I just ordered the white TNA logo shirt myself. :D
Great show so far... guyver before you posted that I was just thinking... Is Roode supposed to be like a Canadian Rude?
Rick Rude's birth name was Rood so it's probably Robert's real name.
Anyone else see a Russo Swerve coming?
With the "advisor" angle? Man, I fuckin' *hope* so. The hints alluding to Scott Steiner are just so fuckin' obvious that I hope it's anybody but Steiner. If it turns out to be Steiner, then it's clear that the guys writing TNA have no faith in their audience to interpret implicit hints, and that they more or less feel the need to have people wear their storylines on their sleeves (like those old 80's Ben Cooper costumes that had the fuckin' character names on the vinyl shirts, just in case you encountered the 2% of the population who didn't know what Darth fuckin' Vader looked like).

I hope it's a swerve. It better be a swerve, or else I'm calling TNA to let them know that I totally beat that pudding cup in an IQ test challenge, and that I deserve to be treated like someone with a fuckin' brain.

Then again, they overcooked the Sabin/Lynn angle with geritol and depends tonight, perhaps they really don't have any faith in us.

All that said, Impact was a good show tonight if you don't like wrestling matches. The storylines were all well furthered, everyone has a persona, everyone is treated as important, and the storylines made more sense than one average. I don't know where the hell they're going with Ron Killings, but I'm kinda amused that Tenay and West totally no-sold it after it aired.

I really like the fact that Cage got the best of everyone, they showed a lil' dissent b/w him and Tomko, D-Von cut a short interview that was intense, and I love everything LAX does. What I don't get is Jim Mitchell getting on a mic and exposing his "evil plan" to the world. If you plan on using and manipulating someone, you don't get on a mic on cable tv and tell the fuckin' audience. Wrestling writers need to find better avenues for getting this across to the audience. Their minds are more restricted to conveying this kind of information than the structure of a wrestling show really is. Jesus.
Omg Golderg!!!!!!

why do they keep fucking around??

are they just doing this to make money for nothing
?
Here's the question I have: obviously they're dropping these names to make you think they're coming into TNA. Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe make sense as "consultants" for Cage when facing Angle. What the hell does Goldberg have to do with anything related to Angle?

Oh, blah. I actually watched that entire rumble match tonight before Impact - and what a damned solid Rumble it was, from beginning to end. Goldberg was taken out not because of Kurt Angle, but because Lesnar interfered. Angle was peripheral to the whole thing, and unrelated to the angle they were pushing leading into WMXX.

You're gonna have to do better than that.

I KNOW... but its definitely something probably the only connection they can make to connect the two....

angle and lesnar though have a great history
Talk about some major history there between Kurt Angle and Yawnberg. ;)
They both went prematurely bald? Work with me people, I'm grasping at straws here.

That DVD came in the mail the other day, I've never seen it. All I know is Benoit went wire to wire in that match.

I also see Kane was taken out by Booker T that year too :whistle2:k interesting. I'm sure WWE Creative forgot that though.

I so can't wait for Angle vs Goldberg then in TNA in "Baldness Warfare In The Cage." Winner gets to remain bald while the loser has to restore their hair.

I don't follow your logic, but I like where your head's at. We need it: A loser must restore their hair match! Toss Stone Cold into the match and you've got a must-see ppv.

We also need to toss Bobby Lashley and Elix Skipper in there too. Actually on a second thought... just toss in Elix Skipper. Lashley would drop the match star rating down to one star tops. Between how green he is in the ring and how he looks like a damn Ninja Turtle when he smiles... well..... I think that would kill any good momentium the match would have otherwise.

Impact gets a million billion stars tonight. It was a great night of melodrama. We got attempted murder, a champion in an adult diaper, Lethal's awesome KOOPA armband, Don West saying things loudly, Mike Tenay saying things loudly AND making faces, EY getting the girl, AJ being a dick, Christian being a dick, and Angle being an idiot. Also, an X division match with some highspots for the first time in a long time, and a "pay per view quality main event" with a fuck finish. I got some laughs out of them further implying that Brock and Goldberg are coming to TNA, and I hope we get a VKM segment bashing WWE for misleading its audience to further make TNA Impact into a comedy program.

