I assume you're watching, rawisjericho? I just read the results up to this point, and the ladder match and HBK/Angle matches sounded excellent.

myke.
...ha, ha, HHH will win. (I bet my predictions suck.)
Yeah I've been watching it. The ladder and HBK/Angle matches were pretty good. I liked the Undertaker/Orton the best. I'm going to go watch the HHH/Batista match now. I bet it is going to suck, but I'm sure it can't get any worse than the JBL/Cena match.
The lack of interference in the Cena-JBL match is interesting. I don't really see the logic.
Well, I predicted that the entire state of California was going to interfere on JBL's behalf, so I was *way* off. That's a great point, though, since he has never won a major title match cleanly (including the Great American Bash title win).

myke.
...despite the main event not having occurred yet, can some of you rank this WM? Which have been better, which have been worse, which are roughly on the same level?
You know, it's time some of these guys (e.g., The Hurricane) become aware of their lot in life and just fucking go to TNA. "I have a match at Wrestlemania" he says. What a doofus.

Sure, I fell for it, but, dammit, I don't fucking work there.

myke.
Paul London also confirmed he would be in the battle royal. Perhaps it will be an off-air "bonus match" that will get released on the DVD as an extra?

I used to say that last years Wrestlemania was the worst one ever. After watching Wrestlemania 21, I must say that it deserves the spot for worst Wrestlemania ever.

You though XX was bad? I always voted for VIII or IX, although XIII is close (saved by the excellent Austin/Hart match).

myke.
...I didn't much care for XV either.

I thought last year's Mania was pretty good. Jericho-Christian was excellent, and the double main-event was off the charts.
Crash said he ordered it at $50, I went and checked, and yeah, it's $50. That's nuts.
Hmm.. yeah, it was $50 here, but the Comcast person said $34.95.. so.. we're going to (hopefully) stick to that.

That said, I loved the event.. I don't know why people are nitpicking, I thought it was overall great..

Guerrero vs. Mysterio was good, it was only brought down by Rey constantly checking his mask. I'm guessing a connecting strap broke or something.. had it not, Rey would've given an outstanding performance.. I love when these two get in the ring, it's usually fast-paced. I can't wait for Psychosis to come to WWE. It's funny how Eddy goes from being a world champion to curtain jerking Wrestlemania..

Money in the Bank match was decent, hadn't had a good ladder match in a while. I noticed Christian anchoring the ladder at an angle for something, though I thought someone was going to get suplexed on it.. Shelton running up it was awesome. Edge winning the match makes sense, but I didn't think it'd happen due to the backstage drama with Matt and Lita.

The women's match and the sumo match were the only slow points of the PPV.. I fell asleep during the HBK/Angle match (I love a good submission match, but this match literally bored me to sleep).. Cena/JBL was kept short (which I liked), good to see the strap finally off JBL. I marked out hard when Hogan's music hit. Piper's Pit was great.. then Carlito came down and shitted all over the segment. Orton's chokeslam reversal RKO was beautiful, but i'm glad he didn't lose.. and thank god the strap is finally off Trips. Overall, I was satisfied with the PPV.

Quick winners list in case someone needs it..

Mysterio
Edge
Trish
Akebono
Cena
Batista
Angle
Undertaker

Anyone else notice how the lead singer of Motorhead seemed to be completely and utterly trashed? Kept slurring words, kept getting them in the wrong order.. he was either completely wasted or didn't care.

Oh, and if anyone went to that event, let me know. I want one of the JBL $100 bad.

I thought Wrestlemania XX was pretty good, especially the Goldberg/Lesnar match and the fan reactions (which I hear are edited out of the DVD's).. I'll agree with Myke, aside from Hart/Austin, WM13 was pretty awful.. I think my favorite is still WM12.

The HBK/ Angle match was the match of the night by far. Once Angle ran HBK into the ring post, the match just started getting really good. There were too many reversals of the ankle lock though.

and the HHH match was good only because HHH looked like the Red Skull when the match was over. though the way the match went down was boring as hell (both title matches were extremely boring)

the ladder match was really good, except all of them took 5 minute breaks in between air time and Edge just walked up and grabbed the briefcase

I will say that there is no way this was worth 50 bucks though. Maybe 20 on a good night if you get a few people to kick in some bucks, but 50 dollars is crazy

Edit: Hogan was awesome as well. I was glad to see him come out to beat up Hassan, though he milked it towards the end

you mention someone was trashed and don't bring up Piper? That dude was wasted the whole damn show, the beer was just to keep the buzz on

IIRC, one Motorhead album's liner notes include thank you's from Lemmy to Maker's Mark and Marlboro Reds. There's your indicator.

I look forward to Matt Young's thoughts on the show (and perhaps spoilers as to who won the Bennigan's gift card).

ZL, put the link to the new thread in here before you lock it, if you don't mind.

myke.
...I'll buy the DVD for the sake of completeness, certainly.
I seriously hope Matt picked up a stack of those JBL 100 dollar bills for us here at CAG.
God, me too. I have a friend who would be so pissed that I have one.
