F.A.Q's
What is Amazon Warehouse Deals?
From Amazon: Get deep discounts on open-box, like-new, refurbished, or used products that are in good condition but do not meet Amazon.com's rigorous standards as "new".

Warehouse Deals is part of amazon that has open box, new but with damaged packaging product aka "dinger" and trade ins in generally like new condition. They are considered 3rd party by affiliation and as such the "Amazon Warehouse Deals" distinction but are still part of Amazon.

About AmazonSmile

Is the Amazon Warehouse Deals return policy the same as Amazon's return policy?
Yes! All purchases are eligible for Amazon customer service and 30 day return policy.

I'm using the games sort by console link, and the games will not sort by price properly. What is wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong, the sort by price feature on Amazon is broken during restocks and or when pricing algorithm goes haywire. During those times, prices don't adjust and assimilate with the current inventory quickly enough to show the sorting as such

I'm waiting for a ps4, xb1, 360, ps3, 3ds, or PS Vita to pop up.. What time do they usually appear?
They can show up any time, the best way to find it is have the item tabbed on your browser, and download an auto refresh app and frequently check it, and or set alerts... Sometimes they will not pop up on amazon warehouse deals storefront, you will need to check the "used" section of the item

Why did all the prices of games randomly jump up?
Games on warehouse deals generally go on a cycle. They will get extremely low, great deals.. Then they will jump back up and restart the cycle of falling in price again.

I have a gaming credit and/or an Amazon gift card. Can both of these be applied to Warehouse Deals orders?
Gift cards can be applied to orders made on warehouse deals, however video game credit is only good for items shipped and sold by "amazon.com", warehouse deals does not count as this.

What was Penny Deals?
In early September of 2011, tons of newer release, more expensive games popped up for 1 penny each. Many CAG members placed orders, expecting them to get cancelled. Some were cancelled, however many CAGS got a large amount of games for a penny each. There has been no confirmation what exactly happened and why these games were sold for a penny.

What is this "glitch deals" that I keep hearing about in this thread?
On August 7th, 2014, AWD glitched out similar to how it did around penny deals, except lot of stuff went for cheap instead for a penny. The pricing algorithm went haywire and in the process lot of stuff went for cheap across the AWD spectrum from games to iphones to tablets and everything else in between. The "glitch deal" lasted for maybe a couple of hours and fellow CAGs that were around during that time made out like a bandit. Below is the timeline leading up to the night and the deals that went down on that night.

Wisconsin

Note: No sales tax is charged when purchasing gift cards; however, purchases paid for with gift cards may be subject to tax.

Items sold by Warehouse Deals and shipped to destinations in Alaska are also subject to local sales tax.

What do you mean by a "dinger"?
Dinger = Item is new but the packaging is damaged in some way or form.

These are speculative guesses at best going by descritption of any given item and also taking into account the length of time an item has been out since its release. Shorter the span of time from release of a game or console, better the chance of scoring a new item with damaged packaging aka "dinger".

AWD product description says "Factory Sealed", is this item new?
First and foremost, AWD sells used / open box items so in their terms it has been sealed / resealed at an Amazon Warehouse and hence the "Factory Sealed" part so no it isn't necessarily new. It isn't necessarily new because it could go one of two ways:

1. It was traded in / open box return / test unit that was resealed at an Amazon warehouse facility.
2. It was a dinger (new with damaged packaging and with seals intact).

What condition are products from Warehouse Deals generally in?
First and foremost all games from AWD are considered used unless specified as new. Usually, games are re-shrinked wrap and depending on condition they can be perfect / brand new, brand new with damaged packaging aka "dinger" to just a game in a generic case. AWD has 5 condition criteria for their listings and they are:

New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened video game in perfect condition in its original packaging and with all original packaging materials included.

