Since this auction will most likely get pulled by eBay by morning, I'll update the current status of it:
11 hours in (started at 11:16 on the 10th), 15 bids, up to $1125 now. Shipping is a (very low, actually, considering this thing will weigh a ton) $25. Was from a Gamestop preorder.
Now, with all the other ones being pulled earlier today, why is this one still up??
OK, it appears many more are up now.
I did a quick search for "Sony Playstation 3 preorder" and it came up with a total of 8 auctions. 3 of those are for lists of stores that will presell (WTF?) for $29.99.
The remaining 5 seem to be for real PS3s:
1) the 20GB model, currently at $710 (zero fb bidder)
2) a 60GB, also curiously at $710 from a zero fb bidder
3) TWO PS3's and 19 games (!), currently at $1222 without meeting the reserve and a Buy It Now option for $6000.
4) A 60GB with a Buy It Now of $1850.
5) A 60GB with starting bid of $2500 and Buy It Now of $3000 (no bids yet).
If you take the word "Sony" out of the search you get a few more

- dumbass sellers...
OK, if you take out "preorder" and search on "Playstation 3 60GB" you get 50 active auctions. "Playstation 3 60 GB" nets 21 more.
As for *completed* auctions:

You MUST look at this one:

And this wierd one from a few weeks ago (went for only $610):
http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-PlayStatio...ryZ62054QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
OK, those were the only 2 with the word "preorder". It seems people aren't using that word very much. Just searching for completed "Playstation 3 60 GB" and "Playstation 3 60GB" that ended Oct 10th, I get these completed auctions:
1) A Buy It Now for $1700 ended early by the seller (he caught on to the bannings?)
2) One for $1799, bought by a zero-feedback bidder
3) One for $1495
4) One for $1365
5) A Best Offer accepted for $1250
6) $1499
7) $1250
8) $1900 (!)
9) $1250
10) $1999 (!!)
and several that were killed by the sellers due to "an error in the listing"
But THAT IS IT for that search - it seems most were killed by eBay as I'm sure there were 100's (if not 1000's) up today. Just comparing completed to the current active ones it simply seems that eBay is not as active this late at night killing them off - I'm sure many will be gone by morning.
I'm just wasting time avoiding doing my work

. The whole ebay dynamic is kind of interesting to me though...
