As a longtime Laker fan, I am disgraced...

rvdrock

CAGiversary!
No heart....none. Its an elimination game and they are showing absolutely no hustle, it makes me sick to my stomach. I cannot believe how poorly they played these finals...just wow...disgraceful!

And Kobe guaranteed a win tonight. What am I, a juror in his rape trial, to believe when he gets on the stand?

Yes, they came in expecting a free ride, and they got swallowed up. I'm not going to let it effect me at all, it is just a basketball game :p... but they will be back next year.

Yeah, I have always hated the Lakers. Just like I hate the Yankees. I don't like "dynasties". I want to see different teams win. I'm still not convinced that professional basketball isn't fixed. I mean the refs are so damn spotty in their calling. They need to start actually calling things like travelling.

Back next year? Fat chance, Phil is prolly headed out.. Kobe says he want to test free agency, will Malone and Payton re-sign after this embarrasment? Even if they are intact they still has to go thru the loaded WEST.. uh uh dont think so.
Yup, the lakers got out played. Oh well, they will be back next year.
Nice optimisum there BigNick but what team will be back? Shaq defn., payton..doubt it, malone? who knows, Kobe...lets wait for trial, all the bench players? does it matter? I think the Lakers won't be back next year (they will take a year or 2 to rebuild) but they WILL be back just like always. *Used to love the Lakers watching with Dad, but lost it after Phil Jackson came to town*

Whats wrong with Payton? This was his worst season ever. He only got 2 points tonite.
He got a pay cut to play like crap.

i just think he's used to being the pillar for his team, like on Seattle. he moved from first man to third man at best. Payton was one of my favorite players on Seattle back in the '90s. Shaq was my favorite player back when he was on Orlando. those were the days. i read the NBA in the sports section every day back when i was a kid.

Derek Fisher is still my favorite Laker point guard. and Horry used to be my favorite 3 man/PF, but he got traded. Medvedenko got pretty damn good this season, from the beginning taking either Shaq's or Malone's place.

yea fish is awesome, if any player in the nba deserves his paycheck its that guy, he busts his ace every minute hes on the floor.
and f kobe, that guy is the most selfish ego maniac in basketball.
I think he hangs out with ryan leaf in the offseason.

Im interested to see how things play out in the offseason though.
they better resign fish, I think malone will eb back, I cant see him calling it quits after the injuries and the season hes had. I think phil stays and kobe goes. if kobe stays phil goes. id like to see a few quality starter level players added to the roster .
we'll see, I know im a very dissappointed laker fan. I miss magic.
Yup, the lakers got out played. Oh well, they will be back next year.
Heh... most probably they won't be. Shaq, Fish and the rookies are probably the only players that will return next year. The window just closed tightly for the Lakers (well maybe not for the city of LA, as Kobe's jumping ship to Clippers). But it was nice while it lasted

same here.

anyone here it dont count out the lakers. you never know. wait till july-august when the dust settles with free agents and what not. every year someone has to say "lakers are done, kobe this, kobe that he is leaving." what happened to jason kidd? remember everybody and their moms were saying he was going to the spurs and the lakers were done. it was 100% sure he was leaving new jersey cuz he didnt like byron scott. what happened? he stayed. just like kobe will. jerry buss said kobe will be a laker for life. and they are very close.

don't jump to conclusion. just see what the off season brings.
SI speculated that Shaq and Phil could end up in Dallas. What do you guys think of that?
the mavericks would have to trade half the roster to get shaq. shaq makes 30-35 mill a year. they need to match that money and i dont think the mavs would do that. they would have shaq and a bunch of scrubs.

either phil jackson coaches the lakers or retires, no way he coaches another team while he is engaged to the owners daughter who is team president for the team.

The Lakers "guaranteed game" resulted in them being COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY DESTROYED.

Sorry for being overzealous, but you'd better believe Pistons fans (especially those in the Detroit area, like me) are DAMN well going to enjoy this opportunity to shove this up the ass of cocky reporters and fans who thought for sure the Lakers would dominate and win this series easily.

It's too bad it took "the first five game sweep in finals history" for people to stop talking about how the "Lakers are just beating themselves" and "the Pistons aren't that good."

