I did, I thought my Wii was fucked as soon as I pop in Wii sports I get can not read disk, then I eject flip the disk then it works. :bomb:

And I have a question here to avoid making another thread. I don't have Wireless internet. Is it true that you can buy one of those wi-fi dongles that where for the DS and you can then be connected to wii online?

Nope, I made certain I was putting it in the right way!

And yes. Or any wireless access point (which would probably be cheaper).

No, I put the disc in correctly. Reading the manual helps :).

And yes, even if you don't have wireless internet you can hook it up to your computer similar to the DS dongle. I personally have a router already but can't connect--I keep getting an error.

Who the hell reads manuals? Women, thats who.

How exactly does the dongle thing work? I know I can probably research and figure it out, but someone here should know.

I take offense to that, I never read manuals, its my fiance who insists on that!

The only reason I knew which way to put it in is because I got to watch the worker at EB change the disk from excite truck to tony hawk, so I paid attention to which way it went. :p

No, but I almost did. I paused and then looked again and noticed where the top of the system actually was.

Can anyone recomend a good wifi dongle that should work for the Wii.

The official Nintendo one is $35+ shipping.

I looked on ebay and there where some listed for like $8 at buy it now. Anything specific to look for to make sure it works, or should they all be compatible?

I can say with full confidence that I put Wii Sports the wrong way the first time. Was it just me or did it seem like the Wii was one of the hardest consoles to set up? It was probably just me because it seems so fragile.

Really just one extra wire for the sensor bar, but pretty easy I thought.

Did you put your wii disk in backwards the first time?

No. I'm not cool. I don't place my consoles vertically.

Consoles come with manuals?!?!? When the fuck did this happen?
I put it in backwards. I blame temporary madness due to sleep deprivation.
Makes sense to me. I'll use that excuse to!

Buy a router.

Nope, I remembered watching On the spot last week and hearing one of the guys mention how the disc would go in

Wii Connection setup:
The connection test was successful. Your Wii will now be automatically updated.

NO, NOT AGAIN, NOOOO!

Cracked me up. Lucky bastards.

If by using a dongle you could get your wii wireless then using a router with your existing internet would thus also get your wii wireless.

The only exception to this is if you have dialup in that case your wii should not go online

I just guessed on how to insert the CD-thingy (is it a CD or DVD?) and got it right the first time. I tried another game later on and the Wii couldn't read the disc, I realized I had inserted it the wrong way:lol:

People usually don't buy "wireless internet", they buy a wireless router. Thus making their wired connection wireless!

Please explain to me why you couldn't do the same thing?

LMAO, the same happened to me.

you have XBL so I assume you have a xbox which requires broadband only

so if you have broadband, how exactly could you NOT get a router to enable yourself wireless internet?

I put it in the right way since I knew that there had to be room for the laser in there, and there wouldn't be enough room for the laser on the other side of the Wii.

I don't have a wireless router, I like the way everything is set up now running through ethernet cables. I already got a dongle on the way and should have it by the end of this week.

It happened to me the 2nd time. When I put in wii sports it worked fine, so I next put in Zelda and it didn't work and I was scared. Turns out it was the wrong side.

Are you talking about a USB to Ethernet adaptor or a Wifi USB stick?

I didn't read the manual for the disc. If the system lays horizontal, which way will the disc go in? Problem solved. I did however need to figure out where to put the sensor bar. Well the proper way.

Definately made sure to check the manual. Had a friend that messed up his IMAC years ago with its "feeding" drive. So I made sure to double check.

I read every single manual I get cover to cover.

I need something to read while on the shitter.

co-signed.

I jumped in the thread wondering how the fuck do you put the disc in wrong. Until I read your post I forgot people actually put them vertical.

sorry, i'm a little new to the wifi thing. If I buy that pictured dongo, do I ALSO need a router.....I got the impression I only needed to plug the dongo into my pc which has cable internet and then my Wii could access the dongo directly

Yup as long as you got high speed internet (cable, DSL) running through the computer. Just plug that dongle into a USB port and your wii will be up on running online. I assume that the computer has to be fairly close to your Wii, but I may be wrong.
