Apple WWDC 2008 - 3G iPhones - 8GB = $199 16GB = $299 (AKA iPhone Thread)
Go into the itunes store and click the App Store link. They have a handy link to all of the free apps that you can browse from there.
Meh...I need to install iTunes. Well its good to know there's a lot of them that are free.

Does the iPhone allow you to upload your own custom ringtones free of charge?

Does that program work on OSX? It only says it works on Windows. I might need to bring my laptop over to my sister's so she can make some ringtones for their new iPhone.

Anyone care to tell me how to downgrade to 1.1.4?

I'm new to all of this (just got my iPhone last week), and don't know how to do any of that DFU stuff.

FYI

To those looking to get a 3G from an Apple Store and have a corporate discount on your line....

You have to talk to AT&T either in person at a corporate store or over the phone and have them temporarily remove the corporate discount from your line before you go to an Apple Store

The Apple Store's POS will not let you get an Iphone with that discount on your line

I saw over a dozen people get denied Iphones for that reason today

Even when AT&T temporarily removes that discount, only about 25% of the people got their phones approved

I can confirm this. After spending 4.5 hours waiting and purchasing my own iPhone at an AT&T store this morning, I ended up at an Apple store this afternoon with my manager who was turned away after we waited over three hours because of this same issue.

FYI for people who want the original Iphone:

I saw about dozen 1G Iphone trade-ins at an AT&T store during my Iphone ordeal yesterday

I dunno how they'll be sold, but I'd expect an increase in the number of Iphone 1G refurbs available

Keep an eye on the refurb sections of the Apple Store and AT&T

There was also a large number of people upgrading from the old one to the 3G one, so expect an influx on ebay and Craigslist, though they prolly won't be as cheap as the refurbs

So I got T-Zones activated last night, and the EDGE worked for a number of hours, but now it won't connect! Is there something I need to do on the phone itself?
Yeah, all you have to do is put "wap.voicestream.com" where it asks you for your EDGE settings. I have a BB plan, and thought I was going to have to pay another $5.99 on top of that, but thankfully I didn't.
Do you mean on the Settings menu? Do I put that under APN, Username, or Password?
Yes, go into Installer and download the T-Zones hack.
Are you sure that's necessary? Like I said, it worked great for a few hours, and now the connection isn't coming through all the way.

IIRC, T-Zones is only supposed to work for a few mobile sites but that T-Zones hack acts as a proxy and filters all web traffic through T-Mobile's approved port, or something like that.

Why are 3G iPhones selling for like 2 to 3 times their value on Ebay? I don't understand why people run and buy anything Apple when it first comes out because they never have everything ready at launch.

If you want to check out a fellow CAG's application, my program Molecules (free) is in the App Store: http://www.sunsetlakesoftware.com/molecules . It's a 3-D molecular viewer that lets you download biomolecules like DNA and proteins and manipulate them with your fingers. It's aimed at a scientific / educational crowd, but it does provide a good demonstration of some of the computing capabilities of the iPhone and iPod Touch.

A lot more cool stuff (including many, many games) is still coming down the pipe from developers I met at WWDC.

Any idea on how much they were trading them in for?

Installed, now let's see if it works! (EDIT: SUCCESS!)

Also, how can I edit the buttons on my home screen? This stupid Zibri blog button is ugly. :p

People who were trading in Iphones were just getting a 3G Iphone for free

I was in an AT&T store today looking for a 3G case, and I couldn't believe people were paying $$ today for the promise of an Iphone delivered to the store in a month

The best was when one employee deterred someone from going to the Apple Store by saying the AT&T store got the same # as Apple stores, which is complete horseshit.

I got my Iphone from the Apple Store in Mall of America in MN, and they still had phones when I left last night, while the AT&T store had sold out before 11 AM

Went to a different, smaller Apple Store today to pick up a case, and there was a line to purchase Iphones, and they still had plenty of Iphones to sell

If you're still looking now, it's just best to assume AT&T stores are sold out. Try an Apple store instead.
You guys try Tap Tap Revenge yet? Super cool (and free) rhythm game. :) The lightsaber app is awesome too!
Isn't it called Tap Tap Revolution?

Nope.

Do I need the previous software update to get the new one for my iTouch? Don't see it mentioned when it pops up on iTunes and can't even find the old one when I look.

If I had to guess, I'd say no.

Iphones aren't available unlocked and without a contract yet

There's been no date given either

You're best bet to score an Iphone w/o a contract is to watch the Apple and AT&T refurb stores

The AT&T website had 8G Iphones for $250 about a month ago

for the text packages, I got the 200 texts for $5/month. Is that 200 sent or 200 total(sent&received)

The lightsaber app was cool

I'm sorry, I sure this has been posted numerous times, but what is the cheapest plan available for the iPhone? And there is data & talk plans?

I currently use prepaid cell phones, just trying to figure out if it's doable for me.

$69.99 for 450 anytime minutes and 5,000 night/weekend minutes. Unlimited data and m2m. That's from a pamphlet I got from the AT&T store.

Personally, they want way too much more money than what I pay with T-Mobile and it's less minutes. I'll stick with my iTouch for now. :whistle2:?
How do I format the message?

(XXX)[email protected]

Or something?
Nah, just the 10 digit phone number.
AIM has done this for years but I'm now learning that most people didn't know about it.

I have a separate friends group that's just cell numbers.
