New T&Cs

Nor clear how this updated info will apply to existing preorders.

To clarify, toys to life includes Amiibos, Skylanders and the like.

CEs = Collector Editions of video game releases.  Not clear on LE or Day One editions.

What are toys to life?  Sucks that it doesn't work on CEs anymore.  Though I never buy those.  I assume this is the 20% discount?  Does Bestbuy apply to CEs?

Amiibo, Skylanders etc.

Did anyone pre-order Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind's CE when it was $30? My order still has that price and it ships Tuesday

Well apparently this has already been in effect because they refused to give me the discount on my Fire Emblem amiibo from 2 weeks ago.  I spoke with 2 different reps who refused to apply it.

Prime discount was already worse than GCU, what with it only applying to MSRP and having a 2-week time limit, but they somehow made it even worse! Congrats!

That's some shit.

I hope its just for actual collectors editions... how long until this starts to apply to day one editions or anything with an outer box or steel case or pack in soundtrack or something?

Wow, might have to cancel my prime now then... one of the main reasons I had it...
yeah, plus the last time I ordered a CE from Amazon (BotW Master Sword) they cancelled my order a week before shipping leaving me SOL. I bought GCU a few weeks ago and have been shifting my ordering over there for games

Oh well, it was awesome while it lasted. Still love my Fire Emblem Fates SE for 20% off MSRP. Not concelling my prime membershipp though, I only pay $50/ year, so that's totally worth it.

It probably has something to do with the fact that Amazon 4 billions last year and it's getting worse.  Get ready for some changes.  They are going to look for any corner to cut.

Am I missing something? Because Prime never applied to Toys to Life for me, and all the CE preorders still have a Prime discount.

It seems that all retailers who copy other companies promotions tend to do so in such a half assed way it is mind boggling. Companies who try to copy Prime for 2 day shipping do a crap job of it. And amazon tries to copy GCU and does a crap job of it.

Now I'll actually have to return my CEs/LEs when they arrived crushed.

I recall seeing prime discount on preorder amiibos
I think it might be one of those "moving forward" type of deals, as I still see many listings of CEs/LEs that still have a discount applied to them, but stuff that are fairly further off I see that they no longer have the discounts applied to the pre-order button.

Looks like they removed the 2-week window after release as well (so the discount is now pre-order only). And the discount is now based on list price, not any discounted price (so you get lesser of list-20% or the discounted price, instead of discount-20% the way it had worked (and the way GCU still works).

Yuck.

Sadly it was always 20% off msrp/list so that isn't a change, but it was always a shitty aspect of it.

Yeah, the discount was always 20% max off MSRP, so even if the normal pre-order list price went down below the MSRP by a few bucks, it still scaled it to a 20% cap.

Prime was never the same as GCU, as GCU works on all games and all times (minus Black Friday deals), so not just pre-orders or the two week window. GCU is a continuous 20% discount no matter how long the games been out, and what the price drops to. Prime was only pre-orders, and the aforementioned grace period after release.

That is some shit man. Whelp time to cancel my Prime membership and good thing too the next billing date is tomorrow. Amazon should of waited an extra day to announce this stupid move and they would of gotten one last payment from me.

Every Amiibo I've purchased from Amazon (pre-order and first two weeks of release) has been 20% off. I didn't order the recent FE 2 pack from them but lots of folks mentioned not getting the 20% off for the first time. This must have been the reason.

Huh. I never noticed. Ah well. No loss then and more of my money to Best Buy.

I just had a thought. You know how companies are doing this dumb thing where they have a CE, but the game isn't included, maybe they mean that. For example the Injustice 2 CE statue set had no 20% Off discount because the game wasn't included. Or the Battlefield 1 CE last year, etc.

I hope everyone who insists on ordering everything from Amazon realizes they're helping to create the next GameStop.  All Amazon is doing is monopoly building.  All the "deals" will be gone as soon as they are successful.

this is such a shame.  canceled all my CE's from Amazon and pre-ordered them at Best Buy.  I'm not certain if I should keep prime or not.

Holy $hit. Thx ..

Hi Bestbuy I would like to buy a membership now with my prime renewal funds.

People can speak with their wallets. If Amazon say gets a 50,000 drop in Prime subscriptions by next year, they will re-think things.

Though I doubt that happens, because most users don't have it just for game purchases.

With the way Amazon has been heading lately, I have a feeling they will use this very liberally. Not count discounts on certain "borderline" CEs. Like Day One Premium Editions, etc.

Definitely not renewing Prime after this year.

If you have prime for discounts on video games you're using it wrong anyway. Huge waste imho.

Maybe now they'll put their CEs in an actual box with padding instead of an envelope or an empty box........................

.....

.....

No they won't. :<
