Pretty much everything on my list has been bought on clearance. Examples include Devil Lady boxset for $9.99, Excel Saga Imperfect Collection for $14.99 from bestbuy ADV clearance a few years back, and so on. One of my recent favorites was last 6 dvds of Utena for $2.99 a piece and those were bought during the Buy one Get 4 free dvd clearance at gamestop. So i paid $4 for 6 dvds of Utena which were/are selling at $20/30 a pop. It's a matter of luck though. I got lucky and snagged a Tenchi OVA for $12 which is never leaving my collection when it normally sells for $100+. Just have to keep your eyes open and hope you get lucky.

For the stuff I didn't get on clearance I snag at sales like DD sale.
Figured I'd make a consolidated thread for people to post links, pictures, etc of their anime collection. I personally suggest using www.dvdaf.com for dvd lists but anything is fine. I'll go first.

You have all of Cardcaptor Sakura too? Good man.

I'll try to list every thing or take pictures at some point, but most of my collection is still at my parents' house.

brian9824....have you actually managed to watched all 359 titles who own, half??? I would like to see pics though, not that I doubt you own all these, just really like to see them all displayed

I made this list a couple weeks ago for the anime convention in Wisconsin that I work for, in case they needed to use any of my stuff for the anime rooms next year. Keep in mind that this is a work in progress, as everything on this list is merely what I had on the shelves in front of me at the time, and doesn't include any of the stuff I have stored away in boxes. My *full* collection is at least three times this amount, maybe four or even five.

I have:
Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum
Gungrave LE Collection
Witch Hunter Robin Complete Collection

Afro Samurai

And being shipped as we speak:
RahXephon Complete Collection

I also have Jin Roh, Ghost in the Shell, and Vampire Hunter D

dsc00360xd2.png

I'll sort it out one day. I don't have a list of what I actually have.

I've watched most of them. Some are still in a backlog. I actually have 95% of my anime on a single large shelf which is completely filled so I can try to take a picture and post it tonight.

Also B:L beats me.

Dang. I'm gonna start only buying what I plan to watch multiple times because I don't think I can afford to have a collection as big as you guys, heh. Does everyone here get the majority of their anime from Rightstuf or what?

In order of frequency for me...

For anime...

Rightstuf.com
Best Buy B&M
Overstock.com
Ebay/Amazon Marketplace

For Manga...

Waldenbooks B&M
Barnes and Noble B&M
Rightstuf.com
Books-A-Million B&M

I primarily get my stuff from Rightstuf during their sales. On the occasions that Best Buy brick and mortar stores have a sale, I get stuff there. The main reason I have what I have now is due to Rightstuf though. Those liquidation sales the last couple of years were epic.

Waldenbooks got the majority of my manga buys until they shut down my local store.

I really only order from rightstuf during sales or get their bargain bin items. I get lots off stuff of a few dvd trading sites, ugtz, amazon, etc. Ebay is my last resort just because i hate dealing with them.

As guile has said though my collection has grown thanks to rightstuf's nice sales lately.

Also don't forget the biyearly DD sale for boxsets.

I started keeping a list in Excel a while ago, just to keep track of the holes I needed to fill in the ol' collection. Here we go!

I blame over a decade worth of purchases, countless sales on the internet and from fellow college students, and Right Stuf. Definitely Right Stuf.

You all should really look into using dvdaf for listing. Its nice because you can link people easily, search on it, and it even shows you prices of your stuff so you know when stuff is rare.

Plus its free :)

This is my slightly updated anime collection, i know its not much compared to other people but its a start

Methinks he beats all of us.

Anyway, my shelves:

Part of my videogames in this shot too...

Each of these pullouts holds about 60 discs, give or take.
SANY0032.jpg

I have a few more tapes than this, but they're either recorded from TV for waiting for a DVD replacment, so I didn't take pics of 'em.
SANY0116.jpg

Just for fun, my Yoh. He's about 4 feet tall. :D
SANY0036.jpg

If you want title specifics, see my sig for a link to my ANN collection. Dunno where I sit title-wise, but I'm getting close to 1000 discs total.

Is that all anime? I see a bunch of Playstation or PSP games at the top right. It's hard to make out most stuff in that pic.

Naw, mine's still worse... Once I'm finished moving, I'll try my best to unpack and photograph everything.

My anime collection:

AnimeCollectionCirca1997.jpg

Sorry for the poor quality, but I had to dig this picture out. Keep in mind this is circa 1996-97. I don't think I own a single one of those now (that is solid, right up to the wall). At one point I had over 500 tapes. And that's me in the bottom photo on the right. Again, this is, what, 11 or 12 years ago?

My current collection isn't nearly as robust and consists of:

Azumanga Daioh
Castle in the Sky
Cowboy Bebop Remix
Fullmetal Alchemist
Giant Robo
Gunsmith Cats
His and Her Circumstances

I noticed that Brian and GuilewasNK have Tsukihime and Najica + Weather Report Girl (what can I say, it looks odd enough to pirque my interest), respectively. Comments on these, guys?

Man these threads give me mixed feelings. I sold about 95% of my anime collection between 2 and 1 year ago. Of the 700+ dvd's I had I kept only a bunch of movies, some OVAs, and most of my region 2 and region 3 dvds.

Some of the things I kept were favorites of mine - slayers, dragon half, gunsmith cats, jin-roh, akira tin, lain lunchbox, tenchi muyo ovas, tenchi movie, berserk box of war, etc.

