Thanks for the info everyone.
I haven't had that error on my android phone, but if it's anything like installing on an ipad, it needs almost double the final amount to install it. For example, a 440MB app would take 880 to install it, but in the end, it would only use up the 440 on your storage. Again, I don't know if this is the case, but it's possible.
I have thought about this possibility, but I have installed some apps that are a gig+ (some Gameloft games) which are bigger than my total app storage. However, most big apps I have installed have been from Google and not Amazon. I am not for certain if I have received similar errors from Google Play. I have had this problem several times with Amazon, and usually uninstalling a couple of apps does the trick. This time it has not.
First, I can understand the double space requirement if it includes the downloading of the apk and then the space needed to copy the files from the apk to wherever the app's final destination happens to be. However, I have already downloaded the apk, it just won't install.
Second, one quirk of Android that I find really annoying: Most apps will default install to both app storage and internal storage, but you never know how much to each. You would think that if an app of ~400mb was installed, it would only install ~50-100 mb to app storage and the rest to internal. Therefore, you wouldn't need double in app storage of the entire thing. The install size give on Amazon is not specific enough.
My phone will generally give me that error if anything I will install will leave me with 300 mb or so of app storage after it's finished.
I guess I might need to uninstall more stuff then. I just wish I knew how much would be installed to app storage to begin with and how much is internal. That might be why some very large apps installed in the past (as mentioned above), i.e. most of the install must have gone to internal, while only 50mb or so went to apps storage. Does anyone know how much FF IV install to app storage by default?
I had issues installing FF4 as well. I kept getting "could not install app" from Amazon. It basically took an act of God & multiple restarts before it would install. My suggestion, at least this works on my phone, Switching from landscape to portrait and back.
For my phone (HTC Evo 3D) when it hits the error "cannot install app" instead of hitting ok I switch to landscape mode. It then attempts to install the phone again, I wait, if the error happens again I switch back to portrait mode. If you dont, make sure you have auto rotate screen on.
Do not hit ok & then try & redownload from Amazon again. I watched my memory drop by double & triple everytime I tried to re-DL it. Which is why I had to restart to clear the memory & Cache.
That worked for me, so maybe it could work for you? Always worth a shot right?
I will give that a try and see what happens, thanks.
