 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

Is it worth upgrading to the blu ray version of amagami SS?
I never owned the dvd version, and i only have this one bc i won it at the sentai panel lol, But i have watched a bit of it and it's super detailed as to be expected. So other than higher def it should be the same as the dvds.

What con did you go to, Froz? I was bummed Sentai skipped out on Otakon this year. They always had their panel right when the con opened on Fridays and never understood why (I and probably most of the con was stuck in the infamous pre-reg line of course so I always missed out).

Oni-Con in Galveston

-- I always pre-reg a few months in advance to prevent this lol.

Did you win free anime for a year? I went to the Sentai panel at Anime Expo and I was so jealous when they gave a years worth of every anime they publish lol.
Yea i got the blu ray of amagami ss (a pic of it a few pages back) They gave out a few bags and im assuming each was different. Years worth? thats crazy sick

Otakon defies all logic most times. They seem to screw up pre-reg every single year then it somehow ends up being longer than the normal registration line. This year I helped with a friend's artist alley table so I got in faster and it's of course the year that Sentai doesn't go to Otakon. This is my life in a nutshell, lol.

This makes me regret passing up industry panels at every con I attended. :wall:
I started passing the ones that don't give out free things. Like I said, never been to a Sentai one but Viz typically gives something out. I've gotten posters, a neon alley bag, wristbands, etc. from them. Otakon 2011 they had two weirdos run the panel where they literally threw Naruto games and Viz anime at people for answering questions... incorrectly.

Aniplex of America typically has something but they typically keep all of their goods at their booth. I think last year at Otakon they had a Kuro (Blue Exorcist) face mask and some prizes for people that asked questions.

Funimation never has anything. I think this year all they "gave" us was a 10% off Elite coupon code. Whoop-dee-doo.

I had Genshiken in my cart and was ready to check out, when I realized it was an NISA set. So, I'll be waiting to see if the preorder bonus is any good.

...

Who am I kidding? I'll order it from them if they have any preorder bonus.

First class package shipped on Monday of last week. Estimated delivery day of Friday. Never came. No shipping updates since Monday as well. USPS started a case in order to find the package. Very odd for first class mail to take this long and only be a state away. More so everything else I've ordered has got here. Gundam 08th MS Team Vol 4. You will be mine someday.

This Best Buy sale raped my wallet. I just caved and grabbed Bayonetta, Akira, and Devil is a Part Timer. Already watched Bayonetta, and that was really 'meh'. I've been trying to write reviews for any game or anime I finish, but I just can't really find the motivation to for that one. The fighting is flashy, the story has never been great in those games, voice acting is cheesy, and the pacing is too slow. That's that in a nutshell.

I was thinking about getting bayonetta but after watching some clips it just came off as mediocre. Voice acting meh. Nice visuals and drawn out fight scenes but it just didn't scream amazing at me. The games are mediocre at best but still really fun. I thought because I liked Bayonetta so much on the 360 I'd like the anime. Not the case. Glad I didn't dip. If it is dirt cheap on RightStuf for Black Friday then maybe I'll pick it up out of pure impulse like many of the things i pick up

I would say that if you decide that it is, then you should not get it at Amazon and order it from Right Stuf instead. If $7.10 seems like enough of a discount to change your mind about buying a $60 set (about 12% off), then you were probably just looking for any excuse to justify ordering one. If that's the case, then you may as well get the two set bundle for $56.49 each. I've been on both sides of this decision multiple times. :)

This of course, assumes all other things are equal such as shipping issues, tax, etc.

The dub sounds pretty good(when Sentai cares enough they do a good job). I gotta say the animation looks pretty lackluster though. Not going to stop me from checking it out when it's on sale.

I like Bayonetta, but having Gonzo attached to the movie makes it hard for me to even give it a chance. A studio like Madhouse would've been perfect for it.

Has Gonzo dipped in quality in recent years? They used to produce some great anime like Basilisk and Samurai 7. Madhouse on the other hand, with those terrible Marvel anime movies...eeeh. Iron Man: Rise of the Technovore was an atrocity, in terms of both visual and narrative departments.

Madhouse is great when their not doing shitty LN adaptions(as seen recently with Parasyte). I personally think most of the stuff Gonzo has put out has been schlock(Gankutsuou and NHK are exceptions).

Gonzo ranked pretty high with me animation-wise, but their stories usually fall short. Still a relatively solid company. They brought us Saikano, Full Metal Panic, Last Exile, Blue Sub 6, Saki... Ok, their newer stuff is even more lacking.

I agree that their animation was pretty good; though they got pretty damn lazy at points(in NHK the characters hilariously go off-model a lot after the first few episodes which hurts  the show a bit for me). The CGI they used in general was also extremely, and would rarely meshed well with the animation.

where from?
someone on ebay has it for 29.99 plus shipping. however, the same dude had the second to last issue for that price and now someone is selling it for 6+shipping on ebay. amazon has a few sellers as well but not at the current moment. i expect more listings when it releases.

nice i need to get one

Half way done with The Devil is a Part-Timer, its actually very good. Watching it on netflix because 40 bucks is a little steep for 13 episodes but it is certainly quality stuff so far

We can only hope for a second season that will never come. But at least Light Novels that are coming out will fix it for those who are curious about what happens after Season 1.
