It's frowned upon here, and I can tell you've been around long enough to know that. What you did was legal, it's just kind of shite, you haven't posted one other bid on this auction until the last second. It's the right thing to do to let someone who's bid on it all week have a say about it. But whatever, it's a free country.
 
I have to step in here and say that if Azu accepts Bvharris's bid that is completely fucked up. Ryusei did nothing wrong and outbid him. I know you're upsetbut there is nothing for Azu to sleep on, Ryusei won and should get the game. bvharris did spend a lot and defended the game till the end but this is what happens in a lowball in a format like this.

Yes, I agree. It's shit, but I don't deserve special treatment for being a nice guy and spending a lot of money. Plus, I'm not always nice as my pal neiname can attest.

If you want to take the Vulgarism root and have your cat pee on it, I think that would be okay though. :D
 
Stop quoting the rules that every single person quotes verbatim from someone elses lowball. Sniping is part of lowballs when they don't have a rolling end. Also, not liking something doesn't mean you can't do it.

I got Xenosaga III and VP2, which are the two I really wanted. I'm happy.

I'm also garnering valuable experience for my lowball.

My master plan is to spend so much in everyone else's lowballs that they'll feel beholden to me when I have mine. It's working so far, though I've been getting threatening e-mails from my bank account.

It will be fun to see how many items I've bought in lowballs I end up selling back, haha.

IMHO, someone posts a concrete end time, it's going to happen.

I see bv was really pissed, but I'm glad to see that he has chosen to let Ryusei's bid stand unchallenged.

As other's have said, it sucks, but sometimes it happens.

Damn I actually kind of sniped an item myself. I think that I posted in the last hour or so simply because that was when I had my break at work.

I was reading thread to see what happened last night and I think this could be a pretty good method to avoid snipers. You could even knock it down to 3 minute period instead of 5. You could say an auction ends at 12 but any items that had a bid at 11:58 or after would technically have a little more time. Once 3 minutes passes with no bids, item is closed. It's a win-win. Seller makes a little more coin (say $1 min per bid) and buyer is protected from a last second sniper. If it drags out another 30 mins, seller just made $10. Most of these things end late at night anyway so the seller could always check in the morning when the dust clears if need be. lol
 
I had another thought which occurred to me last night which I might try when I do my lowball. It's not so much to discourage snipers as to encourage people to bid early and often. I'm going to do a raffle for a bonus or two, and you get entries based on the number of different days that you bid on an item. Prizes can be things like extra games or free shipping. Just an idea to try to get lowballs shifted away from a flurry of last-minute bids.

I'm pretty positive that's a rolling end, actually. I've seen it done once before, but nobody really likes it, as sometimes it drags it out a bit more, but it would be extremely helpful for snipers, like you said.

Ditto for me. If Canadians have flat-rate boxes to the US, I'm fine with one. I'd prefer not to pay ~$27 in shipping if it can be avoided. :D

Here in America they give flat rate boxes for free at the post office, and then when you ship you pay the flat fee. You might want to call yours before you spend 2 bucks.
