.com", warehouse deals does not count as this.

What was Penny Deals?
In early September of 2011, tons of newer release, more expensive games popped up for 1 penny each. Many CAG members placed orders, expecting them to get cancelled. Some were cancelled, however many CAGS got a large amount of games for a penny each. There has been no confirmation what exactly happened and why these games were sold for a penny.

What is this "glitch deals" that I keep hearing about in this thread?

On August 7th, 2014, AWD glitched out similar to how it did around penny deals, except lot of stuff went for cheap instead for a penny. The pricing algorithm went haywire and in the process lot of stuff went for cheap across the AWD spectrum from games to iphones to tablets and everything else in between. The "glitch deal" lasted for maybe a couple of hours and fellow CAGs that were around during that time made out like a bandit. Below is the timeline leading up to the night and the deals that went down on that night.

What do you mean by a "dinger"?
Dinger = Item is new but the packaging is damaged in some way or form.

These are speculative guesses at best going by descritption of any given item and also taking into account the length of time an item has been out since its release. Shorter the span of time from release of a game or console, better the chance of scoring a new item with damaged packaging aka "dinger".

AWD product description says "Factory Sealed", is this item new?
First and foremost, AWD sells used / open box items so in their terms it has been sealed / resealed at an Amazon Warehouse and hence the "Factory Sealed" part so no it isn't necessarily new. It isn't necessarily new because it could go one of two ways:

1. It was traded in / open box return / test unit that was resealed at an Amazon warehouse facility.
2. It was a dinger (new with damaged packaging and with seals intact).

What condition are products from Warehouse Deals generally in?
First and foremost all games from AWD are considered used unless specified as new. Usually, games are re-shrinked wrap and depending on condition they can be perfect / brand new, brand new with damaged packaging aka "dinger" to just a game in a generic case. AWD has 5 condition criteria for their listings and they are:

New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened video game in perfect condition in its original packaging and with all original packaging materials included.

Like New: An apparently unopened video game in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The box and item are pristine, with no signs of wear. Suitable for presenting as a gift. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Very Good: A well-cared-for video game that has been played but remains in great condition. The game and its original packaging are complete and slightly worn, but unmarked and undamaged. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Good: The video game shows wear from consistent use, but remains in good condition. There may be clear external signs of wear and damage to the original packaging or instructions, but the game plays perfectly. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Acceptable: The video game is fairly worn, but it continues to work perfectly. The box and instructions may be missing or damaged. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Sellers are required to note whether the box or instructions are missing in the condition notes field for the item. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Any game I have personally ever bought in good or above condition has been in near mint condition. Acceptable ones have been a gamble. Getting DLC with games has also been a gamble and since AWD games are considered used, don't expect unused DLC even though there will be occassions where they may come unused. In regards to DLC, ymmv. Conditon wise, some people have reported that games were scratched with stickers on the insert. Consoles are also usually reported in like new or new condition with box damage. Rarely, a console may be missing a key component such as a power brick. Games listed in "acceptable" condition likely have very beaten up cases, or are missing cases and inserts, and are in not so great condition, but generally have a working game disc. Consoles listed in "acceptable" conditon can be either new in damaged packaging and or a pure gamble in what conditon they will truly be in along with what is included in the box depending on the time frame from release of the console.

Here is an example of a like new handheld (PS Vita) - Thanks Slixshot

FYI, Halo CE won't work on 360. They made all previous versions of the game unplayable when they came out with Halo CE Anniversary. I had the Xbox Originals version that I paid $5 for during a sale, and all it does is redirect to the Waypoint app. Pretty shitty tactic to make you buy Anniversary.
Maybe the one you bought on XBL doesn't work but I'm playing the disc on my 360 right now.

If you have an original xbox game not playing on your 360, where did you buy your harddrive?

Third party hard drives are usually missing the sector of the hard drive required to play xbox originals.

My 360 has the harddrive from my Windows 95 computer. I don't need it now that I use a Windows 98 machine I got from a garage sale.
DVD? no thanks
I'm not interested in either of those, but what's wrong with dvd?

I'll buy some Blu-ray's if they're cheap, but I don't notice a big enough difference to pay more for it, especially over a dirt cheap dvd.

If I could, I'd buy all digital, but that's just not possible right now with drm.

I hope this doesn't start the whole ''there's a huge diff, ur TV is too small bro'' argument. I hate that argument.

Don't intend to do that. My TV is 55" which is plenty big for an average sized living room. I'm really just curious if they're worth the extra cost. I just can't tell the difference, especially if they're not side by side. I probably could if they were.

My files are somewhat compressed on my Nas anyway, so I'm probably not the market person for Blu-ray. 700mb-1gb for a dvd movie and 500mb-700mb for an hour tv show. With 3tb and a lot of content, small files are paramount to me.

You can tell the difference once you get used to the higher format, but just like in most things in life if you are used to the older way you won't really notice the difference until you switch.  I upgraded to a 12TB NAS drive and only download 1080p content now and definitely notice the difference when I watch lower rez stuff from netflix/youtube.

DVDs are 480p bluray is 1080p most TV shows are 720p (although we are seeing more and more 1080p)

I can't believe I just paid $340 for a remote controlled claptrap.

Also, if you can't tell the difference between DVD and BD, then you're either watching the right DVDs or the wrong blu rays.

They all look the same. I spent a lot of money to buy a bluray player and a component to coax converter so I could watch it on my TV and I see no difference besides the menus being fancier.

