Say hello to the 8th Wonder of the world

andrecag27ob.jpg

Undoubtedly the biggest attraction in wrestling history, Andre the Giant was certain to receive a wrestling topic. Andre shall guide us into Wrestlemania; where he was a part of one of the most memorable moments in sports history at Wrestlemania III. Andre was also the first member of the WWE Hall of Fame, and now he has acquired CAG fame, by getting a wrestling topic.

You can revisit Ricky Steamboat by clicking his name.

or if you want to go way back into time you can revisit:

Razor
Tenta
Hogan
and Vince

Yes, he was in the Princess Bride, and I was actually thinking about watching it right now. As for your question Guile, there's no doubt in my mind that Andre the Giant was stronger. Andre was also a few inches taller and his max weight was easily over 100lbs more than Big Show's current weight.

Of course Andre had giantism causing his abnormal size, while I think the Big Show is just huge for no particular reason.

Andre suffered from acromegaly (gigantism as it is known). Big Show didn't have that but did have a pituary gland issue.
Ring of Honor has a shoot video with One Man Gang.

I'd love to hear his take on Akeem.

myke.
It was such a lame character, but oh so funny at the same time. I'd love to hear his take on it too.

Just out of curiousity are you fan of lanny poffo or do you have him as your avatar just to be funny?

Yes. I'm also starting work on my Ph.D., so the avatar seems relevant.

...so, is MorbidAngel4Life gone, due to he and JimmieMac's little tiff? Lame.

Basically, Jimmie attacks me and drags Morbid, Nephets, and Z-5 into it and Morbid doesn't take kindly to it. I'm not talking about it either, just letting you see why he's not going to be on for awhile.

Man, for a bunch of marks that watch wrestling there sure aren't alot of people that like the same kind of entertainment on a message board.

Also note that the excessive swearing is from Morbid's side, because, quite frankly, he's not that smart, so he has to resort to autistic type swearfests.

And that's about all I got to say about that.

Best lines in Princess Bride is when they're talking about storming the castle with 30 men guarding the door.

The whole exchange between him and the other 2 is just really good stuff. I'm gonna go check it out now.

I talked to Morbid on AIM last night for awhile, he said he's just taking a brief hiatus to try and let things cool down.

I think the real problem is that people take Jimmie too damn seriously; remember it's only an internet message board. I know it is CAG, but still in no way should something someone says about you over the internet bother you, unless you know the person in real life.

Jimmie, I appreciate you trying to bring the focus of the topic back to Andre the Giant/wrestling, and I'd appreciate it if everyone else would do the same.

Of course... as I say that, I feel obligated to ask Myke what he's working on getting a Ph.D in. My first and only guess will be astrophysics (I'm pretty sure LedHed is the only one that would get that).

Sociology; I would be in Criminal Justice (my area of research interest is corrections), but I feel that my options in soc are much greater. I still have another 3-4 years to go, give or take. I have a few major exams to occupy me next year, and starting (hopefully) in mid-2006, I'll start doing some interview work for the project I'm proposing for my dissertation (which would involve interviewing recidivists - those who have left prison and returned on subsequent offenses). I think corrections is important, and I hope to do some cross-cultural research in the future (i.e., get grant money to study prisons in Japan, and propose hypotheses why such a densely populated industrialized nation has so little crime compared to the United Stated). I enjoy what I do, but I sometimes question what I've chosen to look at. This is most evident when I talk to a colleague (first year M.A. student) who is studying emotional labor in strippers. He's going to collect his own data, he tells me.

HI-larious.

The last thing I'll say about JM and MA4L's brutal public breakup: I understand enough to only take very few people seriously online; that having been said, sometimes this place looks a little too much like GameFaqs for my own comfort. I imagine that, much like persistently online nerds (such as myself), no matter how frequently we claim to disappear, we do lurk quietly. That having been said, I look forward to the day when MA4L decides to show up again. For fuck's sake, someone here has to like JBL for the rest of us.

myke.
...Guyver, I appreciate you passing on that QD; hopefully, this will work with Cingular. Allow me to cross my fingers.

Alright kids, back to the shenanigans. Go look at Gail Kim's boobs.

Heh, my old roommate is majoring in Criminal Justice.

