The open beta just started today, and it will likely be free to play when the game releases. It's also being localized here as Sword of the New World.

What sets this game apart from other MMOs - besides its Baroque setting - is that you can fully control a party of three characters. There are five different character types, so it's fun to experiment with different character combinations. It gets hectic in a hurry since most of the game is one persistent world, and you can even create squads of multiple parties.

Yeah I'm playing it.

Unfortunately IMO it plays out like most Korean created MMO's, pretty to look it but no real meat to it. It's also a huge grindfest. The game looks really nice, but there is hardly any story to speak of. The quests are almost non-existent, there are a couple small quest chains, but for the most part the rest of the quests are quite literally kill 50,100,250, etc... of a certain type of mob. Not the most exciting and fun stuff.

As for the game play it's kind of fun for a little while, it plays out a lot like Diablo 2 except with 3 characters. The biggest problem I have with the game play is it's a pain in the ass to actually use any skills besides the auto attack function. Most mobs die in 1-2 hits so high damage single target skills are almost useless. AoE type spells always take too long to start casting or simply don't cast at all. I'll be surrounded by a pack of 4-5 mobs and I'll hit the hotkey for my AoE spell and about 50% of the time it won't cast. It also basically has a built in afk bot feature which takes away a little bit of the grind since you can simply camp out somewhere and afk level grind. Most good spots are heavily camped though and the bot is far from perfect so a lot of the time you'll come back to a dead party.

I'm playing, I'm at level 20.

jimbodan, the reason your spell won't cast is because that character either doesn't have a target at the time, or your target is already dead (this can happen due to slight lag). All you have to do is send in your tank, use provoke, then manually click on your Ele and cast the spell on top of your tank. The only person that should be using patrol mode is your healer, and thats if you're lazy. Tank should use the Stop mode and your Ele you should control manually, attacking by clicking on the enemies.

i played a bit in the closed beta but stopped after about a week or two because of exactly the same reason jimbodan said in his first paragraph.

Looks pretty, but substance just isn't there. Though I might check it out again just because it's free lol

Is there any way I can force my character to cast regardless of target? There is just no way I can control my musketeer and elementalist manually. There are just far too many monsters coming at the same time and constantly spawning. I don't have a tank so I can't use provoke. Usually I've been control+clicking somewhere to move and force my squad to attack everything along the way, if I try to do it manually I hardly ever attack anything since I'm passing tons of squads set to auto attack and they pick up targets way faster then I can manually.
