Are there any girls out there in existence on this man - manifested site?

With gaming studies becoming an actual career path these days, I'd be interested to see the results of an in-depth analysis about the scism between girls that game and girls that don't.

I remember seeing something on the Discovery Channel awhile back analyzing how genetics plays a role in why men lean more towards technical jobs then women (also talked about why men are averse to "sensitivity," but thats a topic for CheapAssDating...). I wonder if the same thing applies here? I wonder if the same thing applies here? Is there an actual genetic rule that girl gamers are an exception to?
How much do you want to bet that I get yelled at by someone for posting this, and accused of misogeny?
Well, it's different if you're joking or if you're serious. And there's plenty of jokes out there about men. There are plenty worse things to say, for either gender.

So I'll just say that you spelled misogyny wrong.

My wife is a sports fan and a casual (platformers, anything with Nintendo characters). Oh, and she certainly doesn't smell...

Banky should run the CAG dating service. ;)
Why should Banky get all the fun? I wanna yell the loud funny words too!
Let him be the id, I can be the super-ego, and the ridiculous flesh puppets... um, I mean the users... yeah thats it... can be their own ego.
If I ran it, I'd act like Donald Trump...someone gets out of line, "You're BANNED'D!" Oh yeah, the use of "U (you), R (are), Ur (you're/your), and 2 (instead of to/too)" would also be immediate grounds for bannination!
And whoever made that smell comment: 1) it's rude, and 2) it's not true.
That would be me: 1) I know , and 2) :whistle2:#

I think you're pretty safe. I doubt there's a lot of people who could define "misogyny," and those who could are probably the same people who'd find the humor in what you posted. :D
i know you are a girl. its the only thing that would reasonably explain your blatant abuse of smiley faces.
ZING!

yeah. im not going to send my pictures out to strangers, sorry. a limit for me. and also, that was not blatant abuse at all. trust me, only 5 smileys? this is me on a GOOD day. :) you dont want to even imagine seeing me on a bad day...i think my record's about 20- something smileys.

Good way to cover your bases. If I was joking, it was just a simple error.
If I wasn't, it was a good cornerstone to build an attack on.

:)

For the record I'm joking.
But there are times you just want to lob those softballs out there and see if anyone can hit a homerun.

Yes, Banky, your padawan has a long way yet to go.

Geez, I feel like such a geek saying that.

Hmm, is there a better way?
Youthful Charge? Nah, that has 60's Batman and it's innuendo attached to it. Devout Follower? Nah, even worse. Job Shadower? Nah, still freaky conotations. Intern? Close, but no cigar.

Oh well, I guess that probably is the best way to say it.

This thread is getting pretty long, in general i believe that guys are naturally more attracted to gaming in general.

Guys in general are stimulated visually, Girls are more stimulated by relationships and feelings.

Language is another example, guys tend to be more specific and to the point, while girls tend to be more discriptive.

Society can also play a part in it. Guys are more expected to play games, while girls are expected or influenced to pick up other hobbies.
----------------------------------------------------------
Yes I got rid of all my toys too, but ive managed to rebuild what I lost :) Transformers, Thundercats, GI Joe. My advice on those TF remake collectors, just wait. Ive seen so many TRU's full of shelf sitters, so those 29.99 TF remakes are due for a clearance. CAG style.

for some reason, i just saw a sear's commercial to tv, and it had the instrumental beat of crank yankers. you know, "come one, come all, cuz we're havin' a ball, we're just makin' some calls to strangers..." in a more robotic, different melody version but still the same thing.

completely offtopic, but it busted my brain on how to why sear's would have a crank-yanker theme in their commercial. or perhaps im just delusional.

WOAH! absolutely NO smileys in that entire post! and to think that my drunken with smiley power has been vanquished... but my reign will yet again stir, because you have not seen the last of Drunken with Smiley Power DeadZone Girl! *flies off like a superhero with a cape and all while dramatic background music plays*

lackey, lackey works nicely i think

yes, I can tell you all that I find a girl who plays video games a turn on. Going to Gameworks on a Friday night and seeing a hot girl doing a quarter circle fireball in Marvel vs Capcom is 10 times hotter then some girl playing pool.

From my experience, some common games girls like are Bust a move, DDR, pokemon, Mario kart games & light gun games.

