F.A.Q's

What is Amazon Warehouse Deals?
From Amazon: Get deep discounts on open-box, like-new, refurbished, or used products that are in good condition but do not meet Amazon.com's rigorous standards as "new".

Warehouse Deals is part of amazon that has open box, new but with damaged packaging product aka "dinger" and trade ins in generally like new condition. They are considered 3rd party by affiliation and as such the "Amazon Warehouse Deals" distinction but are still part of Amazon.

About AmazonSmile

Is the Amazon Warehouse Deals return policy the same as Amazon's return policy?
Yes! All purchases are eligible for Amazon customer service and 30 day return policy.

I'm using the games sort by console link, and the games will not sort by price properly. What is wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong, the sort by price feature on Amazon is broken during restocks and or when pricing algorithm goes haywire. During those times, prices don't adjust and assimilate with the current inventory quickly enough to show the sorting as such

I'm waiting for a ps4, xb1, 360, ps3, 3ds, or PS Vita to pop up.. What time do they usually appear?
They can show up any time, the best way to find it is have the item tabbed on your browser, and download an auto refresh app and frequently check it, and or set alerts... Sometimes they will not pop up on amazon warehouse deals storefront, you will need to check the "used" section of the item

Why did all the prices of games randomly jump up?
Games on warehouse deals generally go on a cycle. They will get extremely low, great deals.. Then they will jump back up and restart the cycle of falling in price again.

I have a gaming credit and/or an Amazon gift card. Can both of these be applied to Warehouse Deals orders?
Gift cards can be applied to orders made on warehouse deals, however video game credit is only good for items shipped and sold by "amazon.com", warehouse deals does not count as this.

What was Penny Deals?
In early September of 2011, tons of newer release, more expensive games popped up for 1 penny each. Many CAG members placed orders, expecting them to get cancelled. Some were cancelled, however many CAGS got a large amount of games for a penny each. There has been no confirmation what exactly happened and why these games were sold for a penny.

What is this "glitch deals" that I keep hearing about in this thread?

On August 7th, 2014, AWD glitched out similar to how it did around penny deals, except lot of stuff went for cheap instead for a penny. The pricing algorithm went haywire and in the process lot of stuff went for cheap across the AWD spectrum from games to iphones to tablets and everything else in between. The "glitch deal" lasted for maybe a couple of hours and fellow CAGs that were around during that time made out like a bandit. Below is the timeline leading up to the night and the deals that went down on that night.

What do you mean by a "dinger"?
Dinger = Item is new but the packaging is damaged in some way or form.

These are speculative guesses at best going by descritption of any given item and also taking into account the length of time an item has been out since its release. Shorter the span of time from release of a game or console, better the chance of scoring a new item with damaged packaging aka "dinger".

AWD product description says "Factory Sealed", is this item new?
First and foremost, AWD sells used / open box items so in their terms it has been sealed / resealed at an Amazon Warehouse and hence the "Factory Sealed" part so no it isn't necessarily new. It isn't necessarily new because it could go one of two ways:

1. It was traded in / open box return / test unit that was resealed at an Amazon warehouse facility.
2. It was a dinger (new with damaged packaging and with seals intact).

What condition are products from Warehouse Deals generally in?
First and foremost all games from AWD are considered used unless specified as new. Usually, games are re-shrinked wrap and depending on condition they can be perfect / brand new, brand new with damaged packaging aka "dinger" to just a game in a generic case. AWD has 5 condition criteria for their listings and they are:

New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened video game in perfect condition in its original packaging and with all original packaging materials included.

Like New: An apparently unopened video game in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The box and item are pristine, with no signs of wear. Suitable for presenting as a gift. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Very Good: A well-cared-for video game that has been played but remains in great condition. The game and its original packaging are complete and slightly worn, but unmarked and undamaged. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Good: The video game shows wear from consistent use, but remains in good condition. There may be clear external signs of wear and damage to the original packaging or instructions, but the game plays perfectly. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Acceptable: The video game is fairly worn, but it continues to work perfectly. The box and instructions may be missing or damaged. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Sellers are required to note whether the box or instructions are missing in the condition notes field for the item. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Any game I have personally ever bought in good or above condition has been in near mint condition. Acceptable ones have been a gamble. Getting DLC with games has also been a gamble and since AWD games are considered used, don't expect unused DLC even though there will be occassions where they may come unused. In regards to DLC, ymmv. Conditon wise, some people have reported that games were scratched with stickers on the insert. Consoles are also usually reported in like new or new condition with box damage. Rarely, a console may be missing a key component such as a power brick. Games listed in "acceptable" condition likely have very beaten up cases, or are missing cases and inserts, and are in not so great condition, but generally have a working game disc. Consoles listed in "acceptable" conditon can be either new in damaged packaging and or a pure gamble in what conditon they will truly be in along with what is included in the box depending on the time frame from release of the console.