I came to a point where I just decided I couldn't keep buying that many DVDs, watch them once, and put them on a shelf - usually operating like a library loaning them out.
I can only have one hobby where I use it for a while and put it on a shelf forever - video games.

You guys have some awesome collections though. I was wondering if you some of your big collectors are going to start replacing your DVDs with Blu-Rays now?

Also - I was wondering if the anime industry seems to be getting smaller? I see a lot less merchandise, DVDs, etc. for sale at palces like Best Buy, FYE, etc. I don't follow it to closely anymore. I was amazed last week when I tried to go to animeondvd.com last week and found out that it was now part of some other network.

Also one last comment. I'm still amazed that the Boy Who Saw the Wind never came to the US.

I've got a modest little collection:

Afro Samurai
Black Lagoon, Season one, Volume One, Steelbook
Black Lagoon, Season one, Volume Two
Black Lagoon, Season one, Volume Three
Claymore, Volume One, Boxset
Claymore, Volume Two
Claymore, Volume Three
Claymore, Volume Four
Devil May Cry, Volume One, Boxset
Devil May Cry, Volume Two
Ergo Proxy, Volume One
Ergo Proxy, Volume Two
Ergo Proxy, Volume Three
Ergo Proxy, Volume Four
Ergo Proxy, Volume Five
Ergo Proxy, Volume Six
FLCL Boxset
Ghost in the Shell
Karas: The Prophecy
Karas: The Revelation

I still need to get the new Afro Samurai, volumes four and five of Claymore and volume three of DMC to complete what I have. This, of course, is my tangible collection. I have much more on my HDD.

This, of course, is my tangible collection. I have much more on my HDD.

I could say the same thing, heh. Fansubs FTW. I've only recently started actually buying anime that I like/want to support. Plus, having a physical collection is kinda nice.

I really want to have a nice anime collection, but I can't see spending $30 for 3-4 episodes of an anime. So I will post my weaksauce collection and yes feel free to laugh at me.

Gurren Lagann Vol 1 and 2
Hellsing vol 1 and 2 (original series, got them both for $18)
Princess Mononoke
Howl's Moving Castle

Tsukihime is a great little series - its alot slower paced then you'd expect and more of a drama. Najica i've seen parts of years ago and never got into it, the words panty shots come to mind though...

As for Weather Report Girl never seen it.

I'll try to post pictures of my anime tonight. I have 95% of it in a single bookcase but its recently started to spill over and thats not counting manga.

I reached the exact same conclusion after awhile, I was almost to 800 dvds with the majority being anime when I just stared at everything one day. In my head i'm going how many of these will I ever watch again , the number was a hell of a lot lower then 800. Dumped a lot of series right then and there, I still have a sizable collection but I feel better about the quality of it. This thread has reminded me though I don't even have dvd profiler installed on my computer right now

I don't have Tsukihime, I have Tsukikage Ran though, you might have mixed it up with that.

Weather Report Girl is meh IMO. It's like a cheap after-hours Cinemax movie. Largely forgettable. Najica is a guilty pleasure of mine though. I LOVE the music, especially the intro theme. Be warned that there is fanservice galore in the way of panty shots. Any opportunity to show panties is used. It's absurd, but I enjoyed the characters and story as well.

@DuelLadyS

I really like yours, it's very neat, and you got nice shelves too :)

Also, damn you, you have the entire FMA set and the three tins :bomb:

@Thelonepig- I have a sudden urge to take out all my DVDs and bulid something like that now. That's an awesome pile. :D

I'm both excited and fearful to see what that looks like.

Oh, it's more than that- I have 5 promo Funi art cards stuffed into the appropriate tins, plus several of the booklets are autographed. So far I've got Vic Mignogna (Ed), Aaron Dismuke (Al), Travis Willingham (Roy), Colleen Clinkenbeard (Riza), Caitlin Glass (Winry), Wendy Powell (Envy), and Lean Clark (Noah) on the LE movie set.

I'm hoping to get all the booklets signed someday.

The shelves themselves are Ikea Besta and Journalist shelving. Journalist is discontinued now, Besta is nice becuase it's totally adjustable shelving (no center shelf that has to be right in the middle), so there's no wasted space. The depth is just right for 1 vertical and 1 horizontal row of DVDs, so you can double-up and still see what's in the back.
I need shelves so badly.
Yes. Yes you do.

Haha. I see a lot of people have Scrapped Princess, although I haven't heard much about it. Is it really good or something?

(BTW, someone mentioned in the RightStuf thread that Target sells some decent shelves for $20 if you're interested.)

I kinda meant that Brian had Tsukihime, and you had the other two. I just worded it weird... It was late at night, and I was hungry!!! :whistle2:# But yeah, thanks from the comments from you two.

Anyway, I'll probably post my collection a little later or tomorrow, since I haven't updated my ANN collection in forever. Maybe I'll just take pictures... so much easier...
Scrapped Princess is excellent.
I'm blocked from entertainment sites at work or I'd check it myself .. but what it's it about?

Basically this princess is born, and there's a prophecy that says she'll bring destroy the world on her 16th birthday. So the king orders her killed when she's a baby. Instead of dying she's found by a family who raises her. The show begins a few months before her 16th birthday as her step-siblings try to protect her from assassins and other dangers.

There's a major plot twist about halfway through the show that really makes it good.
