You can't fathom that Nintendo fans are buying them for display? I have all the Amiibo's and have barely used them on my Wii U or 3DS.

You do realize Nintendo has never really released toys and this is the closest thing we've ever got besides McDonald toys?

 
Everybody should relax this is just day 3 since the new wave release date is announced. Still have about 2 more months to go.

Of course amiibo are selling better than Wii U and 3DS they only cost $13. Wii U and 3DS have also been in the market for a long time and they function the same compare to the other models available.

Emailed the Big N about the apparent shortage of Amiibo figures. They responded reassuring me they'd be at least as easy to find as these.

World of Nintendo toys have a lot put this year.
 
It gets harder and harder with every wave to explain to our middle child who has special needs on why he can't have a silly toy that's plastered, advertised and hyped all over everything Nintendo. Thankfully toon link and Yoshi weren't to bad to get from the last wave. Here's hoping Wario and PacMan are common!

Someone poke me in a few hours and remind me to share with all of you my Skylanders story with a random stranger from Craigslist. This thread could use some cheer and a bit of kindness.

I sympathize with the unfortunate souls trying to preorder from GameStop online. I can imagine I would be just as displeased, if I were trying to use the website during the meltdown. My thanks to my fellow CAGs for informing us that it was only in-store, and online preorders would not be possible.

Ness will be up for pre order again, who knows when tho. Shulk came available for instore pre order a few times so I'm not worried about ness. The only one I'm worried about is Greninja.

Sold one of my gold Marios this morning for $45, used the cash on Mario Kart 8 with GCU discount and a RZ cert, so I'm fairly pleased with the deal. Considering saving my other one for around Christmas. Just took a gander at the new ones, and even though I have no real interest in collecting these.....I gotta say that Captain Olimar looks bad ass. Hopefully I'll spot one in the wild one day.

well, just be aware that CL scalpers learned the sad kid story long time ago. they've been using it to get more amiibo for cheap. Sometimes they ask their kids to play the part.. Scalping is a family affair for some El hoardos.

The harder these are to get, the more I am motivated to get them. If everything was a common then I would have never entered the amiibo bandwagon. These are just cheap $6 toys they are selling for $13. Being hard to find is a good thing imo. It's an attribute that attracted me to comics.

Why not ebay? It's becoming too much of a hassle for me, I may just go that route for some of these.

Unfortunately for collectors, that mentality is increasingly common. ;_;

I would love other people getting into amiibo, if Nintendo would just adjust supply to accommodate. I don't care if they're rare, but I do care if I can't own this sweet collectible merchandise.

Don't get why people assume it's for the money, it's not. I'm not buying out a whole inventory to sell them. I get them for myself which is one or two. I am missing a ton of other amiibo and these are good for trading.

 
Personally, I'd have picked up Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Zelda, Kirby, and Metroid characters in addition to Captain Falcon, Shulk, Ness, Little Mac, Bowzer, Yoshi, and Sonic on release day if at all possible. 

Fox and Mega Man would be iffy, but I could wait for a sale on the others. 

By the way, does anyone know how Newegg handles preorders? Are they generally reliable and is customer service good?

They over sold the last wave. They basically sent an email saying, 'cancel the order or wait forever and cross your fingers.'

Still have an open order for DeDeDe.

 
Amiibo = A maximum inventory is bad offering.

Wii U = Watch it initially Underperform

Mii = Master is iwata

Nintendo Grand Plan, a combination of these philosophies equating to AWM = All Worlds Mastered.

Nintendo isn't really known for their sales, but I agree that most people would not be begging Nintendo to take their money if these were all common. There wasn't a lot of interest until rarity started being discussed. I only bought Fox and Samus early on figuring I could wait and decide which others I wanted, but then news came out that some figures were selling out already and I felt like I had to preorder all the figures if I didn't want to pay over MSRP. Now it's looking like you have to be lucky to even get a preorder for most figures.

 
Why must Gamestop put these ugly huge stickers on there Amiibos?  I had the guy peel mine off when i bought Sonic and told him that if that sticker doesn't come off without peeling the cardboard then I am not buying it.

Another option might be local game shops in your area. If they purchase from a distributor, such as Ingram, they were able to place an order beginning on Thursday. The shop I work at in KY placed one, and as the picture shows, are currently prebooked for release day. Now Nintendo has in the past tightened allocation at the last minute, so they may not get all of the ones they order, but they could be a saving grace for some.
