 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

I have the original Complete collection release, which was five thin packs wide, so only about twice as wide as that case.
More than double. And those thinpak releases typically drop any and all extras. Monica Rial's commentary is hilarious.

I'm sure it was, but I'm not spending $20-$25 per disc for 7 discs on pretty much anything (I didn't with FMP, and I fucking LOVE FMP, though interestingly, the FMP litebox release has all 7 discs so it had all the custom FBI warnings, including the english versions, sadly left off the Funi release, the english ones were, the japanese ones were left on, I think)

Trust me, most of the discs are nowhere near that high, even before the re-release.

And anyway, the Sentai Selects version includes all those extras.

Yeah, me neither!

...
Well sure, but that was the old days, I wouldn't do that anymore.
*Turns slowly to the left and sees Fairy Tail

I'd wait and see what the new season 1 release of Hayate is like (assuming you're getting it). I remember reading some vague rumblings about changes to the subtitles or somesuch. It can't hurt to hold off on getting rid of 1-7 until you know for sure.

I didn't look into it very much.

The only good thing about this sale is it's helping me rebuild my "save for later" wish list. I forgot about some of these titles.

I was talking about the original release back in the day, not now.  Also, I checked my Angelic Layer box, and it is just as I said, it's only about 2 1/2 times as wide as a single dvd case.

The first part was about my not spending $25 per disc for 7 discs, during the original release time.  The second part was just saying that box was not very wide at all, and it's not going to take up that much more space than a single width release.

Rightstuf 5% off non-sale items Friday and Saturday only

Ends 12/19 11:59CST

Might be a unique promo code but I'll post mine anyway 'cause seriously 5% is nothing.

Promo code: RSEMAIL-1218

Have the DVDs for Gundam Unicorn been lower before?  I have the first Blu of Unicorn, but at this point I don't expect I'll ever get the rest of them, nor do I expect a cheaper Blu-Ray release anytime soon... or should I just wait?

Cheapest new I've seen them is around $15-$16, though the base price tends to be $17.99.

Even though Rightstuf's sale wasn't great this year I still spent a few hundred on misc titles I wanted. Honestly I'm not a fan of buying used so I don't go through GoHastings very often.

Also hoping for a B1G1 or B2G1 sale and B&N or something this year as well since there's quite a bit of manga I want to pick up.

I know not too many of you here care to import any anime, but just a heads up that Korea released a Region A Limited Edition Blu-ray of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time in both a Lenticular slipcase ($31.99) and standard slip version ($30.99), with English sub-only.  These are Numbered Editions, with 1800 for the Lenticular and 1200 for the Slip version. Unfortunately, they sold out of both of these in only one day, but perhaps a second run of these may come out down the road...

Dont think a second run will come (didnt for the GitS sets right?) but maybe a standard edition down the line. Man I juuuuuust missed this too when it was posted on br.com

Yeah, there were two runs for the GitS Lenticulars, at least for the first S.A.C. set - a numbered run of 300, then a numbered run of 700... Heck, if they can sell out 3000 copies of TGWLTT in a single day, they'd be stupid not to make money by releasing more... but you never know, it's probably is all they were licensed to make.

Fortunately, I ordered two copies yesterday, in two separate orders - I ordered one by itself, then later in the day I decided to order another copy along with an additional Blu-ray I was wanting to get, with the intent of cancelling my first order - but since it sold out so quickly, I've decided to keep both orders, now...

Another show that needs an American reprint badly

Fortunately, I bought my copy of the Bandai Blu-ray when it first released in 2011 - I bought it for my two daughters as a surprise for them, because it was a favorite anime of theirs at the time. It also happened to be the very first anime I ever bought on disc, Blu-ray or DVD. I got it for just $21. Now, it's kept sealed in an archival storage bag and they're not allowed to touch it, lol...

Well the RS sale wasn't a total loss. I was able to complete my Dr. Slump manga collection with the Viz bundle.   Really wish they would have done something similar with Death Note and Case Closed.

I didn't realize it was rare. But that does explain why I saw a used copy at Vintage Stock for $80. I just thought they had lost their God dang minds.

Yeah, and I kinda wish now with my second order I would have selected the Fullslip version, so I'd have copy of each release - but at the time I placed my second order, I was only thinking single-mindedly - that I'm re-ordering the same release with an additional title and canceling my first order. So, now I'll end up with 2 copies of the Lenticular edition. Oh well - I'm a huge fan of 3D and also 3D Lenticulars, so I'm good...

Amazon has those for the same price, interestingly enough. Was this series disappointing? Most of what I've read on it seems to indicate as much.
Disappointing would imply anybody had expectations going in that it would be good.

This was just bad.

Mega Deal

Day 40

Space Brothers Collection 6 Blu-ray Retail Price: $59.98, Your Member Price: $29.99

Space Brothers Collection 6 DVD Retail Price: $49.98, Your Member Price: $24.99
Im confused....whats the point of having ONE SALE ITEM???

What's funny is that most in the anime subforum on BR.com disagree with that lol.

Again remember that it was one of the first anime BDs to come out. So it is really lacking compared to releases today (so that score was valid when it came out but yea).
perhaps....but there is an argument to be made that anime blu ray releases arent getting better in anything except picture and sound quality....and even then it can be a crapshoot. just take the whole subtitle issue that was discussed 2 or 3 pages back

I'd argue theres only a handful of animes on blu ray that I've seen that are really great quality....one of which is evangelion.

They're stretching that thing out to 8 sets?  Now I'm glad I didn't cave in and buy Space Brothers.  Even if I had just bought the ones that were on sale, I'd be looking at $123 with 3 volumes yet to purchase.

Didn't think they would sell out so quick. Hoping for another run.

GoHastings was amazing this year. A week or so ago, when they were doing their 50% off used sale, I ordered Freezing Vibration. The sale was supposedly 'DVD only' -- and Freezing was marked under DVDs. Lo and behold, the limited edition Bluray set shows up today in near mint condition. I'm extremely impressed, especially after having spent only $15 w/ free shipping.
