Perhaps that employee or the reporter who reported it (Polygon) knew the real time they would go up and wanted to keep the servers from crashing so they could order a crap ton to scalp on ebay.

Might be some bad news for those that missed out on greninja and planning to got for the preorder cards.

The one thing I will say that hints to me that there may still be preorder cards available in store regardless of the "communication" is how quick the turnaround was between Nintendo Direct and the preorder announcements. For the other things mentioned in that article (Wave 2.. MP10..) the details had been known and a strategy was in place. This just seems like a total cluster, which leads me to hope that in-store is a viable option.
