So you just pre ordered recently? What does it say on your receipt? Let me know if you get it and if it's really first come first serve
Yes, yesterday around lunchtime is when I put i the PO. Since I'm buddies with the ASM, he said he'd going to tag one for me and that he knows I'd be coming in today. There was a "midnight" release party (9pm PST) last night at this store.

I don't know or can verify if it was first come first served as I didn't attend. I'm presuming he had enough such that he could offer and hold it for me. If your store didn't get any extras, then I'd presume it would be first come first served for those that didn't get in on the SB promo preorder.

This one manager I'm cool with, said he'd hold one for me too but he hasn't been working for the past 2 days. Should be there tomorrow though and I heard my gamestop will get a 2nd shipment hopefully extras. Did you get yours yet?

I did. The new guy there gave me a bit of a hard time as it appears that he saw that I ordered after the cutoff date. Fortunately, one of the old timers there (previous ASM) hassled him to give me one regardless. Once the new guy looked through the small pile of SBs (saw about a dozen), the current ASM did put my name on one. Good luck.

Finally saw the awesome manager and got 1. Said he asked if he could hold one for me and luckily they approved. He just handed it to me like I didn't even have to pay for the game. I paid it off anyway, plus I needed to give him a good survey.

Just preordered Battlefield hardline, figured why not. Play it for 4 or 5 days, trade it in. Roll that into MKX, play that for a week, trade it in. The question then becomes, do I keep it going with The Witcher and assume 3-4 weeks is enough time before Arkham Knight comes out? I wish those two games had release dates switched.

I don't think Witcher 3 is a 4 - 5 day game. It's a keeper. Least to me anway.

Yeah I'm saying 3-4 weeks for Witcher 3. That's my problem, AK will realistically be a game you play for a week and the only long term draw is collectibles or character skin challenge maps.

MKX is not the type of game you play for a week and trade it in. fighting games often require time and commitment to really enjoy. unless one wants to button mash through story mode. however, i don't think that will be an enjoyable experience. for me, its a keep. still not sold on the collector's edition tho, way too expensive for the extras.... not even a damn steel case for 150.

meh I played through the MK9 story mode (enjoyed it) and never touched it again, I like mortal kombat setting but have no real desire to play multiplayer more than a few times.  Its also the kind of game that releases a GOTY edition in 6 months with all the skins/characters//maps/etc unlocked so may as well play now and rebuy for $10 this black friday.

Good news for me, preordered Batman with Christmas money, just traded in The Order and NHL for $77, so I am pretty sure I will pre order witcher to keep later on.  Not to mention i still have GTA and have been taking my time with it and will eventually trade that too.  Good thing that after Batman we have a lul to play both and then trade in for my uncharted and other fall games.

What happens to Pre-Order DLC if you return the game? The order has been the only game I wasn't able to sell, so I had to return it.

Quick question, can you pay for a pre-order in full and use a movers coupon?  I ask because I do not have GCU and I have a movers coupon and gift cert I want to spend but they expire soon.  I was hoping to get Bloodborne,  I rarely get pre-orders, just Daemon/Dark Souls games so figured I would ask.  Thanks.

If you preorder online you can pay in full.

I'm not so sure you can apply a coupon to a preorder. I also don't remember if anyone has tried it. I typically only put down $5 and then pay off the rest at pick up and then I give them the mover's coupon.

nope.  it'll work on certain stuff like accessories but it online movers code coupon does not work on games, even LE/CEs

How does pre-ordering in-store work exactly? I assume it needs to be a game that has a pre-order card to bring up to a register, and then what? They scan it (after my membership info is taken) and are prompted to ask how much I want to put-down on it...? I don't know if I've ever seen those pre-order cards in Best Buy--but I've also never looked. Like most of us, I don't step into a store often and do most of my shopping online.

I have a $5 in-store only birthday code I need to use by the end of the month (and a million gift cards floating around), the only game I'm really looking forward to in the near-future is State of Decay:YOSE which doesn't come out until April.

Pretty much. There's a display on an endcap in the VG section with all the pre-order cards. The back of the cards have bar codes for all the consoles. So you go to checkout and just tell them for which console....and then tell them how much you're gonna put down ($5+).