"After burning Sting with a fireball, Abyss and James Mitchell wanted more of Sting, but when they went to investigate, the only thing left of the icon was his trademark baseball bat!"
"THIS IS WHAT WE KNOW!"
"Back in my day, we had two-sided rings made out of sheep skin and testicles!"
"The X division showcase is next!"
"He can prove to the world, and most importantly, Chris Sabin, that he deserves to be in the X division".
"What could be better for an Impact main event? THAT TAKES ME BACK TO 2005!'
"Here comes Alex Shelley!.. and he spits in their faces!"
The X division champion is wearing Depends.
"THIS IS WHAT IMPACT IS ALL ABOUT!"
"Didya hear that? Christian Cage wants Tomko to take one for the team!"

LAX tries to murder someone...
"HELLO EVERYONE, I'M MIKE TENAY AND THIS IS DON WEST!"
"It's like Chicken Soup for the Soul, isn't it Joe-Joe Bear. It's all so confusing!"
"NO ONE KNOWS WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THIS SITUATION!"
It's nice to TNA to mislead people with the Brock and Goldberg text messages.
"What world? That world. On TV"
"It's Christy Hemme! OH HELL NO YOU'RE NOT!"

"Obviously burning him didn't work, so it's time to step the violence up!"
Tenay - UH OH!
Hemme - I WANT YOU TERMINATED!
Cornette - You wanna get even with him? Marry him! That'll teach him!
Cornette - You want a match? Fine, you've got it!
Hemme - WHO'S MY OPPONENT!?
Cornette - TO BE DETERMINED!
Kip - HAHAHAHA, TO BE DETERMINED!

"You wanna know WHAT'S UP!"
"I can't wait for Against All Odds, Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage!"
"You had to go and tell the world that he shot his father three times, and now he's worse than he was before I met him! What's wrong with you, Sting!?"
"I can do things the easy way and hand the tape of you beating and kidnapping me to the authorities, and that oughta be good for about 15 to 20 years, and it'll be a great influence for all the little Stingers!"
"He's wearing an Abyss mask, but is he wearing ABYSS' MASK! WHAT'S GOING ON!?"
"You wanna cross that line! THEN DO IT! GET IN MY RING!"
"Are you looking for a Pay-Per-View quality main event? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!"
"TEXT IT NOW!"
"Kurt Angle has left his dressing room and is heading towards the IMPACT ZONE!"
"To me, you're nothing more than a bold-faced liar!"
"WOW"

Ya I can think of a few places I'd love to toss Bobby Lashely into, a WWE ring does not jump out first.
I'm really loving what they're doing with AJ Styles.
And how. He's a great guy to hate, and convincingly conveys his arrogance. Then again, I hate him b/c he's a born again christian homophobe, so now it's cool to dog on him because he's more than "oh he's such a pretty boy and a fantastic wrestler."

I must have forgotten too...what's the significance of Booker tossing out Kane? It's a great Rumble match, but I can't say I've watched anything else on the disc. The disc also reminded me that I miss Evolution. Not because they were particularly good, or fun to watch...but I fuckin' *dig* Lemmy's bassline in the Evolution theme song.
They both went prematurely bald? Work with me people, I'm grasping at straws here.
They can start a group with poor, poor Sonjay Dutt. God *LAWD* shave that bald-ass head of yours already.

Been a fan of Lemmy since I saw him do Ace of Spades on the Young Ones. I thought it was great when Trips was going for that look too. Lemmy definitely has the bad-ass thing down.

As for the Kane/Booker thing... Kane tossed Booker out this year, and Booker re-entered and tossed Kane out setting up a new feud on SD. Am I the only one that thinks it is fucking retarded for someone who is either A. Already eliminated or B. Not even in the Rumble to eliminate someone? The WWE needs to do away with that policy, that and wrestlers winning a cage match by escaping the freakin' door.

On Booker and Kane:

They're wrestling at No Way out, and I'll be there live. :) between the feud with MVP and now this, it appears Kane came to Smackdown because HE HATES BLACK PEOPLE.

