Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
am I the only one clawing my eyes out trying to get the "extreme variety" bonus in regular play? I can regularly get 13 or 14 bonuses, but can never manage to hit magic number 15. that and triple escape seem designed to happen so incredibly rarely as to require anyone that wants the "get one of each bonus" achievement to have 5+ friends playing that can help boost it.
and just like that I finally got extreme variety in the last 5 seconds of an alliance match last night. according to the stats, that's after 2 days 8 hours of gameplay which is ridiculous.

now all I need is for three people to chase me and fail at the same time and I'll be done with all the multiplayer achievements and I can trade it in before the tiv tanks too much more. this might be my favorite AC game yet.

I've never really understood that, but I see it a lot. People say they love a game, but as soon as they get all the achievements they trade it in. Are the achievements the only worthy replay value to ya or somethin?

I guess I just might be missing something. If a game's fun, I always just keep it to play it in the future since it's...well...fun.

it's a ubisoft game, so it can be had for $20 after a few months so it's not like you can't pick it back up

Generally if it's something I really enjoy, I'll play it through and get any multiplayer achievements (before the online community dies or becomes too competitive for my unskilled ass) and trade it in while the tiv is still high. Then I'll pick it up again when it's < $20 and replay through everything and keep that copy for good.

It's a nice way to revisit something while keeping costs relatively low and usually the time in between the brand new $60 price and the < $20 price is about 6 months which is just about right for me.
The Assassin's Creed games are like a tortuous love affair for completionists like me. There is just so much shit in this game that getting 100% will take forever. Feathers, flags, glyphs, chests; courtesan, thief, and mercenary side missions; training the brotherhood; borgia towers; renovation; shop quests; I could go on.

It does solidify my opinion that Rome was planned and started but unfinished when AC2 shipped though, as even reusing as much as they did, it seems impossible to me that they could add so much shit into an entirely new area within a year. And that's leaving aside the multiplayer.
The only pain in the ass thing to get 100% on is the level 50 in multiplayer. I've gotten almost everything except that and bonuses (which should come with playing) in about 22 hours. It's much better than the 1st game. 1st game took me almost 35 hours to complete. 2nd game was around 26'ish. Not that bad for all the shit that needs to be collected. I do agree with you though. They just keep adding more shit into this damn game. I really don't know where they are pulling the shit out of. One thing I didn't do was the shop quests. Those were impossible unless you saved every single item you came across. In the start, I just sold those items because I didn't know what the hell they were used for and when shop quests were introduced (or I figured out how to do them), it was too late. I had sold so much shit that I couldn't do those quests. I even looted almost every person I killed looking for those items, but it was to no avail. I couldn't finish even one of them.

Level 11 at the moment, and I noticed that all people ever do is use the damn gun. It's pretty irritating.

Why chase after someone when you can shoot em from 30 feet away, eh?

Meh, after more playing, it isn't that bad. Brotherhood is a hell of a lot of fun, but whoo lawdy it can get frustrating. I feel like I might be missing something that others aren't, or maybe I just need to practice a lot more. Would anyone like to Live it up and play some multiplayer sometime? I'm sure it'd be a hell of a lot more fun actually playing with someone.

Any pointers? That is going to be the hardest achievement I think for me (have everything else except the level 50 achievement). Seems nearly impossible to get without boosting.

I think im putting this on ebay today. I have most MP and 2 regular achievements to get still, but i dont really care. One is to get the 10 kill streak, the other is to win the fights with the most money. Online achievements i could care less about getting.

I waaaaay overthought this, so I'm glad you asked!

try to set up profiles that'll help you with specific bonuses, focus on one and when you get it swap next time you die. for example:

profile 1 - poison / costume. at match start run to your target as fast as you can with costume enabled (so your pursuer might ignore you if seen) and try to poison them. if you get there before your costume wears off you can get your hidden bonus too. once you get killed...

profile 2 - smoke bomb / morph. head to a high traffic area (like the square in florence) and blend with morph to try to get lure / stun / escape. use the smoke bomb on your target to keep them stationary long enough for a focus bonus

try to keep in your head a checklist of the bonuses under your control: discreet, silent, incognito, acrobatic, aerial, lure, stun, escape, focus, hidden, poison. if you get one of each, that's 11 out of 15.

getting those last 4 is tough though since they require luck or sloppy opponents. alliance is best since the co-op bonuses add-up and it's easier to get one off bonuses like close call or double escape. in wanted you'll usually get at least a poacher and savior bonus leaving 2, so you can try to get midair with a gun or try for a drop kill or grounded. if you do the above in a wanted match you'll often end up in 1st place with 3 pursuers which really makes it difficult if you haven't finished the 11.

see? waaaaaaaaay too much thought. I'm actually a little ashamed. or a lot. whatever.

triple escape I just ran non-stop around manhunt matches and got it on like the 10th round (when my teammates started doing the same thing).

good luck, easily the most frustrating thing I've tried to do in a video game.

Isn't there an achievement?

Loving MP. Once I got into games with more people around my level (and not level 50s who are just dicking around and being assholes by staying on rooftops), the XP and fun just started piling on.

New patch coming out "soon" (MP + SP fixes), as well as another free DLC with a new mode + map. I'm thinking the patch is in Microsoft's hands, but there's no real guarantee. Another thing is, despite the slightly longer wait times in lobbies and such, I don't really experience lag. Occasionally I see myself, or an enemy, slide into an animation... but it's rare. I haven't seen anyone teleport around while moving or anything. I haven't missed an assassination because they, or I, was lagging.

Just beat the game. All I have to say is.

mindfuck.

I mean seriously. I'm gonna have to replay the end because I have no idea what the hell just happened. Would someone mind PMing me or explaining it in spoiler tags?

Also, how far in sync do you have to be to get all the Cristina missions? Thanks!
(and not level 50s who are just dicking around and being assholes by staying on rooftops)
Unfortunately it's not level specific. I've noticed there are 3 ways to play the game, you have stealthers, runners, and roofers. Now that I'm up to level 46 I'm up against a lot of level50 competition and unfortunately being max level doesn't mean that they don't play like a level 1. The key for me is to not let it get to me. Once I let roofers and runners get under my skin I quit paying attention to my surroundings give up easy kills.

Beat the game, weird ending. Curious about AC3.

Also level 30 now in MP, and enjoying it. If anyone else sees this and wants people to play with (the experience... in more than one way ... it's much better with friends and communication!), I only currently play with one other atm, and he's level 19 I believe. We play Manhunt mostly.

Loving Decoy, Charge and Throwing Knives. Had a couple absolute idiots that thought they were being pretty cool hanging onto the edges of buildings, or on rooftops... I run into one hanging on a wire, and he just sits there. I wait for my throwing knives to recharge while I'm under him (on the ground), nab him, and he drops helplessly in front of me. :bouncy:

I think I'll have to get used to Manhunt, as I only played one game of it, but I really wasn't having fun playing that. I'm sure it's a lot better playing it with others.

I was the same way when I first tried out the multiplayer. I first tried out wanted and hated it because it was just weird but after playing it for a bit I'm used to it and love playing manhunt.

I have beat all of the Christina missions and I was at about 45% synched. I've been doing every single side mission and haven't beaten the game so far.

I don't think you beat them all because I just finished them two days ago and I HAD to get to 75% for the last one to unlock. You get a new one every 15% aka 15%, 30%, 45%, 60%, 75%. After the 5th one it's over though.

Guess not then. I got an achievement for it and I thought that was it, but I don't remember doing 5.

I really love the multiplayer - but its sits waiting for abstergo agents for 20+ mins. Does anyone play this online? Add me if you do, I love it and I play like it should be played. Not like a retard. Find me at XBL : synchr0nicity

Added you.

There's a somewhat uncommon issue of "glitched" lobbies, sometimes. If you sit at the blueish tinted screen (not where it shows a picture of the map), and the number at the bottom goes from a fraction, to full, and varies without changing the background, then it's glitched. You should just back out and try again. You may run into the same lobby, just repeat.

Another notable symptom of a glitched lobby is that the computerized female voice doesn't say anything at all after a minute or two. It should, at the very least, say something like "Searching for Abstergo Agents." every minute or so.

There was a point where I was just waiting for a match while surfing the web, and after 2 hours it still hadn't gotten me into a game. A bit ridiculous.

I'd love to play this with you guys. I have to give Manhunt more of a chance, when I was playing I usually played Wanted. Gotta practice practice practice. I'll throw you all a friend request.

the wait times in lobbies are so bad! I've been waiting for 15 minutes and the game it put me in had 7 seconds left. 7! if anybody is on right now and wants to get a group going to actually play some add me up.

A new update for the game is out.

I haven't noticed any difference in MP. Now at lvl49 only around 20k more exp to go.

Anyone still play? I finally hit lvl50 the other day.

Animus 2.0 is now out with a new map (Pienza) and a new game mode (chest capture) to play.
I haven't played much of either the new map or mode, but from what I have I enjoy the map. I got into a chest game with like 1min left so I didn't get a feel for it.

I still haven't brought myself to play the multiplayer yet. I'm not sure why, I did the training but I got caught up with Enslaved, Batman: AA and soon Mass Effect 2. I have a feeling though that if I don't play now it's only going to get harder and harder to find full matches...

I beat the game last night. I didn't care for the ending.
You simply can't keep doing cliffhangers and such in video games. It doesn't work. It barely works in TV, but at least in TV you don't have to wait 1-2 years for your answers. This is the 3rd game they've done this for, and nothing has been answered. At all. The whole ending sequence was anti-climatic. At least in AC2, you had just done that Rodrigo fight, discovered all that crazy ancient astronaut crap, etc. When you returned as Desmond, you were on the run in an intense scene.

In Brotherhood, you're just doing Prince of Persia bullshit for 20 minutes trying to get to the Apple. By the time you get there, the alien is just spouting nonsense, you stab your girl, then the game ends. It's just tiring. They really should have explained more in this one, but they didn't.

I also HATE how you can't redo memories the first time to get 100% if you die or accidently screw up. You have to do the entire mission all over again. This is bullshit, becasue the missions are just extremely long. Also, some of the 100% ones are just ridiculous, especially at the end of the game; don't lose a health bar, don't kill anyone (when there's like 40 soldiers on your balls, and you have to be anonymous to beat the mission). Just....lame.

The annoying part about missions is that for many of them, if you're detected, you have to restart from the checkpoint. This literally makes no sense. Why can't I just quickly kill a solider that detected me? There should have been a timer included (say, 15 seconds) before I get desynchronized.

I find the combat to be more annoying too, because enemies dodge everything, and you have to use kick all the time to even kill them. Towards the end of the game I just called my assassins to do everything, because I was tired of the combat.

I still need to finish up the sidequests. Overall, I think I enjoyed AC2 more than Brotherhood.

Request sent. I'm not great, but I try to play like it should be played as well.

I'll throw you a friend request, Bootleg. I haven't played the game much at all lately, just haven't found any interest. I'll probably get back into it soon.

I really wish there was a way to smack someone who decides to sprint up and get 100 points on my contract as I'm stalking him. I usually walk up to them and throw a smokebomb (Which has led to them getting assassinated a few times, which is hilarious), but it's just not satisfying enough. What joy it'd be if I could just slap em in the face.

Just started playing today, got up to sequence 3 in single player, and liking it better than AC2 so far, which is probably one of my top 5 360 games. Also played a few multiplayer matches and really liked it, hopefully I can finish the single player by this friday so I can play multiplayer all weekend.

