Another another ADV Sale
I ordered all of the Noir discs available + Spriggan, thanks.
I got everything yesterday (Wednesday). All in great condition, w/ tiny holes though the UPCs.

well, I received the original sale stuff yesterday (YAY!).
I ordered the nadesico set, and milk chan vol 3 and 4.
As a freebie, they sent me milk chan 2, which I already have (otherwise why would I just order 3 and 4?). Anyhow, it was free, so I guess I can't complain.
Aside from the tiny drill mark, everything was in great condition.
Now we'll see how long it takes to get the stuff from this sale.
I love the addition that ADV put at the top of their sale page:

If I were others, than I'd be very leery of doing business with this company. They have been known for cutting up DVD boxes and drilling through them. So if you like your boxes without holes or being cut up then just be wary when you order from them.
Why do you harp on this fact all the time I post this sale? I always point that out, but you make it sound like they're tearing the boxes to smithereens.

They're usually light cuts or small drillings, no deeper than the paper on most occasions. This is a typical industry practice when sending screeners or advance copies to review sites. Even the big-name studios do this. These sales from ADV are most likely the remaining copies of those advances, and thus because of the small defacings they'll gladly sell them at a fraction of retail just to get rid of them.

I agree, some people are making a mountain out of a molehill because of this. I've ordered from all of their sales, and it's either been a small drill hole or an x through the upc. The discs were still wrapped and played perfectly. Some people might miss out on some really good deals if they do mind a little blemish.

I got all my new discs in and they are perfect and sealed and have very very small holes in the UPC , awesome deal indeed.

Just got my discs today. Absolutley perfect condition, No scratches, tears, or rips anywhere on the boxes. They also did not drill through my UPC's! While this doesn't matter much to me, I know some of you were worried about this. Obviously, results my vary but it's a chance worth taking next time around considering the prices.

[EDIT] - Also, for anyone who ordered the Blue Seed Perfect Collection, they shipped me the Thinpak version, and not the pictured regular version.

I don't try to harp on you particularly, just on these sales. All I'm trying to do is make people cautious, becuase though I recieved the multitude of my items in near mint condition/just a drill hole, some of my items came in later than others and had huge rips in the back of the barcode. this pissed me off to know end and I just don't feel like doing business with a company that can deface DVDs in such a manner.

Watchman, please don't take it personal or anything. In no way, shape, or form am I against you.

Could I ask you what's the difference between the two? i had never known that there were two different versions. I think I've only seen the regular version at stores.

The thinpak version uses the thinpak style dvd cases. It's also in 2.0 Dolby Digital, which if I remember correctly, the original release was not. As far as I could tell there was no other discernable differences between the two.

For anyone not familiar with thinpak style cases:
