AMC's The Walking Dead - S3 2nd half starts 02/10/13 9PM ET
I'm starting to not even care about the characters and how they act. Partially because it drags on, partially because they are just getting kind of crappy.
For me, I stopped caring about the characters when they changed artists...which was a pretty long time ago. Adlard's art had a lot of emotional detail in it. Moore just looks like he slops it together to meet a deadline.

As soon as Shane got out of the car with that distraught look on his face, I knew he'd probably do something like that.
Great ending to the episode.

Judging from next week's preview,
hopefully they resolve finding Sofia cause it's dragged on way too long now.

Was a sweet ending but
that was a dick move! Looking forward to them finally finding the stupid girl and fixing up Carl. Tired of the focus on them.

Daryl was great in this episode too.
I loved that ending, about time someone did that.
agreed now thats survival of the fittest and you knew it was coming i mean cmon. guess they will have him turning on rick soon enough.

They sold the fuck out of
Carl dying but then having that seizure. For a second there I really thought he was gone. If it hadn't been overshadowed by Shane shooting Otis it would have easily been the best moment of the episode. Overall though, that was a spectacular episode and among the show's best so far.

That was a good episode. So now that Shane seems to be going to the dark side...
maybe he'll get in a fight with Rick and we'll get the volume 1 ending that we got in the comic.
Was it just me or did Maggie's accent get better this episode? I could not stand it in the first episode and it was tolerable in this one.
I agree. Makes it more realistic (imo) that eventually it would come to that and quicker rather than later.

Reminds me of the comic when Rick killed the head convict who planned on kicking them out of the prison
True, but
in the comic Dexter was actually trying to kick everyone out of the prision and/or kill them. Otis was actually trying to help them out. I kinda felt bad for the dude since he was actually a nice guy in the TV show but in the comic he was a douche bag.

I liked the whole Daryl and Andrea interaction
I wouldn't mind if they got together and she didn't get with Dale like she does in the comic.

Actually,
in the comic it was Patricia trying to help Dexter and the other prisoners, not Otis. He was still a douchebag, though.

The preview for next week's show had
a brassiere in it
so hopefully there will be
a basic cable sex scene
- possibly Daryl and Andrea.

This was the best episode since the first or second of LAST season. I agree with some of the other posters that both the Sophia and Carl situation have dragged out a little too long - hopefully all that shit will wrap up next week. The opening was great - it had me hooked immediately. The way it was used to wrap up the episode was almost spine-tingling.
I was wondering when everyone would stop trying to save each other and survival of the fittest would kick in. Granted, Shane made a difficult, but calculated move. If he hadn't stopped the zombies, they would have both died and Carl probably would have died in surgery. Besides, it's not like Otis didn't sacrifice himself once in the gym - I thought THAT was his sacrifice. Don't forget - he's the one who shot Carl in the first place.

Favorite part had to be the guy out in the woods
who got bit and tried to hang himself, turned into a zombie, then had his legs chewed off by other zombies.
I'm with Daryl, I would have just left him dangling.

Meh, Meh and more Meh. The ending was good, doesnt make up for the other 45 min.

I noticed that it was 33 min in before anything relevant actually happened. Their ability to show things while doing nothing at all is inspiring to all college students.

What frustrates me about this show is the fact that most of the time when writers decide to destroy the plot of a book adaptation its because the book doesnt have enough action to support a short span. In this case the source material has PLENTY of action in it to support a show.

I thought the hanging zombie scene was going somewhere, I even sat up a little in anticipation, oh whats this? It only served to reestablish that the bitch doesnt want to live. Wow...we only did that 3 times already. The missing kid is dragging on WAY to long, either have her be found or get eaten. Using a self lost kid (the way she got lost was stupid) as a plot device to keep the them on the road is laughable.

You know, you are kind of right. This show does know how to drag shit out. I guess I let a few highlights get me excitedBetween the twenty-minutes of deciding whether or not Carl should live in this world anymore and everything else relating to whether or not Andrea still should, it is getting a bit exhausting beating a dead horse. When Herschel was saying, "I need you to make the decision right now..." I was like, "yeah, this shit's over in 15 minutes, hurry the hell up." They spent half the episode debating on Carl, "what will she choose" only for her to choose the logical choice, then for it not to even matter because JUST IN THE NICK OF TIME - Shane showed up with all the shit they needed, making her decision totally fucking worthless, except that the kid was already on the operating table when he arrived.

The ending made me forget all the wasted time between zombie attacks. I think I was also checking my Fantasy Football/email/porn during most of the blahblahblah dragout scenes.

Shane continues to be the most interesting and complex character in the show.
One minute you wanna cheer him and the next you wanna cheer him. The events that unfolded tonight were a bit of both. It really begs the question as to whether or not Shane did it out of self-preservation under the guise of ultimately saving Carl, or if his intentions were noble and he made an "I did what I had to do" move.

I never read the comics, but I know his ultimate fate there, and I'm glad they kept him around.

