i have NEVER played doom, is it worth it?
Well I hope that you bought it.

Doom is a fun game even despite it's age. It's very smooth and on a big TV you can see everything. And you get the see the origins of basically everything in the FPS genre.

Does Namco Museum VA have Pacman CE too? If so, maybe there is something for me to buy at Gamedays, which is otherwise quite blah.
So, you mislead us with your trickery! Congrats on the free game.
Yeah it was their mistake. Thanks for the Congrats. I'm sure someone could duplicate this If they missed out on some kinda preorder deal.

I've taken advantage of both the Pac-Man and the Galaga sales so far. Lets hope Amazon keeps this trend up. There are a lot of Arcade titles I'd like to get but haven't yet so far due to their price being a little too high for my tastes. Maybe we'll see 1 or 2 titles on sale a week with them.
2) Could the thread creator PLEASE add something to the original post that says Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved was ALWAYS five dollars.
No need for it now, they bumped the price back up. If people still want to spend $10 and get this game, they should buy the XBL Arcade Unplugged pack from Newegg.

Yes, yes it does.

Full XBL Arcade Games are:
Mr. Driller Online
Pac-Man
Ms. Pac-Man
Pac-Man CE
Dig Dug
New Rally X
Xevious
Galaga
Galaga Legions

1800 nerd points total. The non-arcade games have no Gamerscore associated with them.

The old arcade games are all attainable 200s (although Pac-Man and Dig Dug will challenge you), but you'll go mad playing Mr. Driller Online. That game lets you get oh-so-close to winning a stage every time, then rips it away from you with an unexpected death just to be cruel!

Well you can consider Pacman CE dead now too. It was at the $4.97 price a minute ago and right when I hit checkout it jumped up to $10.00. Looks like I'll be going to Gamestop now.

Updated the OP.

I definitely recommend folks go out to your local Gamestop and pick up Namco Virtual Museum Arcade for $15 if you missed out on Pac-Man CE.

I got Doom and already have Undertow and Pacman CE. I got Pacman CE with my Arcade system, and Undertow for free. Thanks to this post, I got Doom just in time yesterday.

Thanks OP!
Undertow=NO DEAL!!!!!!!!!! Was given for free on XBL Market around a year ago.
You have a time machine for me to use?
You have a time machine for me to use?
I got it too (it was for some disruption in the service), and tried playing it for afew minutes, but yeah, it was pretty bad. Maybe as some kind of multiplayer game it was okay, but I hated single player.

Yeah, it was around Christmas/New Year of '07 into '08. Live simply couldn't handle the influx of new systems. And they gave us that piece of shit as compensation. I played it a bunch, just because, but I certainly wouldn't pay for it.

Definitely. Another option is the disc that comes with the Arcade units. Not nearly as good a value as the Namco collection, but you can get it for $8+ used after EDGE and eternal coupon. Again, I would definitely go with the Namco disc, but if you're really cheap and don't see anything else on the disc that interests you, at least there is another option.
Splurged on Doom. Not for the PC memories, but rather for the 32X memories. I wonder if I still have those maps I drew out on graph paper...
Yes, yes me too! I distinctly remember following the gamefaq guide describing that you could not 100% the levels unless you "rocket launchered" the enemies that were permanently stuck in the walls. The game was a blast but 32x they screwed up.

Remember how you could never see the enemies' backs?

Just want to let you guys know that if you picked up a XBLA title through Amazon, you may want to check your personal Gold Box Quick Picks daily. My Gold Box is showing up with Portal and Castle Crashers for a 5% discount off bringing the price to $14.25 and Galaga Legions for a 5% discount off bringing that price to $9.50. It's not a big savings but just wanted to notify that yes, XBLA titles do appear in your Gold Box Quick Picks providing you bought or rated something related to it.

I wish I had gotten to play Doom on the 32x. The SNES one was really pretty darned good I thought-pretty amazing considering.

The Playstation one was really good too, probably the definitive console version. Though I guess some of the later ones weren't ported as well.

Dang, I liked that generation-don't really like the Playstation 2 hardware :whistle2:/

Doom was best played on a 486 computer. But I guess at this point in time, the Xbox 360 is the next best thing.

If I could somehow "gift" you guys a copy of Undertow thats on my account I would. It was not Yaris bad, but it was pretty damn boring. I don't want it in my collection anymore but since I already got a achievement I can't get it off my list. lol.

Oh yeah, I played it a ton on my computer too (I think a fast 486 or maybe a slow Pentium 1), but I guess before that I played it on my SNES? And at some point the Playstation version too-spent a good day on it, even though I'd already played through it.

Guess I really do like FPS (it's taken me over a decade to admit it-then when I realized the last two games I'd actually played to completion out of a dozen games were F.E.A.R. and Resistance...)

Has this happened to anybody today?

I finally cave in and buy Ultimate MK3 off of amazon and when I try to put the code in either online on the pc or the xbox its self it keeps telling me an 'error has occurred during transaction, and try again later'

And I was wanting to play this now, any help?

I would do the same too, if there was a way to do so.

Heh, yeah, Undertow has great multiplayer and was one of the first XBLA games to have a real, fully-voiced story. I'll never understand how somebody could think it's so bad. Maybe they're on SD TVs and play single-player only?

I really liked Undertow. Great graphics, great voice acting, solid gameplay, but certainly a steep learning curve. The best part was that it was free after the December 2007 fiasco with Live. I think 800 MS points was a tough sell, but for 400 MS points its a good game (but the real fun is playing 4-player co-op on the insane difficulty for the campaign). 4-player co-op, many games this generation don't even offer co-op.

Steep learning curve?? Doesn't seem that difficult to me.

For those who were lucky enough to have endured the crappy-ness of Live during XMAS '07, we were able to get undertow for free b/c of the unreliable service during the holiday rush.

I quite like the Star Wars Battlefront-like gameplay of Undertow. I actually paid 800 points for it upon release. I was very impressed that MS actually refunded those points when they decided to give the game away for the weekend in early 2008. That was a class move in my book.

Game stinks.

Anyone else think it'd be epic if Amazon and MS partnered up to allow MS points to be spent at Amazon. Doubt it'll happen, but it'd be mighty convenient.

Perhaps I haven't had enough coffee this morning, but why would you want to use MS points and how would that be convenient?

If your saying MS points for the live downloads, its more convenient to use the points on xbox live marketplace, as there is no code to enter.

If your saying MS points for everything else amazon sells, why would you want to convert to space bucks, and then but something with a price converted to space bucks, when you could just pay cash?
I wish I could "gift" you undertow haters some duct tape for your mouths.
*360 motion plus fierce punch* IEYAH!

Ditto. I paid 800 day one and was very happy with my purchase. Unfortunately the game frustrated most people so the community died fairly quickly (like most xbla games). I think the biggest complaint was that the characters were too small--if the devs made a closer zoom the default, the community probably would have lasted longer. Most people didn't even know you could zoom in.

No idea about multiplayer, but it was atrocious single player IMO.

Yeah, it really was all about multiplayer. It sold pretty poorly when first released because it had a single-player only demo.
