Even so, it looks like you watch AT LEAST 2 hours a day. There's gotta be something else you could be doing, it's unhealthy. And this is coming from the guy plays more games than you could imagine.

On the bright side, it looks like my 3-month sub to Crunchyroll could pay off if Erin is good.

Anyway, now it's back to more anime pseudo-reviews! I watched two Ghibli movies today. They are Ocean Waves and Only Yesterday. I got the imports from Japan for Christmas, since these two movies haven't been released in North America yet—and they probably won't be released here, which is a damn shame because both of these movies are great.

Ocean Waves is a high school drama and romance. The show excels with its characters. There are three main characters—although, one them doesn't get as much screen time as the others—and they were a joy to watch. I guess my only problem with the movie is that it is too short. The movie basically ends at the climax. It would of been nice if there was an hour more or something.

I really enjoyed Only Yesterday. The more I think about it the more I think it is becoming one of my favorite Ghibli movies. The movie really excels at its maturity and subtlety. It's about this office working woman who takes a vacation to the countryside. During her journey she reminisces about her life during fifth grade, and these memories make her question her current direction in life.

I loved the characters in Only Yesterday. One amazing thing that I noticed is that there was extreme care in drawing people's facial expressions. There were some scenes that have no dialogue, but you can see the character's facial expression, and since they are drawn so realistically, I was able to figure out exactly what the character was thinking. The reason for this is because all of the present day dialogue was recorded before those parts of the movie were animated. I think that it shows quite a difference; it makes the characters seem a lot more realistic.

Oh, and I loved the ending. It was perfect. There was a point during the ending where something was about to happen, and I called it, and then it happened. I don't consider that the movie was predictable, but I was able to call it out because I had grown to know this character throughout the whole movie, and this is what she would do. Also, the way the ending is presented is just wonderful. It's really heartwarming.

I just remembered something! There are some traditional Hungarian songs used in the movie, which are amazing, and they totally fit the movie.

Thats a pretty redundent comment considering you mention something that takes up even more effort than anime. With video games, you usually have to use your hands or some other appendages to get through it, and it requires a lot more attention. When i'm at work for 40-70 hours a week, i'm more than able to watch videos (anime, tv shows, movies, etc), without it distracting from my work. I dont think the same could be said if I were playing video games.

It looks like quite a few series have just ended their seasons. Can anyone recommend either Eve No Jikan or Umineko No Naku Koro Ni? Umineko looks somewhat crazy like Higurashi, but I hated how Higurashi had all the restarts where everyone was alive again.

I haven't watched Umineko yet, but Eve no Jikan is totally worth your time.
 
decided to catch up on bleach again. get about 6 eps in, filler starts. gah!!!!

decided to catch up on shippuden instead.
 
is that irony? last i recall (and obviously this was a LONG time ago) Naruto was jam packed with filler. is shippuden different in that respect?

oh how sad it is I remember when everyone was praising Bleach for it's lack of filler. Almost made me start watching.

The filler in Bleach is HORRIBLE. Whoever told you otherwise is a dirty liar.

Then again, most of Bleach is pretty bad... but especially the filler.
 
that's true. Bleach filler is less-bad since it actually tries to do arcs rather than "let's learn to drive" or something. Still it's not worth my valuable time. After I hit Shippuden filler then it's on to One Piece since I already caught up on Reborn.
 
To it's credit the Naruto filler never added new anime specific characters like the Mod Souls from Bleach... those things ruined what should have been one of my favorite parts of the anime.

Gurren Lagaan defintely fits that. But I'm not so sure about RahXephon... there is one girl with ridiculous boobs but you only see her in a few eps. The only other shows I can think of offthe top of my head are Gundam 00 Season 1 and Code Geass. ridiculous boobs. May I ask why you're asking?

Just looking for new anime to watch, and ones with insane mecha and heinously animated funbags tend to be my favorites. Stuff like Godannar, Gravion/Gravion Zwei, Mazinkaizer, etc.
 
