 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

Ordered Cardcaptor Sakura Blu-ray and got it in today. Now I have to decide if the improved picture quality is worth "Li Xiaolang."

Well, I have had the Geneon DVDs and they (and the various manga that use the character and/or name) use "Syaoran." It's kind of like if Viz acquired DBZ and used "Sun Wukong" instead of "Son Goku" in the subs.

Me too. I'm not even going to remove it from the wrap. Going to frame it alongside Shippuden 1 and an overall poster underneath. How are you going to go about framing it? Are you going to gut it or put the entire issue in there?
I was thinking about that and I'm not sure. Frankly, I'll probably decide when I actually have the issue in my hands. So not for a couple weeks lol

I found a copy of Naruto set 9 on second spin for very cheap and its the special edition with the figurine. What are the odds it comes with everything and the figurine?

Anyone know if you order the Time of Eve deluxe edition at the TimeofEve Shop, would you need to pay for shipping, if you select paypal? I really don't want to pay $9 for shipping from the shop checkout and when I was checking out the paypal method with a debit card (no account), it never showed any shipping info and only a total of 59.99 until I got up to screen about payment method. So just wondering... Otherwise I'm gonna try to find the paypal link for the backers since it's like $5 shipping.

You're not going to get free shipping. They add on the shipping charge at the actual checkout.

There are 3 Studio Ghibili movies coming out on the 18th.  I can't believe there hasn't been any ads for a deal.

Studio Ghibli movies going on sale is a rarity let alone their blu rays. Going to pick up The Wind Rises Day 1. Such a great movie and quite the tearjerker at the end. If this was indeed Miyazaki's last movie. It was well worth it

The best place to get Ghibli Blu-rays is the Disney Movie Club. Many of the older ones are enrollment titles and the newer ones can be had for 60% if you are a VIPS member.

Well just finished my Naruto collection. I now have Box Sets 1-10 which is episodes 1-135 which is the entire main series before any and all filler hits. After Box Set 10 it becomes nothing but filler for the most part until the last episode which I will still watch. Time to go to Bestbuy and get my movie 3 pack with the 5 dollar coupon they emailed everyone and the additional 10% off movers coupon.

Sadly I'll be taking a break before collecting Shippuden. The anime is not nearly finished running in English and there are 22 box sets at about 15-25 a piece. God only knows there will be a collection of some sorts at some point after such success of the Pokemon collection and One Piece box set collections

Well, the main series does have filler, but it doesn't last long.

And technically there are some minor canon bits that were removed from the final few episodes of Set 10 and placed in the filler episodes, but it's nothing too major.

So should I collect the rest or just watch those episodes. The filler in the main series doesn't last really long and is okay. But I heard the filler after is basically unbearable

Sets 11 and 16 are worth a rental, but not essential.
I'll give them a gander certainly not a purchase. I would be willing to have collected these if I went the new school route with the dvd sets but I'm a collector by heart and the box sets with the storyboard booklet is the true route to go. They look amazing.

After the sound ninja fight all the canon is splashed throughout the rest of the show. Just depends If u want to own it. I mean at what point does filler become canon lol.
When the canon is filler lol. Here's a major battle oh lets take this next episode to look at what else is going on and in the last 5 minutes return to the major battle for some more talking. Wait, one more ace up my sleeve.

http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=350747 here is a link with how to watch naruto without filler. Basically everything I'm doing right now. Stop after 135 and pick up 220's last 5 minutes or so. I barely have enough shelf space for 1-10 so collecting another 6 would probably topple everything over.

Does anyone recommend purchasing Spice and Wolf? Watched the first few episodes, seems fairly interesting.

Great series but leaves you wanting more as the anime only covered the first few books with little to no hope with ever being picked up again.

A lot of people here liked it but... I watched both seasons and even though I watched it until the end, I can't say I really liked it. It's interesting thanks to the whole merchant thing and the story around both protagonists. As Pikegreg said, you leave wanting more but you never get a satisfying conclusion. I'd type out some spoilers on exactly why I didn't like it but it's almost 3:30 AM soooo maybe another time (or I'll edit this later).

You can probably watch a few episodes on Hulu or even Funimation.com and from there you can make a decision on if you want to bite or not.

what the hell happened. hellsing ultimate volume 9-10 is only available from third party sellers on amazon and 5-8 is at 60 dollars w/ prime.

I'm sorry to be a pain in the *ahem* again, but do items marked as "Bargain Bin" at RightStuf actually go on major sales (BF too)?  I didn't remember reading anything about it in the BF thread for previous years or in this thread.  Sorry.

I'm going to make one more impulse order before BF - just need to decide how much I'm spending at RS first.

Sometimes they get bundle releases, but those will obviously not be restocked. It also varies how much they get discounted further.

Well it may be a restock thing but 9-10 is still low on Rightstuf and the second probably went up bc the LE is oop and they finally sold all of them for super cheap.

Impulse order me the Sailor Moon set 1. Blu-ray, because I'm not a filthy peasant-folk.

So is Hellsing Ultimate now oop? Damnit I should've got them for cheap instead of waiting for RightStufs sale
You can still get em with Rightstuf just not the LE. And it's like 80 on Amazon so just check some other stores I'm sure they still have copies for sale.

I'm now sad. I should've picked up 5-8 when it was 20 bucks no questions asked. I always wondered why it went on sale so frequently while 1-4 was consistently at the 40 dollar mark. 9-10 hadn't been released yet. Now its more or less oop.

I was at Best Buy and they still had them. I was thinking about getting Hellsing Ultimate 1-4, but ended up getting Ghost in the Shell Arise with my $5 mystery coupon. I hadn't seen that before. If Hellsing Ultimate is going out of print, I might want to go back. 1-4 is $22, 5-8 is $14, and 9 & 10 is $27.

How is GITS: Arise? I hadn't really read much about it.

To anyone that was disappointed that their Shiki save set didn't have the chipboard box, you might take a chance with this part 1 le set for $13.66 on AWD. It says it might be repackaged, but it also says it's factory sealed.

If it is like the Princess Jellyfish repacked one, it has no artbox

You do know that everywhere besides Amazon has it instock right? Their stock probably ran low because of the new release.
