Animal Crossing: City Folk - Gen. Discussion and info
Nope! I just keep on playing! It has been proved (I will restate) That the chances of ever getting into a situation are in the .001 or less percentile and the "situations" Are nothing more than not being able to get a couple items. THIS WILL NOT DESTROY YOUR GAME. It is not worth starting over for something that will never be a problem for me. That is all
It turns out, Nintendo will release 50 DLC items a week to make sure they fill the space rapidly. Also, a direct link between hacked DLC, AIDS, world hunger, and people who hate baby Jesus has been proven by science.

:(

[tired of typing it out, hDLC = hacked DLC]

That's exactly what I'm concerned with is not getting a couple legitimate items -- as little chance as there is of that happening -- and not that my game will be destroyed. I know the current hDLC won't destroy the game...I've done my research, but thanks for the reminder. It couldn't have hurt if the hDLC didn't look like ****, though.

Sure, right now the risks are low. Whether it stays that way in the future remains to be seen. I really don't know...but apparently you two do. It comforts me to know that y'all are in possession of crystal balls that can see exactly what the future holds in regards to AC:CF and hDLC. With Filler and georox telling me exactly how things will turn out, there's absolutely nothing for me to worry about.

We can all sleep soundly at night now.
It is not worth starting over for something that will never be a problem for me.
Ha! I just went back and read that again. You, sir or madam, are a class act.

How many items has Nintendo released since AC:CFs release?

How many slots are available?

At an item/week item/month, how long will it take for Nintendo to fill the slots?

Well I AM animal crossing after all ;) . Also, there are technically 256 hex slots for new items but within those there is actually the ability to hold thousands of items, which is why I said there wont be a concern because if they manage to release thousands of items at a rapid rate, you shouldnt worry because theyll probably suck if they can fill that many slots so fast

Hey, thanks for posting the math for others who haven't done the research. If that was for my benefit, though, I'm not sure why you'd waste the time...I already know that! :D

Luckily, no one else will ever figure out how to release AC:CF hDLC because that would be impossible! And worrying about impossibilities is silly! Because they'll never happen! And I really like exclamation points tonight! Do you like exclamation points, georox? Oh damn, that was a question mark! I'm going to PM you some exclamation points right now!!!

Ahem...also, I'm going long on the turnips again this week so let's hope for some good prices. I may look into the whole averaging thing.

EDIT: Ah, Filler replied while I was posting. Yeah...256 slots, thousands of possible item codes, I know all this. Unfortunately (for my schedule, I had other things to do), I spent multiple hours on multiple days researching AC:CF hDLC and how it might affect me...but mainly how it might affect my kids, since they play as much, if not more, than I do. If one person figured out how to do it...then someone else can, too. And those slots can fill up with illegitimate **** pretty quick if things get out of control. Right now, it's not much of an issue, though.

My reasons for disliking hDLC are more ethical right now, however.

EDIT EDIT: Wait, you are Animal Crossing? Sweet! Come on, man, you've got to do something about those Nookington's hours! Not looking forward to that upgrade! [Glad to see some humor in your response, Filler. :)]

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Darn it, y'all've got me in a friendly debate mood now. I'm supposed to be working on server updates tonight. And I can use double contractions like y'all've. I do live in Oklahoma, ya know...

Can I have some Exclamation points too? Also, it was not for your benefit specifically, I just didnt feel like finding anorther quote to work off of

I need to stop editing my posts because I never see what else has been posted in the meantime while I've been editing my posts. So the 'benefit' thing was aimed at georox, Filler, for I didn't see your reply because I was editing my post. And I have to explain this because I missed your next reply because I was editing my post. Did I mention I was editing my post?

EDIT: Felt the urge to edit my post.

EDIT EDIT: Edited.

EDIT^3: OK, heh, I really need to be working right now, I'll catch up with y'all tomorrow.

I'll respond to your !'s with my ^'s! I much prefer ^ over !.