Like New: An apparently unopened video game in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The box and item are pristine, with no signs of wear. Suitable for presenting as a gift. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Very Good: A well-cared-for video game that has been played but remains in great condition. The game and its original packaging are complete and slightly worn, but unmarked and undamaged. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Good: The video game shows wear from consistent use, but remains in good condition. There may be clear external signs of wear and damage to the original packaging or instructions, but the game plays perfectly. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Acceptable: The video game is fairly worn, but it continues to work perfectly. The box and instructions may be missing or damaged. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Sellers are required to note whether the box or instructions are missing in the condition notes field for the item. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Any game I have personally ever bought in good or above condition has been in near mint condition. Acceptable ones have been a gamble. Getting DLC with games has also been a gamble and since AWD games are considered used, don't expect unused DLC even though there will be occassions where they may come unused. In regards to DLC, ymmv. Conditon wise, some people have reported that games were scratched with stickers on the insert. Consoles are also usually reported in like new or new condition with box damage. Rarely, a console may be missing a key component such as a power brick. Games listed in "acceptable" condition likely have very beaten up cases, or are missing cases and inserts, and are in not so great condition, but generally have a working game disc. Consoles listed in "acceptable" conditon can be either new in damaged packaging and or a pure gamble in what conditon they will truly be in along with what is included in the box depending on the time frame from release of the console.

Any tips on finding deals?
Sure! Here is a guide for a plugin for Chrome users to set alerts for items. Part 2 of the tutorial helps get AWD link to item not currently instock or that hasn't come out yet.

For Chrome users PageMonitor is a handy plugin to catch deals. (Guide listed below)
For Mozilla users, Check4Change is a handy alternate plugin to that of chrome's.

Also, http://theforklift.net/ for those looking for AWD deals in a pinch.

From my original post (concerning PageMonitor and AWD links):

I wonder if I'm doing it right. I'm adding the used page of the product (and selecting free shipping to filter it), however the program alerts me there is a change eventough there is none (the Sorry message we see when there are no products with free shipping - usually AmazonWarehouse).
The way I do it is selecting the price itself. For example I go here: http://www.amazon.co...&qid=1427814309 then I select the game/console that I want too look and click where it say used (dont click on the item link, click where it say used under the item you want). Then with page monitor I select monitor this page. After that I go to options (on the page monitor tab) advance and then click custom mode, pick. That will open a new tab withe the webpage of the item that I selected to monitor and there is where I select the price (the number) of the item. Then click done. Thats it, thats how it worked for me.
Time to revisit Feb 25th 2014 (and March 30th 2012) :

Time to revisit March 30th 2012 :). I posted a guide then and it very much still applies with some tweaking to what I know now, so on with it.

Before I begin, know this that you need to go to the AWD site if you are after something specific from AWD like the vita in this example. Also you can fast click the link to the edition you want (if it is a console, handheld, or games), and see each price for AWD only items if they are available. You would be lucky to see something pop up on AWD if bunch of people are hunting down the same hot ticket item at any given time. On that note, the alert DOEScatch AWD items before they appear on AWD and if sniped quickly (1-click), others will most likely just see a ghost listing on AWD by the time it appears on AWD page. Setting alert on AWD page also eliminates false positive alerts since only AWD listings will appear on AWD page vs every minute change that will happen on the main Amazon listing page. Now onto the guide:

This may help answer the question for few who are wondering how to use "Page Monitor" extension for Chrome.

Once the extension is installed, do this. Select the AWD page (not the main Amazon listing page to avoid false positive alerts) to be monitored by clicking on the Page Monitor icon and selecting "Monitor This Page" link (Use the link swapping trick mentioned earlier to get to the page if the game isn't out yet). Then go to Page Monitor options and do as following:
gallery_327158_7630_1370780661_26889.jpg

(You can choose to have custom notification sound, desktop notification, length of duration for notification, and the length of duration for refreshing as you please.)

Once done tweaking the settings, then do this:
gallery_327158_7630_1370780661_26890.jpg

Once you have done step 6, you have set the page to be monitored and you are set. A notification will go off that a change has been found but that is just to notify that you have set an alert. Mark it off as visited and from this point forward you are set to go.

Pro Tip: Set it to monitor the "used" tab via "selector" under the options by checking off "custom mode" instead of monitoring the whole page. If you set if from the warehouse side then it will only alert you if one pops up in the warehouse.

Those step diagrams have been here since the 1st time I made the guide back in March of 2012 and it is under my profile in my gallery so feel free to revisit it if the need arises.

I hope that helps my fellow CAGs. Happy hunting everyone :)

Mulder, on 04 May 2015 - 3:24 PM, said:

One thing for the procedure is that there are no New 3DSs available in the warehouse at this time, so I need to wait to test this approach.
Part 2 of the equation on how to get notification for items not on AWD and or ones say coming out in the future (like MGS V: CE)

Do this to get AWD listings for those items. Open a link to an AWD item (any item) but it needs to be an AWD link. Say something like this:

http://smile.amazon..../offer-listing/B00841ZJYO/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used&m=A2L77EE7U53NWQ&qid=1430778305&sr=1-15

The part in bold is the Amazon's item listing and each item has its own unique listing identifier so to get the new XL item listing go to the item's page and from it's link get B00S1LRX3W

http://www.amazon.co...DS-XL-Black/dp/B00S1LRX3W/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1430778512&sr=1-1&keywords=new+3ds+xl

and replace the B00841ZJYO with B00S1LRX3W in the AWD link and voila you have AWD listing for an item not yet availabe.

http://smile.amazon..../offer-listing/B00S1LRX3W/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used&m=A2L77EE7U53NWQ&qid=1430778305&sr=1-15

Here are all the new xl links:

Nintendo - New 3DS XL Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Limited Edition - Gold/Black
New Nintendo 3DS XL - Black
Nintendo New 3DS XL Red

I hope that helps. Good luck and happy hunting! :)

How many returns out of how many orders in what kind of time frame? Lol add the statistics man

I, too, would like to know what kind of numbers they consider responding to like this. Most I've ever done was no more than three returns in a two-month time frame, but I worry nonetheless.

Im actually exchanging something today...Fringe Blu Ray Complete SEries.  Every season case was completely snapped at the spine.

What a joke.

I expect an email too.

Over the last six months (not counting digital orders/apps/Kindle stuff since I doubt those are part of the equations) I have 19 orders that have shipped with 3 returns. Over 2015 it was 62 orders shipped with 8 returns.

I'm sure that it's the 3 most recent returns that are the issue since they came across October and November, totally around $600 and were all AWD issues (what a surprise). The other six were in April and May and only totaled about $100. Not having Prime so that I've ordered a third of what I would have otherwise in a six month month period certainly hasn't helped any ratios.

This is why i have began to price match whenever I can. Amazon's shipping isn't what it used to be and they have been banning people out of nowhere for returns these past 2-3 years.

Oh their shipping is terrible, it's why I didn't renew my Prime when it expired this summer. Other than the randomly cheap $5-10 thing that no one else has there's rarely been any situations where I miss it.

Now that they are the number 1 online retailer, their attitude is that you are going to accept our new crappy shipping whether you like it not. Otherwise, you're banned.

Yep, since they single-handedly started taking over most retail it's been downhill. BF/Holidays are the perfect example of this where over the last 5 years they've gone from being the aggressor who actively undercuts everyone else's deals while adding their own good deals on top of that. Then they moved towards less deals and more straight price matches and have moved more and more towards just matching a handful of notable deals and having almost nothing unique.

It's great that they match most deals that pop up but when more and more of us have to pay tax that cancels a lot of that benefit out and with GCU at BBY and other promotions retails run other than just discounted prices Amazon is often at the bottom of the heap if you want the very best deal.