I still need to check out Godannar and Gravion one day... Anyway as I said the first Season of Gundam 00 has super robots and lost of girls with oversized boobs. Sadly they toned them down for S2... but I wouldn't recommend that even if they didn't.
 
I felt that Godannar and Gravion were both pretty generic. Luckily I was able to see them for free, but I wouldn't recommend someone actually spend money on either series. Although if all you're looking for are big boobies and robots then they should both fit the bill quite nicely.

How can you possibly watch anime at work....

Also, Eve No Jikan is decent, but i felt it was overrated. It's very short though, so you might as well give it a try.

Just kidding, haha, you can have your own opinion too XD. I love Time of Eve (Eve No Jikan) though. One of my favorites; nothing else really like it. I'm not really sure why I like it so much; I just do. Well, I guess I could go into detail on why if I wanted to, but I'd rather not (screw analyzing anime--it's supposed to be for fun!), and let's be honest, it doesn't really matter what I think. I like it probably about as much as the Azumanga-obsessed people like Azumanga, and probably for the same sort of reasons (more of a "feeling" type thing), although the two shows themselves couldn't be more different. It's not going to blow you away or anything, but it has its own different sort of appeal. Just watch it and see for yourself.

Also, EuREKA (the series about the town full of geniuses, not air-surfing mecha) is my favorite non-anime show ever. Been catching up on Season 3 lately. Funny coincidence how two of my favorite shows both have the word "Eureka" in them, haha. :p

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood has been fantastic. Kimi ni Todoke is also great, from what I've seen thus far... though there's far less action in that.

I am done watching Stellvia. I thought it was good. The first four episodes and the last four episodes are probably the best, and the episodes in between are only good instead of great. Stellvia is along side Vandread as one of the better space faring anime that I have seen. Glass Fleet and Moonlight Mile don't even come close to the quality of Stellvia and Vandread.

The thing that caught my attention right off the start is that Stellvia looks fantastic. I really like the exaggerated/cute art style; I just love how their eyes look! Also, Stellvia actually does a fantastic job with its CG. The CG has a cel-shaded look, so it meshes quite nicely with the 2D animation. Vandread, on the other hand, had some ugly CG, which seems right on par with how Gonzo treats its CG.

There were some things that I absolutely despised though. I hated Kouta Otoyama. I thought he acted too perfect, he was an idiot, and I thought he was too selfish and ungrateful at times. Since I hated him, I really hated how he had a romantic relationship with one of the main characters. Their romance didn't feel genuine at all. Thankfully, their romance doesn't have that much screen time. The focus of the show is outer space, and how humans deal with it.

Oh, and I want to steal something from ANN's review that I agree with. Their reviewer complemented Stellvia on its use of teamwork when it came to solving problems. Yes, some of the main characters played pivotal roles, but everyone banded together to overcome humanity's troubles. It's quite refreshing to see humanity united for a common cause and for their ambitions to be genuine.
 
I finally got around to watching the rest of Sasameki Koto. I watched the first episode when it debuted, but I put it off until now because I was watching other things. Since the last episode aired this past Wednesday, I thought now would be a good time to watch the rest of it.

I thought it was good, but quite strange. The show has two distinct faces that aren't blended together. Sometimes the show is completely hyperbolic and hilarious, and then there are other times when it is serious and dramatic—and some of these dramatic moments are actually insightful, touching, or depressing. The ridiculous and funny part of the show is fun, and I enjoy the mature dramatic moments as well, but when they are presented in this black and white manner, it gets quite perplexing.

I thought the character development was interesting. Some of the characters definitely evolved into people that I was not expecting. The show is definitely surprising when it comes to this character progression, albeit that does not mean that they become better people. One of the characters who seemed caring, intelligent, and docile, eventually becomes this obnoxious and selfish lover. Another character that took me by surprise was a calm and clever idiot at first, but eventually I noticed that she is actually the most mature and intelligent woman of the cast.