So if there's no card, I think you can use the kiosk in the VG section, but I've never used it before. It's a touchscreen kiosk that you can lookup games for pre-order, and then I think it prints something out you take to the register. The one at the store here is super laggy and not calibrated correctly...so it's pretty annoying to use.

i just give them the sku# from the website. and the people at customer service should be able to pull it up

I went ahead and preordered the witcher 3. First preorder ever, hopefully it doesn't turn out like all the horror stories I heard about last year but im excited for the game and 38$ seems like a reasonable price

really bummed about Bloodborne not being included here - wtf!? Guess I'll be making my first Dell Purchase since I bought a refurbbed PS3 Fat back in 2008 lol. Dell gives out a $25 gift card!
is that $25 prepaid visa or gift card to dell?
Dell eGC.

I noticed The Witcher is sold out for XO. Do these games ever come back in stock? Can I preorder in store?
I thought you were talking about the special editions which regularly go out of stock, I was surprised to see the regular edition was gone. I gotta imagine the regular edition being "no longer offered" is just a glitch that they'll fix. The regular editions never sell out of preorders online as far as I know.

Dying Light is on sale for 50$ at Bestbuy so Elite plus people can get a price adjustment for 8$ + tax . If you used the 10$ off trade coupon you most likely won't get an adjustment .

yea but it might be due to the steel case the regular edition comes with when preordering. I remember years ago a gamestop worker told me only so many steel books get shipped to the store since it increases the weight on the shipment.

Has anyone been able to preorder in store lately? If I'm around I'm a try soon. Not in a huge rush and still not 100% if I want it. Never got into the Witcher games but the third looks amazing.

It's strange that on their (mobile) site, MK:X isn't listed as a game that comes with the $10 bonus...

As a new GCU and "my best buy" member, how difficult is it to reach elite status? In general, I absolutely hate buying anything from best buy since they overcharge immensely on even the most basic things (i.e. USB sticks, memory cards, fucking basic micro USB cables, HDMI cable, etc.) so I go anywhere else or online.

I can't imagine myself spending thousands of dollars in a year on just video games with GCU, are there any "tricks" or anything to reach elite status? I'd love to somehow get that, would talking to a manager or something work?
Sorry for going off on a tangent, I just keep reading this thread and keep seeing posts about elite status, sounds almost necessary in order to be a true CaG...

The BB credit card helps a lot with that. I got Elite, and didn't even notice I did.

So is the hardline deluxe edition worth the extra $10?
I heard it's $50 worth of content. Employee must've been exaggerating but it probably is worth the extra $10. The deluxe edition of dragon age aren't being sold at bestbuy stores anymore and I wonder if the same thing will happen to this.

They're probably confusing the deluxe edition for Battlefield Premium which is a $50 value. I'm pretty sure all you get is a few Battlepacks with custom skins.

yeah deluxe isn't worth shit, you get battlepacks out the ass just playing the game and there are usually bugs that let you rack up hundreds of battlepacks.  my PC version of BF4 has something like 900 gold battlepacks because you kept getting one just for clicking something a few months ago.

premium (TOTALLY different) gives you a season pass with all DLCs and that may be worth it, although honestly you'll find it way cheaper in a few months and it'll take that long or longer for DLCs to come out

trade ins count towards elite status as well

I know this has been asked a million times, but I've forgotten the answer and can't find other posts about it (at least in the short time I spent searching).  I want to pre-order an item that comes out later than the expiration date of my rewards cert.  Will I have any issues with this?  I believe rewards are like gift cards and the amount is deducted immediately instead of when it ships like a credit card purchase, but want to make sure.

as long as you use up the entire cert towards the PO, you should be fine.  Technically, you're paying up front during the PO using the cert as payment.  Even if you decide to later not keep the game, the cert amount/points should be returned to your account.

What do you mean by this statement? Can we not use multiple gift cards in one order now?
No, there used to be a somewhat glitch that you just buy gift cards using other gift cards and it would count towards elite, making reaching elite easy to do.

What do you mean by this statement? Can we not use multiple gift cards in one order now?
There was a glitch where, if you bought a gift card with multiple gift cards(combining gift cards), you would still get reward points, even though normally you don't get points on purchases with gift cards.

I only used it once before it got killed. :(