I dont spend anywhere close to what I used to spend on Amazon. I dont even visit their site on BF anymore. They either match another store or have a higher price. People still eat it up so they're not going to change. Lazy consumers.

depends where u live with prime i regular get all my packages within 1 day and by 7am.
It doesn't matter how fast stuff arrives when it's packaged terribly and damaged. I've received more damaged merchandise from Amazon than every other online retailer I've ever ordered from combined.

Yep, and that's why they've stopped trying to capture market share because at a loss because they no longer have to. Amazon is every bit a household name as any other retailer now and when someone wants to check on a product where's the first place they're probably going to go? Amazon.

Maybe I'm just on the lucky end of the spectrum, but I always get my items on time and out of roughly 400 orders I've only ever received a damaged item from Amazon once, and that was a VHS rewinder that I bought Used and was probably like that before it shipped. Returned it for full refund no problem.

So this isn't quite as ominous as warning letters I've gotten in the past:

"Hello,

We have noticed that an unusual number of your recent orders have been returned.

Since our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company, we want to make sure you are happy with your Amazon shopping experience. If we are not living up to our promise, please reply to this email and let us know what we can do to improve.

To speak with a member of our Customer Service team, call 1 (866) 216-1072 or click the Contact Us button on any Amazon.com Help page (http://www.amazon.com/help).

While we welcome returns when orders do not work out, we want to do whatever we can to ensure that you are happy with your Amazon shopping experience.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Sincerely,

Account Specialist"
Ive received the same message one a secondary account (my mom's account) - basically it is mine.

Probably about 5 retunes within 5 months on about 50 orders...all AWD

$1500 laptop - wrong model - was the lowered one

$250 iPhone - iCloud locked :(

2 CE video games - they were suppose to be flipped but didn't come with any of the accessories (LN)

PS4 - blue light of death no warranty

Since they I have only purchased items that are brand new or a few things from AWD that I knew where damaged boxes stuff - legos, nerf, etc. a bunch of random stuff that cost $1 AC from slickdeals. Hopefully about 50 orders without problems fixes any future potential disaster.

lol that isn't amazon fault. Friday was New Years and no retailer shipped even stuff I ordered Days ago at Best Buy barely got tracking today. There wasn't no shipping Friday due to New Years therefore tomorrow the first shipping business day

Amazon certainly had a weak showing this year sales wise on black friday compared to last year.  I got way more games last year thanks to the psp games they put on sale. Plus the lightning deals like daria and roseanne complete dvd sets for 6-10$.  Things were much better when free shipping was 25$ as that was more feasible to hit the cap.  taxes wise the are super weird too as when I added food to an order the tax went down.  Don't know how that works.

Not to say there wasn't nice deals to be had last year but compared to 2014 it was certainly not as close.  Best things I got out of last year was my lovely 3ds and the 2 ps2's.

i ordered an xbox one, halo 5 and rise of the tomb raider last night 1/2 and delivery isnt expected until thursday 1/7. prime shipping has gotten much worse.

i mean, that'd be ideal.

but no usually when i used to order things on friday/saturday i would get them by tuesday.

you know, two days later. you know, not thursday.
Delivery services like USPS/UPS/FedEx don't run on Sundays, so if you're buying something Saturday night, it's essentially like you're buying it on Monday. I would say Wednesday would be the "correct" time for it to arrive, given that.

They do deliver on Sundays in my area, but you won't see them sorting/processing anything on that day. From everything I've seen (other than the recent Amazon Prime deliveries), unless a package gets to a USPS facility early in the day on Saturday, it's going to sit there until Monday.
I've placed same-day prime orders Saturday afternoon, which were packed Sunday morning and delivered Sunday evening. This is in the LA area, if that makes a difference.

And Amazon does do their own deliveries as well.

You know there are other places you can shop instead.  Amazon offers amazing service for the price.  Or else you guys wouldn't be shopping there.

There's more to Prime!   More time waiting for your stuff, more stuff trashed during delivery, more bans because customers actually want things they ordered in the time it estimated when they ordered it (whatsup with delivery dates being changed all the time now??)...

