has everyone used their $10 prepaid MC from the Xenoblade promo? I'm trying to order a bb gc and got an error that billing address didn't match. I then reentered and put my home phone # instead of cell. this time got:

  • We're sorry, but this transaction has been declined. If you continue to have this problem please contact customer support.

I tried at Amazon earlier this month but no go - issue with expiration date being under a month but seems other CAGs couldn't get it to work there either.

I just tried to get a gc at Walmart:

"Your payment couldn't be authorized. Please use a different payment method."

it seems some were able to get it to work at gyft.com - I hate gyft.com though as caused problems when I tried their signup promo before.
I always just use those little GCs to partial pay groceries because I can't ever get them to work for anything else.

Did you make one? Is it like target where you can add items after the "big day" and have a year to use them?
Not yet. All the email says is: "Save 10% on gifts you don't receive on your big day."

I might just combine it with the 20% off and $10 back on The Division if the beta convinces me to get it.

You can try buying an amazon GC too with it, thats what I do with visa/MC GCs I get and apply the balance to my amazon account.

So i have question guys, did anyone else pre-order the division when it was giving a 15 dollar GC? I did and I'd like to upgrade it to Gold edition but I don't want to lose that extra 5 dollar GC has anyone done this?

I preordered it during this, but I also have the same question as you. I also need to switch to the PC version too, since a bunch of my friends are gonna get it there who showed no interest in it before the beta lol.

Not looking good mirrors edge, if they don't add I don't think I'm going to pre-order, not really worth it to me,heck not really worth it for any game cause I have done got use to cheap games there is no going back, I'll wait to see if they give out a gift card with the first week or just wait for a sell, however a part of me still wants to buy day one to support it, love the first game and want to show this is a franchise I'm willing to buy, more sales= better chance at more games

I did the $15 deal, but I preordered the $100 copy up front

I would just take the $15 bonus copy and apply the extra cash toward the season pass. Think the gold just had an exclusive weapon and a skin or something.

You should be fine to just swap out the version you've preordered with the Gold version in-store after the game releases, but NOT if you place another preorder for the Gold version.

On the other hand, you might be able to convince a mod on Best Buy's forum to give you the extra $5 if you DO submit a second preorder for the Gold version if you explain yourself, but that could be a hassle.

The benefit is that the GCU discount would also apply to the SP since it's bundled with the game.

They usually only do $10 certs for the fall games, Madden usually is the first one of the season.
not to go all "actually" on you, but...this isn't quite right. Games are clustered around the fall, but that's when more games release. Dying Light, Witcher, Evolve, all had $10 certs (plus a few others I didn't buy). I'm hoping the deals are coming just not announced yet, but this time last year, alot of the games for the calendar year were, well, on the calendar (including the fall releases).

Yeah, it is pretty odd now that we're so close to some of the big releases of the first half of the year (Far Cry, PVZ GW 2, etc) and no sign of them on the promo.  I hope BB still puts some games up but they are running out of time.

I don't find it odd.  Neither of those two titles are all that large.  The Division is the first big multi-platform title and its included.  I don't see another until May hits.  In the past they have been known to add a title or two prior to the big announcement around E3 time.  My guess they will add Doom and Mirror's Edge in a month or so.

Sony and Nintendo first party really never participates so don't expect Uncharted or Zelda to appear.

The Division is only part of the promo because it was originally supposed to release last fall and Best Buy added it at E3.

I hope they add more, with BB terrible customer service/nightmarish ordering process, the only thing keeping me spending my money there are these promos. Especially with Amazon matching the 20% off.

For what it's worth, two different Best Buy's have told me the $10 reward certificate is done. While I usually never believe anything their employees say, they may be right. It's odd the games you mentioned have none.

Same here. My GCU expired last week and I'm in no rush to renew. I just preordered Plants vs Zombies GW2 from Amazon, since it came out to the same price with GCU.

Yeah, with my Elite+ membership expiring sometime this month, I'm not as eager to keep shopping at Best Buy aside from the occasional sale where GCU applies on games released more than 2 weeks ago (e.g., Black Friday), which Amazon's 20% discount doesn't include.