I thought Sabin was awesome tonight... Anyway, at first I was like ok it's definitely Steiner... but now, I'm not sure. I think they're pushing it onto us so hard to surprise us in the end... and I too, am purely going on wishful thinking. If it really is Steiner, I'll be pissed. Realistically... who could it be?
Jarrett? I'd imagine he'd be a face when he comes back. Rey-Rey? Possibly... RVD? Who knows when his contract expires? Joe? Doubtful, I don't think he's losing his face position any time soon. Bob Backlund? Doubtful, he should have been the one chosen for Eugene's character, no acting required. Eric Angle? Boring. Jericho? Maybe... tnawrestling.com just put a news story about him, but it involved music... plus I doubt they'd drop a hint like that about someone so over. Scott Hall? Perhaps.

It's either Steiner, Jarrett, or someone we least expect.

Actually... now that I think about it, it could be someone from management. Cornette heel turn?
The advisor is:

Scott Steiner. I read the spoilers when they first came out.
Damnit.. sometimes I just can't help but click those spoilers... I figured it would be Steiner. fuck you TNA.

Ok I'm not mad at you TNA... I was wrong, I miss you already... Please come back!

I don't think it's bad that Steiner is the adviser.

I'm looking forward to seeing Big Poppa Pump get all mean up'n tha iMPACT! Zone.

Oh I'm not bothered by Steiners return at all. I think his whole TNA run has been nothing but gold. I'm just pissed that they literally have to spell it out for us.

True, but I think they're doing good by balancing it with false swerves (Joe, Styles, etc.).

But, yeah; it's a little too obvious.

I might have to plan another iMPACT trip in the near future. Both times I went I didn't get to see Sting, plus I always have to work Thursday nights so I never get to see the show.

If I were able to, I'd go every week...

I wouldn't want to be "Hat Guy" or "Faith No More Guy", though. Or that kid with the towels.

I'd just like to see a local promotion that was worth going to.

I could feasibly go every week. I live literally 45 minutes away from there and don't have class on Monday nights, but I'm pretty lazy.

All the nerds stay in the pit or in the middle of the stands, both times I went we sat more towards the wrestler's entrances. Although a wrestling nerd did yell "just give it up already" back at me when I yelled "you screwed Bret~!" at Earl Hebner :O

Serious business.

fucking TAGS.

Sure, it's obvious. They beat me over the head with it and sent me a telegram via Western Union telling me; but goddammit it was *too* obvious, IMO, once they put that tshirt on Tomko last night. But y'all don't have to help out with beating me over the head with storylines.

Spoiler tags for something we've openly discussed over the past three weeks?

Come on...
Discussion and the actual revelation of it happening are two separate things.
Exactly.

I'm still basing the speculation off of what we've been talking about for weeks: "It's Scott Steiner", in many reworded forms and in repetition. I haven't read an TNA spoiler - or wrestling spoiler, for that matter - EVER.

The difference between what I said earlier, and what I said last week is that you read them under different levels of what has been revealed via-the grape vine.

fair enough. I misread your post, then.

EDIT: Brak's right, and some of the discussion has been so ambiguous about whether they're discussing the possibility of it being Steiner or it they're flagrantly discussing yet-to-happen events on TV that I kinda overreacted.

With it being so obvious - with some false Russo swerves being tossed in, now and then - I wouldn't mind being surprised with a prominent heel stable.

Christian, Steiner, Tomko, Styles (which we were teased with last night)... I think TNA could use something like that.

You know, I think one way to grab fans is to have someone win the title that you would think never would win it WWE. THey need a true Buster Douglas moment. No six month buildup to a match, no hype, no internet discussion of an angle and whether or not the guy is worthy of a title run.

For example, John Cena is champ. All of a sudden he has a match with Val Venis. Everyone already knows that Val will lose. But, they book the match so that Val gets a clean win and the title. Now something like this should be used sparringly, but I think it is necessary considering how obvious storylines and angles are to most fans now.

I can't think of anyone I want to see win the title like that more than Val Venis... I'm serious.

I have no idea why, but that post made me laugh harder than anything on this board in weeks. A shocked, wide-eyed Val just getting a clean win after some generic sit-out powerbomb that normally wouldn't keep Tommy Dreamer down as the crowd is sitting on their hands would be AWESOME.

Why doesn't ECW have a new GM yet? Why haven't they even mentioned the idea on TV? I thought all 3 shows were supposed to have a GM? I nominate Tommy Dreamer, he's not doing much else these days.