And honestly, avoiding hacked DLC is nearly impossible, as if anyone here gets it and spreads it to another member, all you have to do is touch em :D

Good news is, unless a malicious person gains the ability to create Hacked DLC, it's pretty good.

Don't get me wrong, I'm against malicious use of such information, I just see it as right now it's rather silly to be up in arms against.

So...everyone pretty much agrees on everything.

Oh, come on, what the heck kind of debate is this?! ;)

A couple beers (or more), lots of pretzels, and 4-5 hours of hulu.com...and server updates are done. If only I could telecommute full time.

No, I do not need to see if it is snowing in Treecity right now, I'm going to bed. This is what I am telling myself.

I agree that avoiding the hacked DLC, at this point, is pretty much futile. In fact, I'm pretty sure we all have it now, and a big reason for that, and this is my issue, is Filler. Filler is a person who repeatedly felt the need to tell us how tired he was of the game and how he was going to sell it, and perhaps even his Wii, yet did not do so. He continues to state that he's going to sell the game. Then when he got the hacked DLC, presumably because he had reached "don't care" state and figured, "why not?", and found out that it spread so easily, rather then doing what he'd said he'd do all along, or at least wiping his town and thus avoiding spreading it among CAGs, he instead chose to hold contests with his "most insane prizes ever". And now he's giving away millions of bells. So, yeah, I'm not a big fan.

So, next week I am going to put a sliver axe up for auction. I would be willing to sell it outright though, if the price is right.

I love how you hate me so much but havent actually said anything to me directly XD. Good job making accusations though, not so great on following through. You want to know the truth? I havent even been to anyones town on CAG since the event, Ive been mostly getting bells to distribute among CAG for when I do finally get a seller (left a few ads on CL). I have amassed another 10 million for CAGs needs also. Crunchewy, I think you are what makes this thread so silly at times.

PS. If any of you guys are infected, it was not me, and it isnt really being infected at all.

I agree that I should have discussed this with you offline first. I was absolutely wrong in that.

[Rest deleted. Will take any further discussion offline.]

I finally got Blanca today. I am so dumb. I pressed the wrong button and exited out of the Blanca screen before I was finished. She is now running around my town with two black outline eyes. :bomb:

If you wish that I not delete it, then I will restore it. This is the portion that I deleted. However, I also have PM'd this to you, and that is where I wish to continue any discussion of the topic, as I'm sure everyone else is sick of it:

I am glad to hear that no CAGs took you up on your "cut all my trees down and trash my town", nor your "fishing tournament with most insane prizes ever" events, either of which would have resulted in spreading the hacked DLC. If that's the case, then avoiding the hacked DLC may not be as futile as I imagined. At least not yet.

i'd definitely like that axe. if you put it up on the auction, i'll certainly put in a bid. but if you do it outside the auction house. i'd put in an initial bid of 25,000 bells. but i'd certainly be willing to go up.

do remember how you got serena to give you the axe? i've been failing miserably all winter to get anything out of her.

I got the silver axe the other day. If i can remember correctly, I told Serena that I can tell that she looks different today and i put the slider up when she asked me to judge her.

Just by telling her I threw in a regular axe.

So, is there any more interest in doing a bid on CAG instead of the auction house?

What is the advantage of doing it on CAG versus the auction house? It would seem that doing it in the auction house might keep everything on a level playing field.
What is the advantage of doing it on CAG versus the auction house? It would seem that doing it in the auction house might keep everything on a level playing field.
Auction house will only get me a max bid of 99,999 bells, I believe.
I think my little brother bought the white king last week. I'll see if he did and if he'll mail me one. He's going after the chess pieces too.
Well, I have the white rook, white biship, white queen, black knight, black bishop, and black queen if he needs those..

Let me know....
There are some things you're not allowed to put up for auction in the auction house. Like tools, fruit, paper, or candy.
Ouch, then I guess I will auction it off here.

I finally added two more characters to my town, "Closet" and "Garage", for storage purposes. I figured those were fitting names, and they can give me two extra chances at the axe in the fountain every day, plus a little extra cash if they hit up a money rock or the special events. That will also give me three different characters to try the three different paths with Serena (gold axe, silver axe, plain axe).