Hopefully this brings some respect back to the east, since I have a feeling that Indiana would have also won if they were against L.A., or at least would have come very close.

in the L.A. times where kobe said the comments he did not use the word "guarantee". it was the reporters who took off with the a line kobe said and stretched it. doesnt matter though still lost. good job pistons

what do you want kobe to say when a reporter ask him " are you gonna win game 5" kobe" yes we'll win game 5 if we dont were done"

you want kobe to say" of course we'll loose"

yeah, I'm a lakers fan and I'm adult enough to say that they didn't deserve to win. The pistons took control and the lakers just fell apart. Its a damn shame, but it's just a game.

I don't think it's a shame. It shows that team ball with a couple of good, quality players and a cohesive system can defeat a team stocked up on superstars. Anything that cuts down on the Me, Me mindset and play that dominates sports is a good thing.
SI speculated that Shaq and Phil could end up in Dallas. What do you guys think of that?
Who would the Lakers want from dallas in trade? What would Dallas have to give up? How much drugs would the Kupchek have to take to trade Shaq? Sounds like someone at SI was up a bit tolate last night playing videogames and then realized 'o crap I have a deadline' and wrote something like that.

Would defn be one of the top trades of all time though.

Well the key factor here is that shaq has said that he would only play for Phil. SI Speculated that Cuban (being a go-getter and all) would try to snatch up phil over the summer, and then if shaq stays true to his word, he would want to play for dallas.

I think they said something about Walker and Jamison, and someone else. THis was a two week old article, talking about multiple possiblities. This was one of them.

LA played ho-hum basketball, while the pistons played great basketball. Put the two together and youve' got the almost consistent blowouts and a loss that didnt suck. Anyway you put it, it was exciting to watch.
shaq makes 30-35 mill a year.
Where are you getting your figures from? Try $26 million. Any 2-man combination of Walker, Finley, Jamison, and Dirk would be about all they need to get Shaq. Maybe they would have to throw in a scrub or draft pick too.

he made 26 THIS YEAR. so if they want to trade him the next season 2004/2005 contract takes affect. Im talking about next year contract which take affect. in 04/05 he will make 29.4 then 05/06 he will make 32.4 mill.

there is no way on GOD's green earth the lakers would take Jamison and ESPECIALLY WALKER for shaq.

i could see them MAYBE if they had no choice but trade is getting Dirk, finley and marquis daniels, and josh howard.

Once again Phil Jackson wont go anywhere. its either L.A. or retirement. he is dating the lakers owners daughter who has a high postition in the lakers management and i doubt him trying to coach another team while he is with her.
SI speculated that Shaq and Phil could end up in Dallas. What do you guys think of that?
Considering that Walker is leaving (being traded), Nash might not be around, and they still have enough All-Stars to fill out a roster, I could see it happen. Cuban is impatient, and even though the Lakers want to keep Shaq, he may not want to stay if Phil leaves and Kobe leaves

OK, but it's likely that the Mavs players salaries are going up next season too (dont know exact figures though). I wasn't suggesting that the Lakers WOULD do it, but that it would work out $$$ wise. I am not sure I would trade away Shaq for any combination of those players. Maybe, if they knew Kobe was leaving, I would take Dirk, Finley, and Daniels like you said.

yeah. why would the lakers try to trade shaq to dallas knowing they will get 2 players(jaimison and walker) who dont play a lick of defense. wasnt that their problem in the first place and 1 of the reason they lost to detroit? i'm pretty sure last thing laker management wants is to trade shaq to a WESTERN conference team and see them win a championship.

p.s. if any you guys follow the lakers. Jerry buss does not like mark cuban. cuban did make some comments about the lakers while back.

All I have to say is HAHA, thats what you get for being a fan of a team that has the most expensive payroll in all the Pro teams, including Football

for your info the lakers are not even in the TOP 5 in payroll

1.new york knicks: 94.3 mill
2.portland trailblazers: 86.9 mill
3.dallas mavericks: 79.1 mill
4. minnesota timberwolves: 74.2 mill
5. sacramento kings: 66.6mill
6. los angeles lakers: 64.4 mill

Umm yeah....you even said IN ALL OF PRO SPORTS. LStorm's list shows not even in the top 5 of the NBA. It helps to have facts if you're going to post something like that.

Have you ever heard of a little team called the Yankees?

32.4 mil for Shaq in two years -- that is a bad contract. With all that scratch, no wonder Shaq can't motivate himself to get in shape/stay in shape during the offseason. In two years, he will have melted down into the black Grimace.

Edited for spelling.
