Animal Crossing Review Scores
How do you get a job reviewing games at Yahoo!?

I would like a job like that. Do I have to work for Yahoo! first
I've been a game journalist for over 6 years now. I've been freelancing for the last 2, and Yahoo's one of the many places I write for.

Cool review style. 9.0
 I liked that review

It seems, from reading the Sunday ads, that Fry's and TRU (of all places) will beat everybody and get the game on Tuesday. Best Buy says they expect the game on Thursday!

Of course, EBgames and Gamestop will probably be Tuesday as well, but I don't hold much hope for those that didn't preorder. If you didnt, Fry's and TRU are the best bet

If Mario Kart and Nintendogs is any indication, check Wal-Marts tomorrow evening.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Walmart. they are usually very good with prompt releases too.

I think my mom must have stolen my Walmart ad from the newspaper

Looks like Nintendo Power will be publish an AC:WW events calendar in the magazine, but what would be great is if someone made a downloadable set of events to plug into Outlook/iCal/other calendar software or a whole OS X Widget. Someone make it so.

I actually kinda dislike these story-form reviews. I didn't read much of the 1up one, but the GameSpot one was the same.. and it leaves me with more questions that could have been easily answered. From the GS review, it doesn't look like you can have four people in the house at the same time, seeing as how whenever one of the editors arrived, his roommates were "asleep", whatever that means. And are you locked into the same house with the same three other people? What happens if you're playing with three people and have a house, and then connect with three other people? New house from scratch? I'm gonna have to wait till some more reviews pop up the next few days before I see if this will be worth it.

Unless of course anyone here can clear these questions up.

I liked the 1up review...maybe I'm just tired of reading straight text everytime for a review.

Man, I can't wait...less than two days...

So, are we adding these friend codes to the stickied list, or starting a new thread?
Saw the strategy guide at Best Buy tonight...looks good!
I'm picking up the guide w/ the game when I pick it up on Friday. The guide had a bunch of cool pics with nintendo designs for clothes, wallpappers, hats, etc.

A new thread would be cleaner.
So, um...did it come out yet?
I've got a narrow window inbetween two shifts at work, but I'm gonna call some WalMarts tomorrow and see. I'll keep you all posted :) (No, I won't be buying 5 copies like I did for Mario Kart :p )

I heard it was released early in Canada and so people are already playing it. Lucky..

From what I have read, up to 4 characters can exist on one AC cartridge, but they each share the same house this time. If you played he GC version, each character (up to 4) had their own house but only one character at a time could play.

Since more than one character can't play at the same time on one DS, the others are "sleeping" when one of the characters is playing.

When you visit another town, you are simply visiting. You don't live there at all. You can interact with that character and their town, but you don't stay there permanently.

Just picked mine up at wal-mart. Looked like they just put them out because the boxes were still there in a cart.

can't wait to boot it up and play.

Finally got to play some multiplayer over wi-fi. Good times, though it lags a bit with three humans in one town. Chat feature works really well.

Well I got it early this morning but didnt get a chance to play it till just now. Here is some random stuff as I was starting it that I wrote down in word till I got ready to post. Sorry if its a bit out of sorts but IMO I got sucked in fast and so far I am liking it very much.

Ok well first I am loving all these awesome DS games. I beat Castlevania on Fri and loved it. I got Mario and Luigi:pT this week too and its awesome.

Back on topic its nice to use the touch screen more than a very little bit like with these other games.
Game has very good graphics. IMO on par with AC GC. Good sound and I am happy with BREVITY's little town of Ville.
Y is the map, X is menu or you can tap the up arrow. Once in map your character screen goes up top and the touch screen becomes the menu screen.

Sorry if this is in coherent but I am playing for the first time atm and trying to think of stuff to mention as well.

Well I don’t think they have turned the wifi network on yet.

You cant type swear words. There goes f@ck s4!t dam town.

Surprised you seem to be able to control the whole game with the touch screen. Its loads of fun. I love the time thing: I mean how its like all other AC’s in that it keeps up with the time. I never played more than 3 or 4 hours of AC GC due to other awesome games out at that time.

I so wish you could get games in this version like you could in the GC version.