End up finally finishing this after starting it mid Jan (from backlog).

Ending spoilers:
I liked the ending. Gives you time to think until the next one. My guess prior to this game was Lucy was a templar. Signs + ending leads you to fully believe it now. Signs I am referring to are she would disappear from the animus room and footprints were red, "she" reference in Subject 16, the end scene, etc. I wonder who are the people that are helping Desmond.

As for the final animus scene, the fight was just so random. He gets arrested then somehow gets out, assembles a crazy army and completely destroys some random town we don't care about. I guess maybe the filler will be released as DLC later on. The fight itself was just boring. Like someone posted earlier in the thread, I wish it was just set up as a mission by sneaking in somewhere then either a stealth assassination on him or a quick fight (give him stats similiar to the regular boss you fight directly on).

As for the last sequence, I wish they toned down the platforming section. At that point, I felt it was wasted so I got bored. I felt the same boredom during the scene were they originally get to the Animus room in Montenegro.

Overall though great game. Really for the most part enjoyed it alot.

New DLC coming soon! Single player AND multiplayer!
Ubisoft has announced a new, massive-sounding DLC pack for its well-received manhunter, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. The pack, titled "The Da Vinci Disappearance," is centered around just that -- following the events of the single-player storyline, Ezio's helpful, crafty companion Leonardo Da Vinci is kidnapped by the cult of the Hermeticists, who hope to pick his brain to bend the world to their seedy will. Ezio will have to locate his stolen painting across two new areas while exercising two new, undetailed "gameplay features" in order to emancipate the renowned inventor from his captors.

The DLC also includes a metric ton of content for the title's multiplayer component, including four new characters: The Dama Rossa, the Knight, the Marquis and the Pariah. The game's roster of maps will be expanded with "Alhambra," a lush quarter of a Spanish city, providing hunters and huntees with a multileveled indoor and outdoor environment to slink through. Also, two new modes will be added: Escort, where two teams of four players must assassinate the opposing team's VIP while protecting their own; and Assassinate, a straightforward, ten minute round of Deathmatch. See ya, subtlety!

The pack will be released at the "beginning of March 2011," and will run shoppers 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360 and the equivalent $9.99 on PS3. Check out some screens of the new map and its violent inhabitants in the gallery below, or check out the trailer after the jump for a preview of the new single-player missions!

While the DLC sounds interesting (that seems like an acceptable amount of content for $10), I've lost interest in the game and the DLC won't renew it...

I just can't put up with entire lobbies using Templar Vision to make up for how terrible their perception and attention span are. (this is post-40's in level, at least)

beat the single player, the end level environment was pretty. and that other thing.

man, how do people get 3500 points in multiplayer!! i get like 4 kills a match and always miss my target.

this one time i was on a rope and saw my pursuer she came on the rope and i was waiting for a defense attack and she just walked through me killing me. in other chase. the character dropepd into hay, so did i, i waited for her to pop out and before i could assassinate i got hit by a smoke bomb and stunned. i was in the hay dammit.

some people are good at flanking but even when i see it i cant stop it. this guy dropped right in front of me and before the game even gave me the option to stun i was killed by him.

this compass doesn't like me. it was fully blue and telling me my target was in range, couldn't find her, when i did it was a civilian and my target was on the other side of the wall.

another time my pursuer was chasing me and JUMPED IN FRONT of me, i smile and before i could do anything boom he did a 180 and instakilled me.

i wish more poeple played and i wish i could play better, i so far i haven't done better than 7th.

Well timesplitt, I think you just summarized up the problems with AssCreed's MP. It is great, really innovative, but a good portion of the difficulty is fighting against the game system and not, unfortunately, other players skill.

But a more useful response.... Smoke Bomb > Attacker > Defender.

So on the DLC with the Da Vinci missions, after you beat them, does it drop you back in Rome so you can finish up any side quests left over, or does the game lock you out of Rome?