Anyone know a good site to go to to get the SD spoilers? I used to use prowrestling.com and rajah, but now they both just dump a shitload of spyware on you making them worthless.

I typically go to lordsofpain.net or 411mania.com if I'm looking for spoilers.
Gail Kim. She was once on the Sport of Honkey's
It says WWE before all that Japanese. Is she a WWE diva now or something?

I think they fired her. I never really pay attention to the whores they parade out. Unless they show their tits.

She wasn't much of a wrestler but you should see her box.

Not to be snarky (which means precisely that I'm going to be snarky), that's Korean.

Hey, JBL is a wrestling GOD.

I dig his character.

I already saw Gail's pics. Playboy could take lessons.

HAHAHAHAHA! Christy on Howard Stern recap:

When I tuned in, Christy was going head-to-head against an 11-year-old girl in a trivia quiz, and a guy in a wheelchair would win 10 grand courtesy of the WWE if Christy could win. She got annihilated (her words) by the kid, the last question was "Who ran against Bush and Cheney in 2004" and Christy took a few minutes and finally blurted out John Kerry, but not the VP. The kid got that right also, ending the contest. The poor guy didn't win, but then they announced he would receive $5,000 instead.

The rest of the recap.

I hate prowrestling.com... no one EVER go there, I tried to get the smackdown spoilers to post here, and instead my computer just received a good ol' fashioned assfucking from all their spyware. I'm so made right now, I'm going to go watch a dvd or play a video game.

..switch to Mozilla Firefox while you're at it.

mozilla has done me no favors in the past, I use Avant browser now because it's faster, and has a built-in pop-up and spyware blocker, yet today all of that shit failed. Plus I clicked on my msn messenger hotmail link to see what was going on in that, since I hadn't in so long, and it decided to open with IE, despite the fact that Avant is my default browser. So, I'm sure that just added to the clusterfuck.

Whereas I visit prowrestling.com multiple times daily and use Firefox and haven't had one problem.

It's very sad to look at a list of wrestlers that have died in the past few years.. some still haven't sank in..

I'm specifically referencing higher name superstars such as Brian Pillman, British Bulldog, Owen Hart, Rick Rude, Renegade (I was a fan when he was in WCW), Miss Elizabeth, Yokozuna, Stu and Helen Hart, Road Warrior Hawk..

Granted, Stu and Helen never played a huge role in WWF/E, but they played a huge role in its stars.. such as Hart and Benoit. British Bulldog's death was almost three years ago and it still doesn't seem like he's passed.
Didn't Renegade do himself in after his fake-warrior gimmick flopped?
Yep. I think Bobby Duncum Jr. committed suicide also, although it may have been a more ambiguous situation.

I feel peculiar watching old programs. Perhaps you're familiar with it:

"Oh, hey! It's ________!!! Man, I forgot he's been dead for years now! Oh, he's dead too! Shit, only Hogan's alive!"

myke.
...only Dino Bravo went out with style; rumor has it he was gunned down mafia-style (like the toll booth scene from The Godfather), as he was involved in the Canadian/American border cigarette-smuggling operations at the time. Bad ass, I tell you.

Yeah, Dino Bravo got shot up in a hotel room, 1920's Chicago gangster style.

I know what you're saying about dead people. Like when they go over the Hall of Fame inductees my girl is always like "Is he still alive?" "How about him?" I'll be going donw the list, Yes, No,No, Yes,No, that ref there in the background, Dead, his Dad was an announcer, he's dead too, the guy he worked with, throat cancer.

***BREAKING NEWS****

WWE Leaves Spike TV

[email protected]

Spike TV sent out a press release earlier today announcing they have closed negotiations with WWE regarding renewing their five-year contract.

It is believed to now be a formality that WWE Raw and the rest of the weekend cable shows, Heat, Velocity and Experience, will be moving to the USA Network in September.

"After several months of negotiations, we have decided to end our discussions about extending our relationship wiht WWE beyond September 2005," wrote Spike TV in a press release. "Moving forward, Spike TV will expand its investments in original programming and new acquisitions for its core audience."

This is a huge blow to the network, as Raw was, by far, its most popular program and led to it be the No. 4 rated network when it came to the coveted 18-34 and 18-49