Here is an example of a like new handheld (PS Vita) - Thanks Slixshot

Sigh.  So I literally spent all day pulling apart the living room entertainment center, cleaning, and rewiring it because I finally ordered an HDMI switch that came in today.  Lots of set backs like having to pull the outlet out and replace it because it was damaged.  Finally get everything all wired back up and in place and... it works with everything but the PS TV.  :wall:

So I'm sure it's an issue with the PS TV and not the switch, and it's not an HDCP or whatever it is thing because the PS3 is going through it.  Can't find anything on Google about it (because like 43 people even have the system).

be glad you don't live in some third world country without clean water, and food.
On that note why don't they use dehumidifiers to collect water? Wouldn't that remove all the trace elements and make it pure drinking water? Though that would cost electricity and take a while. They could also collect rain water though thats probably not useful if it is toxic rain.

Have you ever had a dehumidifier? Those water in those things is nasty stank. Pretty sure you would have to run it through some sort of purification process. Electricity also isn't subsidized and doesn't cost pennies in most of the world.

So I'm not sure what to think about a VG with this description:

"Item is in original packaging, but packaging has damage. Small (less than 1/4" x 1/4") cosmetic imperfection on front of item. Small scratches on back of item (up to 1/2 in.)."

Do we think it's a dinger or a donger?

Should have posted this earlier.. but wasn't thinking.

Picked this up cause of the 1k+ reviews and it was still 4 stars.. so took the chance. Works great. Sometimes I do have to use the little remote though, if I have two devices on it gets "confused" and just goes to the first one in line. (like Apple TV and PSTV are both on)

So far it's worked with my PSTV, Xbox one, PS4, 360, Apple TV and I did have my Dish receiver hooked up to it, but ended up plugging it directly into the TV.

Hey this is the exact same one I use in my bedroom. I don't have my PSTV connected on that TV though. Good to know it'll work if I decide to move it there, though.

I had issues with one of the many similar ones of those. The Kinivo while still a Chinese product does switch quickly and accurately and the build quality is so much better. I just need to figure out why it won't display the PSTV even though it switches to it.

I've been messing around with that switch and the PS TV for an hour or two and no change so I guess I'll see about switching it out.  Only thing I can track down is that it's HDMI 1.2 and some of the other ones are 1.3 or 1.4 though that seems unlikely.

I use this switch and it works perfectly for what I have.  I have a PS4, Vita TV, and XB1 hooked up to it.  As long as all three things are powered down when I power something up, it will auto switch to that device.  It gets a little confused if two or more things are on at the same time, but if that's the case I have to push the button on the switch to get to the device I want.

I have that very one with a X360, PS3, X1, PS4 and Wii U all connected to it. With the minor exception of the auto-switching not quite working as expected, which I think is an issue with my receiver more than anything else, I've not had any issues with mine.

You buy a prebuilt you're throwing tons of money out the window. Build your own. Takes about 2hours max your first time.

Auto switching and everything else works great, just not the Vita TV for some reason.

To build, not to find the parts you want for the right price and are compatible with the build you want. But yes, you should definitely build your own. You save money and get a better PC.

I have a Kinivo switcher for about a year and it works great! The auto-switching works great on mine, so it could be that.

So far it's worked with my PSTV, Xbox one, PS4, 360, Apple TV and I did have my Dish receiver hooked up to it, but ended up plugging it directly into the TV.
I tried using this before the Kinivo and it was just causing screen flickering when I was playing on my PS3, WiiU, and cable box with Monoprice HDMI cables. I don't recommend this one at all.

If you want to get a new computer but don't feel comfortable picking your own parts, check out /r/buildapc. The act of actually assembling the components doesn't take more than 30-45 minutes. It's definitely a fun little project and I'd recommend doing it.

If you're going to buy a pre-built, buy the i3 Alienware alpha. It can be had on AWD for like, $400. Dell had them $400 new as well. They're not much bigger than a Wii and you can add another 4GB RAM for $30. It also comes with the windows license and a 360 controller. I have one set to only run Windows. It sits comfortably on my entertainment center and it's loaded up with a few games and a ton of emulator/roms.

People say you can build one better for $400, but you can't. Not in that small of a size (it is ridiculously tiny), with a windows license, core i processor, etc.

I work with a guy who swears by PC building and even he says the i3 Alpha, for what you pay, is a fantastic deal.

The only caveat is its GPU is not upgradable. It runs a custom 860M/750Ti so it's more powerful than an x1/ps4 at the moment, but it's not something extremely future proof on games in 2-3 years.

However, for the price you can't beat it. That's what I'm using and just gradually getting the parts I need to build mine as they show up on sale.

But yeah...if you want anything other than that, I say build.

Have you ever had a dehumidifier? Those water in those things is nasty stank. Pretty sure you would have to run it through some sort of purification process. Electricity also isn't subsidized and doesn't cost pennies in most of the world.
The water in mine is always clear and smells like normal water. Maybe the place you have it and your filters are gross