There was something that I absolutely adored though. I loved the music in this series. The opening song perfectly evokes a feeling of bittersweet melancholy; the background music has some upbeat tones that I enjoyed, but it was also perfect at evoking somber moods; finally, there is the ending song which has a fun and lighthearted feel to it. It was a fantastic soundtrack.

Overall, I enjoyed it, but its bipolar nature was off-putting at times.

I finally went back to Kanon, and i'm almost done. It has many different story arcs, one for each girl (five total), and each one seems to be very different. Some are a little too romance/cute for me, while others manage to get the comedy/romace perfectly, and one of them even adds a little action to the puzzle, mixing things up, and making it my personal favorite of the bunch

Yeah, Kanon is pretty damn amazing. Oh, and the opening song, Last Regrets, isn't sung by the same singer from the theme songs of Air. Lia sings the theme songs of Air—and Clannad ~After Story~ as well—while Ayana sings the theme songs of Kanon.

I don't know what your opinon of Kanon's ending song is, but the 2006 Memorial Mix version of it is awesome—I love the guitar solo near the end.

I didn't think it was strange. I loved it because I was able to empathize with Sato. Also, the show was hilarious, so I was laughing all the time.
 
Powered through Midori Days today. It was a hell of a lot better than I thought it would be, as this was a blind buy. I thought it was kind of a weird and dumb premise from the stuff I read online about it, but I was completely wrong. It managed to get a good mix of comedy, perviness, and romance. Definitely worth a watch.

This was my reaction when I watched it, too. Way better than I thought it'd be, and quite enjoyable despite its relative vapidness.
 
I finished Golden Boy earlier this evening. It was extraordinary! Golden Boy has overthrown Fumoffu as the funniest anime that I have seen; it's even one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I bought this because of some faint praise in the Media Blasters sale thread, but I had no idea it would be this awesome.

Golden Boy is incredibly sexual and incredibly hilarious. The sexuality is sensual, hilarious, or both. Besides the perverted humor, there are also a lot of ridiculous events that happen throughout the show. There were points where I was laughing so hard that I couldn't breathe. Also, the show is strangely educational and inspirational, and I really enjoyed Kintaro's "student of life" lifestyle.

The English dub is fantastic. The English voice actor for Kintaro, Doug Smith, perfectly captures Kintaro's character, and his voice and mannerisms sound quite natural. The other voice actors do a great job, but Kintaro's voice actor shines above the rest of the cast.

I loved it; I had a smile on my face the whole time I was watching it, and I was a bit sad to see it end. So, everyone should watch Golden Boy.
 
Golden Boy is good. It's one of those manga that I always wish would be released in the US. Along with Ushio and Tora and Haunted Junction.
 
Watched Golden Boy today. It was a good show, although the main character can be pretty annoying at times. Especially when:
he does stuff like get on his knees and begs women for forgiveness.
It really irked me when he did it, and the dub actor did a wonderful job of making those parts that much more annoying.

Hmm, that's a shame. I loved Kintaro's antics, and I thought those begging scenes were hilarious. He makes some of the best (funniest) facial expressions that I have seen. Haha, I loved the part where
he is telling Madame President the importance of his notebook. Madame President sees Kintaro's notes on her, and Kintaro says, "Ah, shit!" I was dying from laughter.

I kinda of like the manga but could never get into the anime.
 
Claymore is awesome. I really enjoyed it.

So I have to say Shippuden has really sucked me back in. They have revealed a lot of characters backstories and seem to be escalating towards some major conflicts. I didn't think I'd enjoy Naruto this much ever again and yet I find myself having a great time with it. I wonder how long before I hit a filler wall...
 
This is quite possibly the best anime description ever, for the new show "Chuu Bra!!":

Hayama Nayu is a newly enrolled junior high school girl, who has a strong principle in the way of wearing underwear. She is able to see if women around her are wearing fitting underclothes and cannot help pointing out their mistakes. In order to educate the students about the proper knowledge of underwear, she decides to set up the "Underwear Club."

I think Japan finally out-Japan'd itself. And this sounds right up Razzuel's alley, too, so I'm looking forward to reading his favorable impressions of the series soon.