Is not that much of a savings because you're being charged 8% tax on the season pass. So a 12% savings off $40, about $5. And you risk Best Buy screwing up your $15 in points coming back.

Nope.

After GCU it's a 13.6% savings assuming an 8% tax rate.

I was wondering about that myself. I went to preorder PvZ GW2 and I was surprised that best buy wasn't offering much incentive. I'll probably just order it from Amazon as well.

To be honest, how much profit are they really making off the $10 certificate promo? Yes, they boost sales numbers, but they are only making $38 on a new $60 product. And then when a lot of those sales are then traded back in for $35-40, they're basically renting new games for free (or in some cases, paying out money) to a lot of customers.

I love the $10 certificates but I don't think they're good business. And I know a lot of ppl are down on GCU, but I still like their 20% over Amazon's (no time restrictions - all games is huge for me) and their rewards program really adds to the savings if you buy and sell all your games there. Not to mention its $30 for 2-years while Prime is $200 for 2-years.

You didn't spend $3,500 last year? Are you going to be elite for 2016.

You pay tax on the SP regardless of where you buy it (Best Buy or XBL). Also, a little math (leaving out the tax):

Regular edition from Best Buy w/GCU + SP from any source with no discount --> $48 + $40 = $88

Gold edition from Best Buy w/GCU --> $80

So yes, you save $8 in addition to what you save on the game ($20 total), so since this is CAG it's a worthwhile savings.

Yup... I agree with everything you said. It was great for us, but couldn't have helped the company from a profit standpoint. I think Gamestop would benefit from having the 20% off new purchases and increasing the cost of PUR Pro. When I go into Gamestop, I always think to myself "wow... these people look like they belong here". Not in a bad way, just in a super smash brothers backpack and legend of zelda keychain sort of way. I can see people spending the money they save on a game on various products in their store

I'm only going to be elite next year, but I'm going to keep doing preorders at bb instead of amazon because the 30 day pm window is still more than amazon offers.
Yep same. I unfortunately couldn't reach + so my streak ends at 2. All I use is gift cards so I can only hit the mark if I can get enough trade ins in which I couldn't. Them ending the gift card consolidating thing made it even harder also. If only purchases with gift card counted towards the bar then I'd be + :(

I barely made it over $1500 spent last year but I retained elite plus status instead of going down a notch to elite which was a nice surprise.

I spent (including trades) $9,000 last year. Help me!

About $2,500 was my parents buying a 4K TV and a few appliances last year.

Off to a start of $400 this year.

I'd spend even more than that if I was single lol. There comes a point when the purchases are just not worth the conversation with the wife

elite+ carries over to february I believe from last year, so may have to wait until march to see if you "truly" made e+ for this year.

but yeah it makes sense BBY phasing out stuff like the $10 program, its gotta be a lot of overhead for virtually no real benefit to them.  It wouldn't surprise me if they got out of the trade in business too this year, they are quite terrible at it and I have to imagine its a money loss for them getting stuck with a ton of inventory that depreciates faster than they can move it.

I haven't made a single best buy purchase now in almost 2 months, or trade in.  slow game release time for sure, but it just doesn't feel like there is anything to buy.  I have the BBY credit card though and put a lot of my bills on it, so making $3500/yr is easy peasy.

That's where our numbers differ. Californians don't pay tax on digital. So I'm saving $3.20 on tax there.

Also, I'm getting back the extra $5 from Best Buy because I ordered before that promo date ($15 in certs total) so it's about the same.

Best Buy makes less than a dollar when they sell a new game for $48 so unless the publisher is reimbursing them for the certificate amount then they are losing money to keep you coming back.

I'm not saying its sticking around but I haven't seen any news internally that the program is going away. Any employee who says otherwise is somehow more informed than me or is just making stuff up.

LOL, yes i am really going to pay gamestop $30 for 20% off for their opened "new" games

Where's Uncharted? That's a big game.
