You'll be waiting a long time.
No way in hell is Microsoft dumb enough to create a 4th SKU. Why would they undercut the hundreds of thousands of consoles already in store stock by releasing what people are assuming is a "new more reliable version"? What the heck would the stores do with all their other Xbox's? Your talking about a loss of millions to create a 4th sku so everyone can ignore the other models.
I am still extremely skeptical about this "falcon" assuring higher reliability in the first place. The number one reason a company goes smaller die size with chips is cost. They will have a higher yield on the production lines, that's it. In theory they should also run cooler, but nobody has any firm numbers that overheating is the main problem in the first place, it's all assumption.
I agree it probably won't be a new sku, but probably just phased in. Hopefully their will be some indication on the box (think the PS2 changes had some kind of thing on the barcode, but not a new sku), and if not I'll just wait. I'm not dying for one as the game lineup is still a bit thin (not a big shooter, sports or racer fan) so I don't mind waiting until winter or even spring when some more games I'm interested in are out, and hopefully some of the older ones like Oblivon and Gears have gotten price drops.
As for reliability, time will tell. The smaller chips run cooler, that's just simple engineering, so hopefully it will alleviate the problem. If not, I'll just pass on the console for good, and wait for another price drop on the PS3 for my HD gaming needs.
