Just got a notification that Underground has an update...doesn't work, won't even start installing without an error message...Amazon can't seem to get anything right.
 
The mobile limit doesn't work either. I was downloading Goat Simulator, and it wouldn't download without wi-fi, and kept popping up with a message every couple minutes. Couldn't cancel the damn download either. Had to finally connect to wi-fi and download it for it to shut up.

Amazon seems to have it for $0.99 as well. It doesn't seem to have the strike through for the old price. I wonder if this is a permanent price drop.

Another interesting thing that I noticed is that it seems to now be compatible w/ my non-Kindle tablet. It used to be Kindle only.

I got both Kingdom Rush Origins & Kingdom Rush Frontiers for free from past Amazon FAOTD.

Oh and I'm sure everyone already know that the first game Kingdom Rush is permanently free on Amazon and Google Play. You can also earn gems for free by watching short ads. 100 gems per ad watched.

The Amazon version is still Kindle only.

Excellent game. No ads during play. Lots of fun. Probably one of my favorites. Right up there with Plants Vs Zombies.

I no longer have any Kindle Fire devices. Is there a way I can get the Kindle only apps to work on my non-Kindle tablet? I used to use ES File Explorer on my old Kindle Fire HD, back-up the .apk and then transfer it to my non-Kindle tablet. Since I don't have that Kindle anymore, is it possible to back up the file via the computer w/ some sort of Kindle emulator. I know they have Bluestacks that emulates Android.

I wanted to get that Kingdom Rush Frontiers that I got for free from Amazon to work. :)

This. It is bugging the hell out of me. Every minute or two a warning will pop up, even though I have it set to unlimited. Last night I was trying to use the search on the Zillow app, and every time the Amazon underground pop-up showed, it reset all of my search terms. I know that is technically an issue with the Zillow app, but it wouldn't be a problem if those popups didn't keep coming.
 
There's a ton of one star reviews for Amazon Underground app, about how it requires too many permissions (like accessing your SMS/contacts) so... I think I'll see how this pans out before becoming too invested.

Also it seems you can't actually "tie" any of the games to your account, so if any game on the list gets removed and you haven't downloaded it yet you're SOL.
 
Also Amazon Underground App requires you to have Amazon App store as well to install some things (I had an app fail to install because I uninstalled the App store). I'm likely not going to do much other than maybe try out some games or such. Also my device isn't very fast but wow does that app poke it on my phone.

 
Yeah there's a lot of high quality games available with the underground app (ex: Duck Tales Remastered), but I don't think I'll be downloading it.

Yeah, I do remember that. I think it was part of the BTA tier though so I skipped it.

It was a FAOTD on Amazon and in case you all missed it, it seems to now work on other Android devices beside Kindles.

Hoping the do the same for Kingdom Rush Frontiers, which was also a FAOTD, but is still Kindle only.

The nice thing about KRO from the HB, it has all the heroes unlocked, so there's no additional IAPs.

 
I ended up uninstalling every Underground free app I had installed. The fact that they track every time you open one of the apps, and for how long, kind of unnerves me. Plus my tablet doesn't need the extra drain on the battery having tracking running in the background might cause. So these apps really aren't free with that kind of intrusion.

Don't buy it, my in-laws bought 2 and they both had batteries that exploded within a month. The battery is like a pouch, it broke the screens and back of the case as it expanded 10 times its original size.
If you buy one, take videos. It looked pretty cool.

So despite it being by all accounts inferior to just the HD modded gog version of Heroes of M&M 3, I went ahead and picked the Android remake up on sale. Controls for traveling are an imprecise pain in the ass and I guess I really do need to play the tutorial because other than killing stuff I have no clue what I am doing. (Another classic I never played).

Seems like it will be enjoyable once I know what I am doing but I really wish it had better movement.

Looks like all of my Plants vs. Zombies 2 data is gone. I was in the middle of playing one of the new 80's map levels, the tablet reboots itself, and now the game acts like I never played it.

Tried deleting and re-installing and nothing is working.

Should have logged in with the Games app or whatever you can, I honestly forget. It keeps your save backed up to the cloud for whatever device you want to play on.

I have had that happen with a couple of different games. Basically if your device does a reboot while the game is running, sometimes even just in the background, say goodbye to any saves. Really sucked with Baldur's Gate and a fifth level character.
 
Do all games support cloud saves through Play Games? I received my replacement Shield tablet, and the will-it-won't-it helium restore won't restore my backup data from my PC. I'd like to get my save back for Guardians of the Galaxy.
 
Honestly I don't know for sure but I don't think so,simply on the basis that not every game requires it so as an optional thing you have to figure there are several that never even bothered to program support in the first place or for pc ports integration may be too difficult. Though I am not sure why if steam saves are supported.

There are apps that can make backups of an entire application. The one most people use is Titanium, it does require root. If you pay for a license you can also integrate automatic cloud uploads to Google Drive and other features. But this might be something to look into if you want to backup game saves, app settings, etc etc to make it easier when you restore a device or upgrade to a new one.

I'm aware of Titanium, but I don't root. Helium has worked for me in the past many times. It just doesn't want to this time for some reason. Although this time I think I only backed up data and not the data and app. Maybe that's why.
 
I installed the Underground App on my replacement Shield Tablet because you can't install the Amazon App Store from Amazon's website anymore. The Underground app was regularly about 2GB is size. I have no idea why. I never installed any Underground games, and I installed fewer FAOTD apps than my previous Shield Tablet (I still can't install certain games from Amazon on my Shield Tablet for some reason). It was ridiculous. I ended up Googling to find the latest version of the App Store from a mirror site, and downloaded it. That works like it used to.

Mobile Humble Bundles are getting weaker and weaker.

Best game in the bunch is Tiny Guardians and that was just on sale on Google Play for $.99.
