Peter: Hi, my name is Peter. How may I help you?
Message.gif
Henry Lin: Hi, pete i was wondering why I was banned from the forums after 6 post that don't violate anything.
Message.gif
Peter: I'm not sure though I can look into this for you

Henry Lin: this is all my posts
Message.gif
Peter: consulting with the moderators now
Message.gif
Henry Lin: ok
Message.gif
Peter: In speaking with the moderators this was due to being underage as you must be 18 to post to the forums
Message.gif
Henry Lin: wow seriously? this is a casual game site and u have 2 be 18 2 posts for help or chat?
Message.gif
Peter: this is for liability issues
Message.gif
Henry Lin: no other game download site does this, steam, d2d, etc. does this, besides I payed for the games and if i want 2 chat about it i can't?
Message.gif
Peter: I'm asking to see if there's anything that can be done
Message.gif
Henry Lin: yep thanks

Peter: Apparently our legal department is pretty stringent on this sadly.

Though I know it doesn't help the matter at hand, for this inconvenience I've issued you a complimentary coupon code. You can use this for any game on our site, except Collector Editions.

Complimentary game coupon code:

xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx - you may want to copy/paste this to ensure that it is entered exactly how the system expects it

Coupons are easy to use and never expire. Select to buy a game and paste or enter the code (exactly as it appears) on the shopping cart page. For step by step instructions on using a coupon code please refer to this help article.

Using a Coupon Code

Peter: I completely understand the frustration as I can tell by your posts that you are mature enough and definitely not spamming or using the forums for reasons other than they are intended, but this rule was made for those that are not as responsible as you
Message.gif
Henry Lin: alright thanks for the code, but when i do turn 18 in 1.5 years ill be unbanned right?
Message.gif
Peter: that is correct
Message.gif
Henry Lin: ok thanks, i think i can get by for that long. :)

You have disconnected.
yep, big fish games require you to be 18 or older to post in their forums for "liability" reasons, such as potential hurt feelings and exposure to bad language. On the bright side I got a free coupon code for any game on their site. :bouncy:

It's ok Chewbacca, Big Fish Games are clearly women anyway if they ban you for that reason.

Haha yeah very true "HairyBear".....

So just lie about your age? Whenever I sign up on forums I use the date WWII ended as my b-day lol. There's zero reason to give up personal information like that and it's a security risk if the site ever gets hacked. I seriously doubt anyone is going to audit birth date anyways.

[quote name='SEH']While it's dumb you need to be 18 to go on their forums, it's your fault for not reading the TOS.[/QUOTE] yeah im sure everyone here reading the terms of service;), its longer than the bible.

That doesn't matter. It's there to be read as it clearly outlines rules and whatnot. Nobody to blame but yourself.

[quote name='georox']Doesn't CAG require you to be 18 to post?[/QUOTE]

Who cares, the TOS is too long. amirite?

[quote name='georox']Doesn't CAG require you to be 18 to post?[/QUOTE]
no i signed up with my real age (i always do) and i got in. but it would be funny if i got banned coz i posted this. lol. Only time i changed my age was on d2d when they won't let me buy Divinity II since it was rated M so I just went in and edited my age in account info to 26 and checked out normally. :D

If not, it should be implemented. Credit card authorization to post!

I don't see the need for a 18+ age rating on a forum.. There isn't really anything that will disturb a child on CAG. (That I know of.. )

That's a rather silly policy, at least you got something out of it... although I'm scratching my head over why a 16 year old would want to hang out on a casual games site in the first place. Do you have this same problem when trying to buy tickets to the Kenny G concert too? Go be 16, wait 10 years when you're broken and defeated to hang out and talk with other people about bejeweled.

13+, actually. There's a law regarding collection of personal info from people under 13, which means most forums just keep people under 13 out. (By which I mean the forum asks you for your age, and then believes you....)

.....

That's odd. I just checked bigfishgames, even to the point of creating an account, and just saw the standard 13+ stuff; *nothing* about 18+. That's doubly odd, as they're rather strict about language and staying family-friendly.
