Amazon's warehouse/sweatshop.

I do think most of the folks who consider themselves teab...tea partiers....are stupid, but that's based on what that group stands for, not just that they're part of it. Now they could be experts in a given field, and I know some are, but if they seriously believe some of the shit I've heard come out of the mouths of those....people...then I stand by my belief that they're idiots of the highest order. In fact I'd say they're even more so, because someone that educated should fucking know better.
What I mean about BS is that we have the self-appointed guardians of the disadvantaged running around here putting other people down for putting other people down. That's a very simplistic view of the situation but it does get at the essence of the problem. "This idiocy is wrong and you're an idiot for not seeing it even though it's wrong to point out the idiocy of others as individuals only as a system" or some such rabble. It's ridiculous.
That's not fair, I've seen a great number of posts from Msut, Doughdoh, Myke, etc with well-formulated opinions and relevant links/quotes backing it up.

How many posts from CAG conservatives are like that?
Oh they make them, their sources are just usually suspect.
As long as it was relevant we can analyze the factual basis - I actually don't mind those posters as much.

I'm talking about the real bufoons who post some random link from wiki and then pretend (or actually believe?) that it proves their point.

I've been struggling with how to address dissonance for a long time and I've come to the conclusion that some people really just don't want to be reflective of their stances on most issues. Maybe it's just ego or socialization, but some people really need those crutches to get through their lives. And I don't mean crutch in a derogatory sense, but as a coping mechanism to justify the countless injustices one might encounter in everyday life.

So when the issue of schooling comes up, I don't think that it's a very fair basis to judge someone on when we all know that the education system is fucked in this country and it's purposely structured that way.

Now I might be banned soon, so I also wanted to say it's been fun guys!:)

That would suck if you were banned but only the good die young.

To your point:

I know - Michael Moore - but I think he makes a good point here about the abuse that's been heaped on the middle class, and how it can drive folks crazy.

Honestly I'm more cynical, but I see his point.

Looks like shrike sees some value in me and hasn't thrown down the ban-hammer yet! I should send him/her a giftcard or something...hehe. Thanks shrike!

But back on topic: I've heard it described as a form of stockholm syndrome and I think that's pretty a pretty accurate description.

There's a quote that says: peesimist by nature; optimist by choice. Or something like that and that's what I subscribe to...kind of anyways...
Somehow it's become equally bad to call someone racist/ignorant/unwaveringly stubborn as it is to be racist/ignorant/unwaveringly stubborn
Moral relativism

I think you're right - here's a real dummy talking about the $5 fee that BOA is now charging for debit card use:

There could be plenty of people who have no problem with an extra $5 a month. Claudia Smith, who lives in Fayetteville, Ark., said she wasn’t worried about the new fee, even though she used her debit card extensively. “It’s well worth $5 a month to not have to carry a checkbook,” she said.
...
“I guess banks have expenses like everyone else,” she said. “Do we want to be able to use live tellers?”

IMO, it's one thing to not understand credit default swaps. It's a whole 'nother layer of stupid to get ripped off so easily. But when you heap praise on the folks who are gouging you - at that point it's not just simple stupidity, it's a mental issue.

I have no problem with the $5 fee as it doesn't affect me. I pay for everything with my Amazon Visa (ironic for this thread!) to earn reward points and have more fraud protection. Learned the hardway that fraud on a visa debit card/check card is a pain in the ass as the bank takes their sweet time refunding your money, where as with a credit card fraud they just take the charges right off and you never pay it.

So my BOA card is nothing but an ATM card I use for deposits and withdrawals. BOA sucks as a company, but they have ATMs everywhere and I travel a good bit, so I keep them for that convenience--and the robust online bill pay system they have.

There are actually quite a few banks that reimburse atm fees that have lower deposit thresholds than the one I suggested, but have limits on covered transactions ranging from 10-15. I know convenience trumps social justice for you, but don't shoot me for continuing to try to sway you...heh.;)

Hard to get upset about that. If a fire alarm goes off, you have to evacuate until the building is deemed safe regardless of whether it's a warehouse or your condo building etc.

Had to stand out in below freezing whether plenty of times my freshman year of college from drunk morons pulling the fire alarm in the dorm in the middle of the night. Had no choice but to evacuate or risk getting a fine from the fire marshall if you were found still inside your room.

ya, I can't really get upset about that, because you know if he got let back inside and there was a fire and something happened to him you'd never hear the end of it.