I know. I meant to say
that Dexter needed to die since he was going to kill people eventually but Otis was a douche bag racist but didn't want to kill anyone. In the show, as far as we know Otis was a nice dude trying to do the right thing and I felt bad for the dude. If they had killed the comic version of Otis I don't think anyone would have cared so now I understand why they took those liberties with Otis.

I don't understand why people are complaining because there is a lack of action. The comic has a lot of action but there is a lot of drama that gets the characters into those situations and is more important than almost all of the action.

I think you are thinking that action simply means explosion explosion big explosions. That isnt the case here. I think when people say action when referring to this show they really mean, "when are they going to do anything remotely interesting?" Drama would be high tension moments that have an affect on the ongoing series, they rarely do this and when they do they wind up drilling it into the ground over and over. I.E. We got that blondie is deciding on whether she wants to live. You dont need another filler scene to reexplaining it.

And thats not new, they did that all of last season also, I still cringe at the stupid fucking 20 min fishing story she told in the first season. "My dad cut the bait for me...but didnt for my sister...that means he loves us."

The comic has both drama and action....in the show both serve as just the chocolate chips and nuts sprinkled on top of a big bowl of faffing about.

i think what annoys people about the show, aside from the shitty cast they cant connect with , is that without seeing the occasional zombie you wouldnt know it was a zombie show due to the lack of tension and worry. death is freakin everywhere and its hungry for the living but they are always doing shit that goes against that like yelling or talking loudly or just roaming about without scanning their surrounding for any sign of danger.

without the occasional infusion of zombies it comes off like a poorly made lifetime drama where a group of strangers are just trying to get along. in the comics the tension is in damn near every scene and you never knew who would die or how. in the show youre just conting the days till they weed out the useless and annoying characters and the show picks up speed.

im still curious to see
michione
join the cast but when you look at the way they handled most of the casting instead of being a cold badass shell be a plucky cheerleader with deadly pompoms and a heart of gold.

I have no idea how they are going to make that work. Especially since a lot of the deal with that deals with what happened with the gov. Which clearly wont be shown on tv.

that could work and itd make the hand scene have more meaning but thatd mean pushing that back anther season or 2 so itd give him time enough to get that power.

I have a question about that t-dog guy..... (very much comic spoilers)
he's not supposed to be tyrese is he? He was one of my favorite characters in the comic and this would not do tyrese justice.

also probably beating a dead horse here but.... (def do not open if you dont follow the comic)
carl needs to shoot Shane already!

About time that somebody pulled the dick move. No surprises, but the sooner we get the ball rolling on that and away from the Sophia B.S., the happier I'll be.

I dont know why Im drawing a blank on his name right now since he was in the comic recently but his kid was reading an issue of invincible in one of the older issues.

I have to disagree with that. I like that there are some changes from the comic so that it gives some surprises here and there. Also, I really like how the character has developed and is my fav out of the bunch.

Have never read the comics, but I'm enjoying the show a lot. Surprised to find so much griping about the series. Sure some of the acting is laughable, but otherwise I liked season 1 a lot and am enjoying season 2 so far.

Maybe because I'm not usually into zombie/horror in general so I like that it's more about the characters?

I think it's easier to like the show if you haven't read the comics.

I watched the first season and liked it for the most part before reading. Then I started reading along side starting the second season and the show just seemed ridiculously slow in its pacing and it becomes apparent that the source material is much better than the show.

I think that
Carl has to shoot Shane eventually. I don't have a problem with them doing other stuff with Shane and I actually like his character but I would be very disappointed if Carl didn't shoot him. That is not Tyresse. I am pretty sure I read an article that said he was going to be coming later, besides T-dog is a pussy compared to Tyresse.

I thought
they already said that Merle was not going to turn into the Governor. I am only caught up to Book 3 but there is a lot of shit that goes down with the Governor and Michone that is not going to be on the show. That would have to be another Hostel movie...

I hadn't heard about
them saying that Merle wouldn't be the Governor but I still feel like the setup is there. At any rate we definitely haven't heard the last of him

Another full episode with nothing more than faffing about. The only good thing to take away from it is short round putting his short round to good use.

I really liked this show last year, but man this season doesn't have much of a plot. I feel 2 kid story lines should have taken 2 episodes max to wrap up. Each episode's plot can be summarized in a sentence or 2.
Yeah either find the kid or ditch her
I agree. They're certainly dragging a lot of drama out of that one. Feels like it's holding progress back.

I like this show, it's good, but a lot of people rave about it and there's currently two better dramas on TV airing at the same exact time Walking Dead is on.
Pretty meh episode. Only thing good was next week's preview
Merle returns!

that black guy is very badly injuried

he already badly injured

he only cut his arm but almost bled out. Its funny how theres never a real doctor around only vets

Ahh, plenty of bitching about the episode, must be Monday morning.

Geeks are never satisfied with a TV show until its about to get canceled, then it's the best show on TV.

Lol, except this time it wouldn't be missed. I wish Boardwalk Empire was popular enough to be bitched about, but this is CAG so. . . :\