What a scam.
Interesting. That graphic puts it in better perspective, but my movies don't look blurry like in the 480p picture. They are probably less sharp than 720p, but that's all. A 12tb Nas would be nice, but the cost of those hard drives, not to mention finding a backup solution would drive me bonkers. Sorry to bring this off topic, back to the deals!

Edit: 720p and higher looks the same to me.

Luckily when 480p started burning everyone's eyeballs out of their heads 720p came along...it's a vicious cycle. Man SD content is really the dark ages. Those that remember black and white television are lucky they didn't have as many channels to watch back then, they'd all be blind by now.

They also didn't have to stare at computer monitors eight hours a day at work, then come home for another few hours on another monitor on either a console...or in our case, CAG.

#ModernLifestyleSucksEyeballs

480p does not look like that and looks better actually. Same for 1080p and 720p. That picture is a bit biased. Maybe it looks like that for shitty quality Youtube videos upscaled to 1080p but for legitimate TV shows and movies, it looks much better than that.

It's all based on how much your screen has to stretch the image to fit, so it's a combination of physical size and resolution. Lots of TVs have adjustments built in that will make the picture looks better than that 480p sample. It would only look like that if you have a basic 4K and have the picture set to full or equivalent. 1080p at around 50" displays them all fine, and I usually go for the 720p YIFY rips to save on space.

With the exception of Jessica Biel or Jessica Alba movies, that is. You NEED to see every fine hair or lip slip in those.

Well most of those don't look like that since its upscaled either by the TV, cable box or whatever.

I got a 4K tv now and those 720 rips I used to watch are a bit tough now (even though the TV tries to upscale them).

Blurays, most Fios channels and Netflix look great though.

Does Fios broadcast anything in 1080p?

I just received my (a) Lunar: Silver Star Harmony Limited Edition -Sony PSP for $17.94. It's brand new and completed. The cards are still sealed, but Amazon decided to send it in a padded envelope instead in a box. The outside box is a bit smash, but I can live with it.

DVDs are 480p bluray is 1080p most TV shows are 720p (although we are seeing more and more 1080p)

LOL..480 doesn't look like that at all. DVD up scaled on my tv looks more like that 720.

1080p/4K obviously *does* make a big difference, but that 480 pictured is more like 20p.

And to do that injustice to Stringer Bell? They should be ashamed
480p does not look like that and looks better actually. Same for 1080p and 720p. That picture is a bit biased. Maybe it looks like that for shitty quality Youtube videos upscaled to 1080p but for legitimate TV shows and movies, it looks much better than that.
I was thinking that too. That's what 480p looks like on YouTube, not on a dvd.

I only buy Blu Rays for movies and some tv shows but most shows I'll buy the dvd set but I watch  cable tv in 480p. I don't need to upgrade to HD because it's perfectly fine to me and because it cost more money and I ain't tryin to pay for dat. You Mad Comcast?

And 480p does not like that pic at all. Not even close.

Got my Halo CE

360 case, GOTY cover, no manual just the Xbox games insert, Original disc unless the GOTY edition is the same disc

Disc looks good though so for $1, it'll do

lmao at the example, the 4k is barely a 720p image...

Lol a 3DS puts out better image quality than the 480 image here. I can't tell the difference on TV's unless its like comparing a 300$ TV to a curved display or something.

I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but I just received an Xbox One w/ Kinect I ordered from AWD last week in acceptable condition. I thought it might be a dinger because it said marks on item case and did not say "previous gamer data may still be on hard drive."

It isn't a dinger. It looks like someone ordered an Xbox One off Amazon about a month ago, replaced the brand new one with one from February 2014, and then returned the package with the old console to Amazon! I only know this because everything else was in BRAND NEW condition except the beat-up high-pitched-squeaking console and the scratched-to-heck controller. All cords/kinect were in brand new wrapping with the clear adhesive still on all the glossy parts. He must have wanted a new console because his one-year Microsoft warranty had just expired on his old one.

The only good thing from this experience is that this DINGUS left all his profile information and games on it, not even password protected! So it has his name, address, and other information still on it. The funny thing is that when I was trying to see if the console worked properly today, a notification popped up after about an hour saying his profile had been signed out of my console because the scum had signed into an xbox one from a different location! Just further proof he just replaced his year old xbox one with a new one on Amazon's dime.

Maybe this isn't the case, but I don't understand why the hdmi, kinect, and power cords look brand new while the console doesn't even have any styrofoam holders or any sort of protection around it! It was just loose in the box!

I'm returning it this week. I just thought maybe some of you others had run into something like this before. What do you guys think happened in this scenario? A year and two months old console with brand new accessories? And the guy is already playing on a different Xbox One?

Edited to add his gamertag "watsonitis" in case anyone reading this is he or one of his "friends"

I'm not trying to be funny but people have been doing tricks like that for years now. Hell I think I did that with an open box PS4 I bought that slightly freezed. I traded it into Gamestop when they had a promotion and got myself a new one for the warrenty and everything.

I don't know, you should change the contact info and put a password on the Xbox Live account first.

You could also sign him up for all kinds of offers, and play Call of Duty and cuss little kids so he gets banned first.

Wow, I'm an asshole.

I now this happens all the time, but I can't believe Amazon accepts these kind of items back?

Just a page or two ago people were talking about getting banned for canceling to many orders, but people replacing new items with broken old ones and returning them? Oh that's cool. As long as you don't cancel said item before it ships...

In your case, you say you traded it in and bought a new one, not purchased one and replaced the new with the old then returned it.