I'm sure other girls dig GTA and FPS games, I just don't meet that many.

so what you're saying is i'm unique. :)

lol. or maybe not. but i'd like to think so, because it's always good to have a compliment. huzzah

Damn straight its hot seein a girl play a fighting game. BUT having that girl hand your ass to you in said game is anything but hot.

On a side note, my ex used to play CS and BF42 with me. Now she plays Gunbound like crazy. Sigh, how did I let a girl like that go. Oh yeah cuz she was bi
I'm sure other girls dig GTA and FPS games, I just don't meet that many.
There used to be this game shop I would go to that had 8-player LAN Halo setup...4 gaming rigs with 4 futons...and there would be chicks in there from time to time playing.

But alas, they're long gone.
Sigh, how did I let a girl like that go. Oh yeah cuz she was bi
 Dude...you had it made!

Well I just spotted this thread. Yep, I'm female, a gamer, and not afraid of to show it. Woohoo! I started playing games when I was old enough to hold a controller and went from Atari 2600 and Intellivision to the NES in 85. Since then its all been downhill. I buy tons of games, play them at home, work and inbetween. And I'll literally play every genre except FPSs. Burned myself out on those in the mid 90s during the Doom/Quake craze and haven't recovered yet. Also not too big on sports titles, probably the same reason but I will play them. My favorite genre is probably RPGs - hell I don't even mind random battles anymore! - and um, Diablo 2. God only knows how many hours I've put into that game. Just mentioning it makes me want to play it again.

Did I hide my gaming in high school? No! I was the freak that loved heavy metal and played video games. Most of my friends from school could be prodded into checking out a game or two and when I was even a lil younger all the guys wanted to hang out at my house because I had the latest and greatest consoles and games around always.

I also like football, am crazy about the LSU Tigers college football team, and will watch other sports as well. Am into many geeky pursuits such as being a "lite" anime watcher, fantasy novel enthusiast, etc. I just wish there were more gamer grrls instead of having to hear about how its a "kids hobby" from other chickies my own age (22). Luckily I do have one friend that's into certain games (music/rhythm, platformers, the Sims, Mario Party and fighters). That's it. :p

Fellas, don't give up hope. I recently met an amazing gal who is always up for playing games w/me. Hell, the first time she was over we played Pac Man VS. all night and the next day she said she was so addicted to Pac Man she downloaded it on her cell phone

I can't wait to get her addicted to DDR next

this thread reminds me of the article in the latest egm where they interview the sexiest girl gamer. who by the way is not even remotely sexy. now that is the true urban legend the hot female gamer. sure i know a few girls that play games. but nothing id wanna be caught in a dark alleway with. i think cag should hold its very own sexiest gamer contest. oh there was also a small blurb about the male winner of the sexiest gamer. he looks like a stoned hobbit.
 Dude...you had it made!
Man, you don't know the half. It was fun for a bit. O ok actually thinking about it maybe it was hella worth it. But eventually she was just bein shady and stuff. Eventually we just decided it was for the best to just be friends (with no benefits unfortunately) but not before she introduced me to her import model friends hehe

My girlfriend loves Mario Kart. We do play games whenever we're over at my house, but my selection doesnt have too many multiplayer games.

sure i know a few girls that play games. but nothing id wanna be caught in a dark alleway with.

And most "male" gamers are total geeks that girls don't want to get caught being seen with. Or total stoners. Or both. Atleast that's the case around this area. The girl gamers I know are all quite attractive and don't have ten kids in tow like the rest.

Kittycatgirl... You described my housemates perfectly. I try not to be associated with them very much so as to not turn off girls such as yourself

Oh yah and a tip for any dude out there looking to snag a "gaming chick". Just hang around any mall that has a mini arcade equipped with DDR, Dance Maniax or any other Bemani game. DDR nuts like myself are usually female and also like anime. Games/DDR/anime - it usually goes together. I've met some cool people when I used to hang around places with the DDR machine installed but lately have been working too much to. Those that are afraid of having their asses handed to them at games might want to stay away though because we tend to be hardcore. :D

Most of the girls that I see hanging around the DDR machines are usually smelly, gothic, loud, or all three. I'm not saying you are kitty, but that's just been my experience. No offense to the smelly gothic chicks of the world either.

hey man. i resent that, my boyfriend is hardcore gaming (all the latest and greatest systems and about 34 games for the PS2 alone- he beat me!) and hes not a total stoner. sure he smokes every once in awhile, but only because hes bored. ok so.. umm... well i know gamers that aren't stoners or losers, definitely.

edit: stoned hobbits are cool.

