The old thread hadn't been updated in quite some time, so I decided to make a new one. If you happen to see a sale not listed in the OP, go ahead and post it and I will be sure it's added. The same goes for anything listed that has expired as most sales have no set time frame, let me know and I will remove expired sales. Thanks!

Slow times. Well, there are some good games coming out: Mojang's Scrolls comes out on the 11th and interactive fiction game 80 Days is coming out on the 16th, including on Amazon.
Got excited reading this until I clicked the link and saw that the Amazon button says Kindle Fire on it. So have a feeling the Amazon release will be restricted to their devices. Sucks. I want the game and would like to have gotten rid of some coins.

I hate when Amazon pulls that crap.

Google Opinion Rewards

I don't get too many - maybe one a week. They don't take any time at all. I had one that didn't give any credit (2 questions, demographic stuff), but I've had two that gave me $1.20 each. Easy way to fund app purchases. Most give between 20 and 50 cents.

Speaking of app purchases, Amazon needs to have a coin promo again soon. I'm down under 2000 coins.
A buck for telling them I don't use Google adwords. Pretty much worth my download time right there. Any more is gravy. Course I have this very long game for a tablet to finish first now, plus the original BG. May be a while before I need to spend any credit. I also have a 10 card I haven't added yet but I think that will be saved for when they add the second BG.

It's a good problem to have. Well that and left over credit due to Dragonfall being cheaper than expected. I guess they learned the price range of mobile better. I figured on about 10.

Sad thing is except for the load times and lack of ability to zoom in and out I think Dragonfall runs better on my tablet than my i5 laptop with a dedicated 2gb graphics card. I wish I knew what to tweak, but even with searching the net and contacting the developer I haven't found a solution. Course that makes the Android version even better for me I guess.

SimpleRockets - Build rocket ships with realistic physics and explore the solar system.

SimplePhysics - Design everything from tree houses to ferris wheels and then simulate your design with a realistic physics engine.

Dummy Defense - Protect your dummy from explosions, boulders, spiked walls, and more (using realistic physics, of course!)

BridgeBasher - Design a bridge and then destroy it. Oh, if you had not guessed, this one has realistic physics too.

All free on Play this weekend. I got them last time they were free. Pretty good games, worth a download anyway imo

2.5 Expiration Dates; Application of Coins. Purchased Coins do not expire. Promotional Coins expire one year after the later of the date we give them to you or the date you last purchased or redeemed Coins. When you make a purchase with Coins, any Promotional Coins you have will be applied first, followed by your Purchased Coins.
Doesn't this mean that the 1 year "resets" whenever I use some coins?

That's how I read it.

Damn, I only have 9000 Amazon Sheckles left.... ;)

They make it really hard to spend them....I know if I just wait long enough, the app on sale will be a FAOTD...

I did "buy" Fiz doe....
Yeah, it's the same for me. I often wait for apps to become free.

I usually spend my Amazon Coins on things that are likely not going to be offered for free, like in-app purchases. I usually use mine to buy pinball tables in Zen Pinball HD or Pinball Arcade.

You could also get some more episodes/season pass for the Telltale games like The Walking Dead.

Note in the details that "Hearthstone only runs on tablets that are 6 inches or larger at this time"

Size doesn't matter, right?

Already uninstalled that Warcraft card game...sixth training battle is impossible...did it five times, lost five times. Not bothering with a game that won't allow you to get past training.

Looks like 80 Days on the Amazon Appstore works with non-Fire Tablets, which is nice. Now, whether to spend $5 in coins or wait for a sale.
If I were you, I'd use the coins now. I did. I'm so tired of Amazon getting just a handful of the quality games on Google Play and being loaded with puzzle crap for 60 year olds bored on their Kindles. That and the BS they pull with a good portion of the desirable games being Kindle/Fire only,

I'm dumping my coins any time anything decent pops up and am down to my final 140 coins. After one more dollar game comes along, I'm done with Amazon. I'll check their freebies but that's it. Even with free coins, it's too much of a pain In the ass to even bother.

