I agree with whomever predicted Gold / Silver being variants like Skylanders. My guess is there will be 5000 of each made and will *bottom out* in value at about $200 each after the initial push (First couple sold will be $600-850).

 
those figures would make perfect sense as the final Club Nintendo sendoff rewards for gold and platinum members

if theyre not, they missed a good opportunity to do it right

i can imagine these would go for over $100 on ebay if they are exclusive sendoff rewards, which would suck for those of us who would want both and can obviously only choose 1 or the other

Members who reach Elite Status will be able to choose a downloadable game from a wide selection of Nintendo 3DS and Wii U titles. Imagine Platinum Mario for Platinum or Gold members for 3 or 4+ years, and Gold Mario for platinum or Gold members for less than 3 or 4 years?

Someone would be able to trade a Platinum Mario for the entire Amiibo collection.

Would be so awesome if they were a gift for people that were platinum every year of Club Nintendo, but that'll never happen. No chance it's a CN reward
 
So has anyone else placed in-store pick up orders online through Gamestop.com? I ask because all of my amiibo preorders now show an order status of "closed". One for just Shulk, and one for Dedede, Sonic, Megaman, and Ike. They were "open" as of the last time I checked, and I never received notification that they were being closed. Makes no sense, as I have other pre-orders for in-store pickup that are not amiibo related and those are still "open" as well.

Now I'm worried...

I can see something like at least 3 years of Platinum gets you a gold variant, and full time Platinum gets you the silver or whatever. Doubt it, but would be cool if they did.

 
I would rather have the gold one than the silver one.. that would suck if the gold one wasn't availble for platinum members

i dunno I don't think they officially said it was for sure digital games, they made it sound like it would be digital games, but that doesn't mean they won't add physical stuff on top of it. I think people are just reading too much into it that the reward will only be digital. If they added physical items for the points available now there's no reason they can't add more physical items for the club nintendo platinum rewards.

 
I have a feeling that these will be case variants. Does anyone remember the article where someone from Gamestop was told by Nintendo that the SMB figures would be readily available? I bet they will be but they'll be sticking these fucking things randomly in cases.

I need to know how to get these because I felt my sanity slip a bit when I got the news.

Amazon.com has been really slow. I still don't have any of what I pre-ordered (Sheik, Toon Link, Bowser), and just got a shipping estimate of March 3rd for Toon Link, like, last week.

Amazon.co.jp, though, shipped on the night of launch (despite me not having Prime in Japan), it made it to my Tenso in 2 days, and Tenso (my reshipping service) got it to me before Sheik even crept out into those Target stores. Part of that was due to the exhorbinant shipping fees, BUT STILL.

I just think NOA and Amazon NA are continuing to have the same issues with each other they usually have. I mean heck, Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker usually is in stock only half the time on Amazon.

So far TRU has been keeping up with fulfillment (if slowly), though after what they went through with wave 3, they might not bother to take pre-orders for Smash wave 4 or Mario wave 1. And I wouldn't blame them.

Highly doubtful considering that this year will probably have the most elite members and the rewards have gone to shit probably because of the # of elite members

It was mentioned by several people in here. Most believe it's "closed" because they are being shipped to the store. We won't know until the stores start getting the Wave 3 in.

That'd be an absolute nightmare as they'd be snatched up every single time by employees at each retailer never to see the light of a retail shelf.

I also feel the insanity though I'm keeping it at bay right now because nothing has been announced yet so not stressing about what might not be yet. Just trying to plan for several possibilities ;)

 
Having them colored that way is going to make everyone think club Nintendo rewards for the final gold/ platinum reward. Would love for that to happen. We'll have to wait and see. Could very well just be retail exclusive coloration.

Got my two Lucarios today. (one for opening, one for keeping sealed) One of them has an odd paint blemish on his arm. Looks like 3 dots forming a triangle...

In case varients would be the absolute worst nightmare for collectors. They could single handedly kill the market.

Varients would sky rocket in value. They'd be plucked from boxes before ever making it to shelves. Regular versions would collect dust on shelves because most people wouldn't want only the standard version.

I've seen this happen in collectable miniatures. But those are usually blind packs, which really only ruin the value on the secondary market. Having a blister pack varient could be Nintendo's jump the shark moment.

Got my Lucarios in from Amazon Germany. One is near perfect and the other is a bit rough. I've actually been pretty lucky on these overseas shipments.

Platinum costs more than silver i think and besides, when's the last time we've seen something platinum coated that's not jewelry? We'll have to see. I don't think Nintendo World actually sells anything exclusive though, hard to get yes, but nothing that can only be bought from the store except for those sweet ass shopping bags.

If this is just cheap gold color paint I can easily see this being produced a lot more. It's more less costly to dip a statue in a jar of paint vs. coloring each piece and painting a face on it.

I'm not gonna be doing those variants. I'm only interested in the SSB series. They'd be cool CN rewards, but I'm guess they'll do digital games for that again.

It will be interested to see how this plays out considering Toys R Us is still sitting on a massive pile of those crystal Infinity figures they got the exclusive on. I personally have no interest in color variants of this type.