I just bought a 2015 Macbook Pro last week (shout out to the Amazon Trade In thread!) and I'm dreading having to return it.  If I do just a little bit more then just basic things, the fan starts up and makes such loud noises it's actually louder then my TV when I have it on at night.   I actually contemplated bringing it in to an Apple store, but stopped myself because that's ridiculous (and my research found it wasn't a quick fix LOL).

I'm just curious what happens to Amazon credit when someone gets the ban hammer... does it just go away?  I have a hard time thinking Amazon would just cut a check for the credit they're owed, but it seems unfair that a person's Amazon credit can just be arbitrarily taken away for any or no reason whatsoever.   Someone here has to have first or second hand experience with this situation - anyone care to share?

From some other posts I read, they do send you a check for the amount of the credit you have.

It has warranty just take it to Apple - did you get a good deal? If so, then its worth the trip.

I've read that you do get it back as well. I'm sure you would get a warning before they banned you unless it was something serious. My wife had 4 returns on her account out of about 15 orders in a 5 month stretch in late '14...no issues. All were in the $50 range. (3 were 3rd party sellers though, not sure if that matters).

That said, I ordered some lotions and a dvd :joystick: that was supposed to be here Saturday, and came a day later ;). Problem was, they were for a family gift exchange that same day. I returned the lotions already(which they told me to keep, lol), but probably will end up just keeping the $12 DVD for a future gift to not burn a return. I do wonder if late deliveries hurt your account the same as did not want or defective return.

My understanding is GC balances get returned, but promo credit is forfeited.

I use amazon (prime) several times a week and I've never had any issues with any of my packages coming late or damaged ever. The dates they post on their page at time of purchase has always been accurate and even comes sooner a lot of the time UNLESS there is some weather/emergency that causes UPS or FedEx shipping delays. That said, I also live in Seattle, so many of the items are coming from their delivery centers nearby but there are quite a bit coming from Kentucky and Nevada that arrive quickly too. USPS and On-Trac delivery is also great as well as Prime Now shipments. Never issues on lateness.

You are lucky. I'm constantly having packages delivered late. They also routinely use poor packaging like Collectors Editions in a bubble mailer.

Of course, I've had plenty of AWD screw ups. Example: ordered a Mega Man 64 that was supposed to be complete and I actually received a Gameboy Advance or discs broken completely in 2 pieces.

Speaking of which, my girlfriend has a curling iron that was originally dated for Tuesday delivery and is going to be at my house today. :)

I've only ordered a small handful of items from AWD but everything seemed to be packaged pretty well. I know they've done different packaging than they used to to save wastes and such, so that could affect certain items such as used goods. I picked up a used PSPGo charging grip the other day on AWD and it came in great condition though minimal packaging.

Thanks for the input, but enough with the handjob, Amazon's dick is getting sore.

We get it, you receive your stuff on time.

I get deliveries on Sundays. However, Amazon shouldn't be banning people until they fix their descriptions. Saying "may be missing one of the following..." is hardly ever true. Should say "may be missing 1 or all of the following..."

I mean we regulars get it but a newb might order a crap ton of acceptables and would reasonably expect it to come with everything but 1 or the items in the seriea because thats what their descriptions say.

The trick with packages is to buy 2+ items at once. I've never had them use a bubble mailer with more then one item aside from very small stuff like spark plugs.

Another trick is ordering multiple items with no rush then a single item with prime. If it's all available in the same warehouse they will occasionally toss the no rush stuff in the box with the 2 day shipping anyways.

First idea never works for me, the items will get shipped separately. 2nd idea isn't all that reliable either. Sorry for shitting on your ideas. I'm back at work after a 3 week vakay today and my underwear is too tight

Underwear?

Well now I've heard it all. Huh. What is that actually like?

Seriously, though - I understand how you're feeling. First day back is always torturous.
