Amazon 

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon. 

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Best Buy just put the latest Studio Ghibli Blu-Ray releases on sale for $12.99 each (My Neighbors the Yamadas, The Cat Returns, Whisper of the Heart).  Yamadas is the only one not available for immediate shipping as of right now.

Just mentioning this because it's OOP and way more then MSRP usually, the original (non brotherhood) FMA series is order-able on Amazon for 64.99. Says temporarily out of stock so who knows if it will be fulfilled but still worth a shot if you want the series and missed out before. I did this with the premium darker than black series waited 6 months or more with several emails from them asking me to confirm that I still want the item if it even comes in stock then them canceling it all together because they had no plans to get anymore because it was OOP

So for me I wouldn't waste my time.

I had this ordered for almost 2 years before canceling it (used my GC balance toward it, unfortunately). I wonder if anyone actually received it.

 
I actually have two copies of that Darker than Black PE set, I had cancelled my pre-order with Funimation because I ordered it elsewhere much cheaper, but when it released two months later, Funi shipped me a copy anyway, by mistake. I never got charged for it.

I wasn't even aware of these problems until I did some google-fu. Apparently this is the issue:

We've had inquiries from those of you with Amazon orders for the 20th Anniversary Utena Blu-ray set. Amazon has currently delisted the item because we don't have a new release date set for it. However, for some reason Amazon is telling people it is shipping this week. It is not. The set will not ship until we get the new rings which are currently under production.

The rings are very nice quality and therefore they take a lot of time to re-manufacture. We hope that those of you who have ordered this item will please be patient with us as we work to get this issue resolved.

Update on the Utena 20th Anniversary box sets:

Regretfully, due to circumstances beyond our control, the 20th Anniversary Revolutionary Girl Utena Blu-ray Box Set will be delayed. The ring components of this product have been lost by the carrier, and while we have attempted to wait for them to be found, this has not occurred. Therefore these components will have to be remanufactured.

We realize this will come as a disappointment to many of you who hoped to have this wonderful box set for the holiday. Rest assured that we will do everything in our power to expedite the re-manufacture so that we can ship this item to you as soon as possible. All other components are in house and we will assemble them internally to turn them the day that they arrive.

Please accept my personal apologies for this issue. I was truly hoping that the materials would be located in time.

Given that I got the sale information from the official funimation twitter, I don't think it is merely a price match, but I believe they could have the same prices and funimation is just running a sale on both at once :p

 
I got Dagashi Kashi from the Best Buy sale. Not a bad price. Seems like Amazon didn't match that one. Psycho Pass is cheaper on Amazon however so I might grab that.

There are some great prices here. Legend of the Legendary Heroes is a steal at that price. Wish it had a follow up season or two.

Edit: Also, Good Luck Girl is a steal at that price. Show is so fun.

Sadly, everything I would buy from Funimation at this point would be blind purchases. The only thing I might go for are live action Kenshin and Space Dandy. 

Change that, Funimation, and get the rights to Satoshi Kon's work.

I made an order for the Toradora! complete series on Blu-ray/DVD when it was on sale for $60 on Rightstuf about a week ago. The status of the product was "Out of Stock, Expecting More". I noticed that the product page for the Blu-ray/DVD Bundle isn't available anymore as of today, although the status of my order is still "Pending Shipment". 

I assume Rightstuf isn't going to restock it and cancel my order?

I ordered Bererk bundles before and even though it passed that sale time, it does keep in order and eventually, you’ll receive it. How long you have to wait? You may have to contact them for ETA. It could be few weeks or even few months. It happened in both occasion. It’s your call if your patient is great.

A week isn't a long time to wait for a backordered item. The series is still available on NISA's website and the product is still listed on rightstuf's website just not as a bundle. The bundle was delisted because it was a sale only item, the individual parts are still there marked as "out of stock expecting more".

It's not just DBZ... I don't like when any video is released in a different aspect ratio than it was created in. They crop and/or stretch and you don't get the original experience.

Avatar TLA is getting a BR release this year. Hopefully they keep it 4:3. Probably going to be an upscale anyway since I remember reading the series was not created in HD.

The blu-ray sets aren't bad. I have only ever seen DBZ from the orange brick DVD sets so that is all I know and I was happy with that. Yes these blu-ray sets are just an upscale basically from that but if you do your homework and compare the video quality from the orange brick sets to this there is a big difference in my opinion which can be found here.

The orange bricks shared many of the same problems. You're literally comparing two negatives and claiming a positive.