Oh, and 80 Days is fantastic.

You forgot to mention that their apps get updates later than their Play Store counterparts... or not at all (I'm looking at you, BlockLauncher Pro).

Anyone have good recommendations for a palette cleanser game in between sessions of my long rpgs and board games?  I'm looking for something that's good for short bursts, maybe a puzzler, 2D shooter, or platformer with great touch controls.  Power up/ level up elements are a plus

I loved Marvel Puzzle Quest but the F2P style really got me down after a very short time and I don't do the multiplayer.  Puzzle Quest 2 was fun but the room by room travel got old and irritating as all hell when trying to find stuff even with the portals. Currently my puzzler of choice is Slydris

I enjoyed Raiden Legacy and haven't played too many other shooters on my tablet.  I'd like something with more of a power up system probably.  I also have Symphony which looks really cool but didn't work on my tablet previously.  It's possible it may work now that I've rooted it and updated to Kit Kat.  I should probably check on that.

Yeah, the appstore is definitely not as good as Google Play, but the only reason I bother with it is all the free stuff they give out. I have a backlog of other games (just got hooked on Fiz), so I will hold out at least for a bit before getting 80 Days, but I've definitely been looking forward to it for a while.

One thing you left out is that Amazon's Game Circle is completely terrible in comparison to Google Play Games. It regularly doesn't sync or show the right achievements.

Personally I play Terra Battle in between my board games, but I am not sure if that is what you are looking for. I haven't hit the free to play wall in terra battle like I did MPQ yet at the very least.

Would multi quote elder and Zulu but I'm mobile. Not really looking for a free to play in general or wait style. Maybe they rebalanced mpq but I played the first 6 months or so and when only playing single player mode I hit a wall. I am offline frequently so something with a heavy multiplayer component or always online requirement is unfriendly to my circumstances.

I appreciate the suggestions though.

My filler game of choice is Rayman Fiesta Run (or Jungle Run, if you so choose). It's a jump and smash platformer with easy touch controls, and an element of puzzle-solving through repetition (for collecting purposes). Very good in short bursts to blow through a couple levels. Really fun soundtrack, too.

Terra Battle is also good, but I find that to be more of a strategy RPG. It's different than the games you're talking about in that there's a different mechanic, but there's still quite a bit of setting up your team, then planning and moving and attacking.

Just looking at other games on my phone (which just by looking makes me want to play Hearthstone again), Cut the Rope (and it's many iterations, BUT NOT 2) is my old fallback, I'll run a few rounds of QuizUp to get the noodle working, and the recently released Peggle Blast is a fun little time killer (even if it doesn't let you play your own music/podcasts in the background... which has limited my playtime with it).

the Play Store version and the Amazon App store version both use their respective stores checkout service, btw. I still had ~$20 of Kit-Kat promo Google Play credit, and a buttload of Coins from the previous free-coin deals + GTASA promo. I bought a 15 card-pack bundle on each store.

ALSO of note, buying the $20/2000coin 15-Card Packs bundle through the Amazon version nets you 1000 coins BACK ($50/5000 bundle gets 2500 back)

http://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/2pjiqz/psa_buying_40_packs_on_amazon_gets_you_2500/

Any current free-coin promos btw?

Nice. I can turn some of my Amazon coins into cards. This didn't even cross my mind.

You're welcome :)

Once I heard Hearthstone was coming to android wayyyyy earlier this year, I've been sitting on all my credit in eager anticipation. It payed off, I think...(though the only Legendary I got was a crap one, and one I already had at that).

So, sorry if this isn't the way to go but can someone explain the value of Amazon Coins (which I JUST HEARD OF for the first time last night) when I mainly use the Google Play store for everything, and RAAARREELLYYY, and I mean...like once every 34894 years rare, buy an app?

Thanks. :)

Hopefully someone else can post the link cause I'm mobile and even switching to desktop version can't get the nice link button to come up, but Baldur's Gate 2 is now up in the play store. 9.99.