Is there a reason why there are all these chicks walking around smelling so bad? Is there a reason why anyone should be walking around smelling? I was just curious since I don't go around and smell people at arcades.
edit: stoned hobbits are cool.
Hey, we have that poster in our house... 'the habit'. Proves the stoner gamer theory I guess?
Is there a reason why there are all these chicks walking around smelling so bad? Is there a reason why anyone should be walking around smelling? I was just curious since I don't go around and smell people at arcades.
You don't need to put your nose right on these people. If you're in the same arcade as them, you can smell it. Usually, the closer you are to them, the stronger it is. You have a nose don't you? All you need to do is walk by.

All the hardcore female gamers Ive met in real life smell. Seriously. Is there a code among them?
Smell like what? Fish? You'll get used to it.
Hahahahahahahahaha

stoner =\= cool

Add one more female to the ranks. Although, I'm a lurker and not much of a poster. Been playing since atari and continuing on with PS2 and GameCube. Though I do miss my Commodore 64. Not much for the DDR/Mario and such. Baldur's Gate and Grand Theft Auto types are usually the games I go after. :D

I agree with you. A girl who you like who in turn likes gaming (or comics scifi or anime for that matter) is like the holy grail. You hear about it but as far you can tell its never actually happened. No offense to any of the ladies on the site - I'm sure y'all are awesome, but you are few and far between. So my advice? Pretend that its impossible and if you some how get lucky and find one, congrats. I'd also add that you have to be careful what you wish for. If I had to come home from work to a beating in NBA Live by my girlfriend my day would go from bad to worse.

If someone smokes with any frequency, they stink.
There's no argument to that. No matter what you do, or what you smoke, that smell doesn't get out of your home, car or clothes.

Smoking pot because one is bored? Yeah, there's
some mental giants for you. Of course, killing all those extra brain cells probably doesn't help that either.

Yep, it's probably worth getting involved with drug dealers and carrying around controlled substances just because you don't have something to do to kill a few hours on a saturday night.

Don't forget to tack on the overly harsh sentences that any jurisdiction has for possession and use of drugs and drug paraphenalia.

I swear... "He does it because he's bored" is probably got to be one of the lamest, downright stupidest reasons for drug usage I've ever heard.
At least junkies have a valid reason for thier habits.

You know, this entire thread is starting to bother me. It's obvious that there aren't a shortage of women who enjoy or frequently play videogames. Sure, the hobby is still overwhelmingly dominated by men.
Everyone is whining about how they are so hard to find. Bull.
Finding one that meets your standards.. that's probably different.
Heck, from what I've been reading, the women posting obviously know they aren't alone, and the guys posting don't want a normal woman...
they want a video game playing, bisexual, supermodel nimphomaniac that revels deeply in the video games and the same obscure hobbies as they do.

I agree, I've always disliked these sorts of threads on message boards. I'm assuming it's just an age thing, I mean, when I was 16 or around that, I felt the same way. But after a while, now I basically want a girl who I can simply stand to be around, regardless of whether or not she loves games.
this thread really is starting to bother you o.o
there's a lot of those around, right?

I'm also a girl. And at 30, probably the one of the oldest ones around here too. :? I also started way back when with the 2600. Got out of gaming for a few years, since none of my friends played video games. After getting out of high school I wanted to get back into it but I think the whole 3D thing scared me some, like I thought it would be too complicated or something. Well, that and trying to adjust to living the "adult" life of paying bills and keeping a roof over my head. Shame I missed out on the Dreamcast and Saturn era.

Oh well, after a while I just couldn't stay away any longer and broke down and bought a PS1 ... and now own all 3 current-gen consoles. :) Yeah boy, I'm back and with a vengeance too!

Oh yeah, the Sims, chicks dig the sims. Yeah I agree, I just wish I could find a girl that isn't crazy or has tons of emotional bagage.

hahaha every gamer i talk to at my arcade wants that but they end up with some gothic chick that likes to play hardcore ddr but thats most of the kids there..oh well by the way i have only seen 3 hot girls play ddr ever in my life time and i used to play it religously.