Well I am going to stop and play some more for now. I will write again later.

Adding to this: My little dude has parkinson’s or something; he cant keep his dam head still.

Also there is a download thing in your house I hope its so we can get content later. I wish you could play your MP3s in this game. That would make your little radio in your house so rock.

I know how you feel. I'm getting this game right when I come home from finals and possibly Mario and Luigi PiT, and then Jump Superstars should be arriving in the mail soon too. Within 6 months, I will have obtained 13 DS games... X_X

I feel like I'm buying every DS game that comes out... they're just all so good. I never intended to get Trauma Center, Phoenix Wright, Metroid Prime Pinball, or Animal Crossing. Castlevania and Mario Kart, that's what I wanted. But here I am... having more fun with the DS than perhaps any system before.

what is the save system with AC:WW? Do you just have multiple save files that are in different worlds or just one save?

You have multiple "characters" that live in the same house/town.

If you have 4 people in one house, doesn't that kinda limit the creativity you can have in your house? It'd be better if everyone had their own house I think... but, I can't wait to play it!
EB just got their shipment in so I will be picking it up around noon. I can't wait! I'll post my friend code soon.
I just realized I might get lucky... even though we all know how GR sucks with getting games in on time, the game I preordered was Mario Strikers, which also had a ship date of yesterday. So by the time they get that in, they might have AC. So even if its not till next week, at least its only one trip out there :p And hooray for $200 in GR credit ;)

Haha, I think you cheated making that statement... the EB list of upcoming games shows only Guilty Gear released between now and the end of the December

fucking Target didn't get it and they don't know when.

EB had 20, or so they said, but I can't get there.

Damnit.

Picked mine up at BB today. Never played the first game, but after reading all about this one I decided to try this one out, seems like the kind of game I'd enjoy. For those familiar with AC, does it take a while to get used to the game? I finished the jobs that Tom Nook has you do right off the bat, and now I'm kinda just wandering around going fishing and picking peaches off of trees to sell for bells.

i got mine coming from gamefly Come Friday..... I cant see spending 25 or 35 bucks on this game when i couldnt stand the first one>....

then why even bother renting it?

Best Buy had it in today, but it was almost sold out it seems, employee told me it sold reeeeeeally fast. Only two copies left when I got mine.

That coupon is pretty popular, it seems.

Just bought mine from my GS. Was going to wait till Friday (25% Employees) but just could resist. Plus I had it on pre-order so some money was already saved.

Post my friend code soon.

This guy never fails to amuse me. He buys/rents everything, yet most of his posts are complaining about stuff -- Mario/Luigi 2, GamesQuest Direct, now the first Animal Crossing.

Slidey, ol' boy, there are always going to be games that others like or even love that you're not going to dig. Hell, I personally won't touch Call of Duty 2 because it's another damn WWII FPS, no matter how many 9+ scores it gets. Just because a game gets a good score doesn't mean you should personally play it -- especially if you hate the genre or predecessor.

If you got credit burning a hole in your pocket (as you've posted about before), why not use it to buy gifts for friends? I've hooked up a lot of people when there was nothing I wanted -- or even when there was. Or you could buy a console and donate it to Toys for Tots. I doubt you're old enough to do taxes, but it's even a write-off.

Ever since I found out recently that the NES games are out, I have lost almost all interest in this game. The NES games in the GCN version served as the ultimate incentive to play a little bit every day, but I found everything else to be a little repetitive.

And I'm into emulation, so its not like this was the only way I could play said NES games, but still, it was my motivation throughout.

I'm going to spend this money on Kirby: Canvas Curse and Mario and Luigi 2...just seem like better bets for someone who milked the GCN version for a long time.

Got mine at Gamecrazy after work today. Looked like they had at least a dozen more.
Having fun so far. Finished my part-time job, and own a shovel and fishing pole.

Anyone know if a guide is coming out for this?

Got my guide for half off when I bought the game. The person working in media took forever to track down a copy of the game (it was still in a box in the back) so he offered me the guide for half off since I waited for so long. I couldn't turn down the offer, especially since I was using a $10 off coupon at BB. Getting the game + guide for $35.05 after tax isn't a bad deal if you ask me.