I am actually going to hold off for now only due to having around 60-80 hours between Dragonfall and BG 1 before I can get to it. Maybe I can earn a good amount towards it through surveys before I need another rpg. I am really hoping for full character import/continuation since the enhanced editions use tutu like enhancements. Don't know how/if that worked in the EE versions on the pc. Really don't know if that's viable with Android.

Hmm really need that palette cleanser. I think I have at least one of the rayman runners from when it was free on amazon. Terra battle sounds really intriguing. Does it require a constant net connection? I am not sure if it is the quick pick up and play a session or two I am looking for but it certainly looks fun and a good change of pace.

Hm. I can't get the Amazon version of Hearthstone to install on my Shield tablet.  The Play Store version installs just fine, and I have like 4GB of free space, so I don't think it's a space issue.

Amazon Coins are basically credit that can be used to buy Android apps. 1 Amazon Coin = $0.01. Many apps offer Amazon Coins back after purchase. Once in awhile Amazon gives them away for different promos they run.

Promotional Amazon Coins expire a year from the date of issue.

I don't buy many apps myself. Amazon offers tons of free apps all the time so it makes it hard to spend that free credit, but they do come in handy once in awhile if there is a some sale or in-app purchase I want.

If anybody else encounters this problem, I found a workaround. Basically, the Amazon appstore would download the game, but when it went to install, it would work for a while, then just give me a vague "App not installed" message.

It only worked and installed when i removed the SD card from the tablet. Not sure about the particulars as to why this works, but it did.

Amazon AppStore (for me anyway) inherently tried to install everything to my SD card, even apps that are not supposed to run off of one. I'm guessing this was Hearthstone's issue. Thanks for sharing your fix.

But you use coins? How/Why do you bother if you buy apps just as often as I do? (I've like..bought 2 apps since smartphones came into existence lol). So basically, Amazon Coins isn't really for someone like me correct?

Sago's Mini Ocean Swimmer is free and, if you have a toddler, I can't recommend it enough.  A very gentle exploration type game with no end goal, just swimming about and pressing different things to see what happens.  Entering a cave to find a birthday party, a group of "tough" fish who break out instruments and play a song, etc.

This is one time a free promo actually worked on me because my wife saw how much he loved the game and told me to find whatever other games the developer makes and buy them.

It's less about pursuing the coins unless you buy a lot of apps. More like you buy a couple apps, wind up with $3 in coins/credit and later see a $3 app and it's a freebie since you paid with coins. I don't know if there's a way to buy them directly (vs getting them as promos) and don't think there'd be any benefit to doing so anyway.

Sago Sago has given away a few other games in the past. I have most of them. Although, I don't know why. My kids are too old for the toddler apps. I'm just collecting free apps at this point. :)

There are some free Avacado, Pocoyo, and Monki toddler apps in the Special Discounts section today.

My youngest son enjoys that free Coins In A Flash app.

The Toca Boca apps are pretty good too. Toca Kitchen is always free on Google Play. It sells for $2.99 on Amazon.

My kids loved the My PlayHome apps. Those are some good ones.

The lite version lets you play a few rooms and the outside.

Toca Town is is similar to it.

Yeah, I saw where you can buy them from the actual app Amazon appstore. But..I guess it isn't really for someone like me I suppose.

Do apps get updated on the Google Play store at the same time as they do in the Amazon store? If not, why would anyone pick the inferior Amazon appstore over the Google Play one? (Just questions, curious and wanting to learn. Thanks.)

I think for most on this site its price, many have all sorts of free coins and amazon credits earned from various places

Generally I just stick to play store sales, and even rebought things (when they went on a huge sale) on there when I got them for free over on amazon due to the huge latency in updates.  I dont know if they've gotten any better, but at least a few years ago sometimes they could run 6mo or more behind in updates

Kemco (retro JRPGs) is doing their annual 99 cent Holiday sale again now. Seems like it's a bit scaled back from previous years since I seem to remember more of their games being marked down in the past.