I think I am in for a rollercoaster week on turnips. Yesterday I had them at 114 already, which seemed very high for a Monday. Then today they are down to the low 60's this morning and like 53 this afternoon. I'm hoping for a big return this week as I have over 700,000 in bells of turnips and I'm looking to get the lighthouse and help pay off my wife's mortgage yet.

I think it was Kilraven who was helping me with Queenie's house. Here's how it turned out:

Hard to tell in a picture, everything except for the retro stereo moves on its own (that's a reel-to-reel behind the washer). But I need a 2-square item to replace the stereo with. Any ideas?
-

And Walker's house is still awesome. I'm happy with the way he arranged everything here. Walker was not...

Ribbot moved in yesterday. His house came this way

Awesome, I want Ribbot in my town!

I never noticed until now that there's a little alien coming out of the flying saucer. Neat!

How about a Robo TV in place of the retro stereo? I can't really think of any other cool 2-square items right now.

Matt, thank you for the lovely lamp!

Romeo, I got my lovely dresser today. Thanks much!

Eugaet, did you ever get your items? Let me know and I will be happy to resend them if you didn't.

My night playing may be limited this week because my fiancee is on day shift, which means I get to stay up with the baby through the night. Rest assured, I'm still here!

That would work! Thanks :D
Does anyone have an extra robo tv?

I'm wondering if it either takes longer or causes a problem with delivery if I keep the Wii off when someone is not using it...I don't leave it in standby + WiFi mode.

This morning I just received your 21000 bells, so hopefully you will receive your items because I think we sent everything around the same time. If you don't have your stuff by tomorrow, I will resend everything out at no cost again. This time, I will try sending things a little more spread out. I sent everything at the same time, and wonder if that could be the issue?

I haven't played recently, but did play for a few minutes last night in order to forward the robo stuff from Kilraven to you Prof, at the behest (prodding) of Kilraven. Sorry for the hold up on that - that was my fault entirely. Converse - I got the lander. Thanks! I didn't send you the bells for it yet. I didn't play long, and forgot to do it. Sorry about that. I will try to do that tonight, but may not get to do so until tomorrow night. The only other thing I did was to check the turnip price (last night), which was 60 bells. Ouch. I hope I or someone else will be having one of those spike weeks.

I doubt that could be the problem, they let you send 10 letters at a time. I think I sent the 21k bells a little before you sent everything to me...so hopefully it'll show up today or tomorrow.

I'm not too worried about it. I'm too busy catching rare fish in preparation for the Flea Market this weekend.

Turnips were 125 this morning, but I would've had to sell everything but my last two batches (I buy in batches of 50) to break even. Then it dropped to 80. >.

Anyone ever buy stuff from Gracie Grace to resell during the Flea Market?

I've only taken part in one flea market so far, but...how soon does something show up in a neighbor's house after they buy it? And can you buy it back the same day?

I had Gracie stuff in my house last flea market (didn't participate last flea market) & the villagers didn't even touch the stuff, i had a few regular items in the room & they went for that stuff.

Also on the topic of wifi mail it can take forever to get mail at times, I remember sending out xmas gifts on here & some people didn't receive them til almost a month later

Ah, bummer. I was hoping the snow would hang around longer...or at least long enough to get the ground coverage back after instating our 'no running' rule. I was enjoying seeing the snow slowly reappear on the ground day after day. Might have been a little jealous of my friend's town, which is totally blanketed (pretty!). I don't think they play as much as we do, though.

I forgot about the flea market. Thanks for reminding me! I was thinking it was at the end of the month. I've got a couple stringfish to sell. Hopefully there's a snow, or at least rain, before Sunday in somebody's town. Sigh. I wish the snow wasn't going away. I need to hurry up and make another snowman. Hopefully the snowballs I saw last night are still there.

I've got 600 turnip prices today. This will be my first time inviting people over, I don't play to often, so if you want in, be patient with me... I have nothing to do for the rest of the day....
