Animal Crossing: City Folk - Gen. Discussion and info

So basically- let me get this straight- 3 people go to someones town, carrying tons of flowers, hats, etc.

Then we all corner the reindeer and change clothes in front of him over and over until we all have a set of furniture. We could also swap clothes and items to make for even more furniture?
 
Yeah, as I think once we use an accessory for that town's Jingle we can't use it again.

This is starting to sound like an Animal Crossing pyramid scheme, heh.
 
my question is- does he recognize the accessories alone? or does he recognize the pairing of person/accessory? Because if that's the case, we couldn't just swap outfits like i said above. We'd have to hop to a different town.
 
Probably one item per person per encounter. Then we'd have to leave the house and let him teleport to a new location. I doubt it would be per accessory. If it's on a different person it should count as a different outfit.
We can get started as soon as he arrives in my town, which is at 8pm central tomorrow.
 
So, would we only be using one person's accessories? The person whose town it is? Because it'd be a pain to have to go back to your own town just to get more accessories to use.
 
Yea- if everyone has to carry their own clothes to each town, that's going to be an extra trip- one to get the furniture back home, and another one to retrive the clothes they had to leave on the ground.

I think tonight- everyone needs to order all the accessories/flowers they can, and have them ready for guests to use. That way, you can use them, drop them, and leave. That way your pockets can be full of furniture when you leave town. Then when everyone gets to the next town, they will be greeted by a new pile of clothes.
 
I just threw everything onto the ground and counted it. I have:

34 glasses/face things
37 hats
8 helmets
21 umbrellas
These were all ordered from the catalog so there should not be any duplicates.
I also have a couple different hybrids, all of the normal flowers, and a few different patterns (if those work for hats/umbrellas).

It's one item per accessory so that should be enough for everyone who visits, though if you want to bring some of your own things, you can. Would combining a pair of glasses and a hat count as a new outfit if you've already used them to get an item?

And it's understood that we will all share our duplicates so that everyone can have the full set.

Ordering things now? The mail only comes two times per day, so at the most you can get 30 items from your catalog before it starts.

lol- i think i'll just have to do a lot of catelog orders tonight... ignorantly, i've been saving shirts from the store for the past month. Looks like a side-walk sale at the able sisters.
 
Let me know what the final time is on meeting up - I'm working a half day tomorrow and was planning on going to the gym afterward, but should be home before 4 p.m. EST. Also, I'll have to make sure I have whoever's hosting in my friend list.

I know I have Andy, Alison, and Nathan on my list. I will double check for Yukine, KingBrolly, Miranda, and anyone else who wants to come. You'll probably show up at different times. If I collect the entire set and lose interest a couple of hours into it you guys can start taking the accessories to another town :lol:
 
Do things like pinwheels, balloons, and bubble wands count for this??

EDIT: Mail comes more than twice a day. Every time someone visits your town, mail gets delivered. ;)

I have 11 kinds of flower and about 8-20 accessories. I hope I have enough. I was stockpiling shirts until like Sunday. >_> edit: Do umbrellas count too?

I'd be down to do this too.... i have about a little over 30 glasses/hats accessories hopefully its enough. I wonder if we could use 2 at a time hat/glasses combo to fool him?

shouldn't be hard to get all the jingle items cause they're only 12 items in all & I'm sure all of us will have plenty extra to trade

don't forget also not wearing a hat & those viking hats from your patterns will count too
 
How long does it take for grass to grow. I put about 5-6 flowers on this one dirt circle patch and it doesnt seem like its doing anything. Uhhhggg. I put down pattern for all the roads i wish to have.
 
Does anyone know what to do about this Kaitlyn in my town??? She keeps saying she left Katie in Newgrove but Miranda says she's not there.........she's starting to get on my nerves. LOL.

That's the kitten. She says she needs to go to a town.

You talk to her and then she'll follow you. Then you go to your town gates and go to the town she says she needs to go to (in this case, Newgrove).

When you go to Newgrove, the kitten reunites with her mom.

The next day you'll get a present in the mail from the kitten.

Just make her follow you and go to the town in question. It'll work.

The kitten (Katie) is already gone. Angela has the mother (Kaitlyn) in her town looking for a non-existent kitten in my town. I've tried going to her town without Katie a few times now and nothing happens.

Kaitlyn will go away on her own after about three days, I think.
 
Oh. I misread and thought the other way around. My mistake!

If you're looking for the kitten, she sometimes hides behind buildings. I know I've found her twice that way. I usually wonder around and listen for the sound her crying makes, which is sort of a "thud" sound.

Other than that, bleh. There really ought to be a way to reunite them a little more easily.
 
When Katie was in my town before, Booker told me this:

But he's acting like there's nobody here now. I've searched my whole town and used up on the d-pad or the slingshot to look behind trees/buildings and she's not there. :whistle2:(

I know Katie goes away when your gate is open, but my gate hasn't been open since Sunday night's little p-bear party. :p
 
Yeah, I have that glitch too when it comes to finding villagers in the open. Basically I have to go inside then come back out in order for the village to reset itself and try again.

You have that "glitch", too? In this game, they can pretty much teleport into their house, or maybe even around the village, but I don't think so. In the Gamecube one, they had to walk to their house, and they'd always fall asleep outside of it. I miss that! It was funny seeing them sleep outside.
 
I saw them walk into their house and the lights came on once in this game.

This game needs a patch. Badly. And yes, I know, storage on Wii is bad, but still.
 
It's taken some time, but I'm half-way to having a perfect town. Mapping out the acres is kind of frustrating though.

Finally got my bridge built, seems like it took awhile. Luckily I was able to have it built where I was wanting it to be! Donated 500k to get my fountain started.

Crappy turnip prices here as well, decided to TT to the 24th and peek at the prices, down to 55 after 12 PM. Hopefully Thursday-Saturday will be better.

Probably will do some fossil inventory on Sunday to see what I'm missing and what I have to trade.

I'm actually trying to sell some turnips at someone who is on...sigh...gamefaqs. 626 is a good deal I think for what I paid for these turnips. 91 v. 626 x1500 turnips x4 - 360,000+ for entrance = $$$
 
I need to check mine today. Turnips were selling yesterday for 142 bells, but I figured they would get higher. I couldn't check this morning before I went into work because of the retarded 9am-9pm hours. :bomb:

I'll be sure to take a peek over lunch and open up my gates if they're good.
