I don't understand why everyone is saying Battlefborn is nothing like Borderlands like it is a bad thing.

This is NOT Borderlands, it's by Gearbox, that's it. Sure the art style is somewhat similar, but I consider it to be more akin to Ratchet and Clank. This is a FPS MOBA. This is not an RPG in any form. I for one am having a blast playing it in the beta and already put $5 down. I am not 100% sold on it but I figured I would put $5 down and make my mind up closer to release.

I am fine with people disliking the beta or not wanting the game, but a lot of the reasons seem to be based on a misunderstanding of what the game is trying to be.
We know what it is; we just don't like it.

I was in closed beta for Battleborn on XB1 and it just felt raw. more like an alpha. I had no idea what the heck was going on. Kind of like Paladins beta on PC 5 months ago.

Meanwhile I got in on an Overwatch weekend and my daughter got bit by the PVP bug and I had to set her up with her own desktop in preparation for it.

We know what it is; we just don't like it.
Then I guess you misread my post.

I clearly state that anyone can dislike the game, but I was referring to the people saying it isn't like Borderlands and that disappointed them. That is like being upset that Uncharted wasn't like Jak & Daxter. Same studio sure, but no where did they claim them to be similar.

Okay.

Aw crap I didn't realize this either. Thanks!
You're welcome! I should clarify that the DOOM Beta is at least on PS4. I'm not sure about Xbox One.

if that''s the case, why even pay for battleborn when there are better moba's in the wild, free of charges. i don't play a moba but from observations i'm sure LOL and Dota are better games and more well balance.

i'm thinking this game will be the downfall of randy pitchford for giving us that shitty alien game (somewhere out there, i'm thinking jim sterling is lol...). don't mess with karma.

It's newer, prettier, first person, not over saturated with people that already know all the ins and outs of it, different objectives, a single player campaign, it's on console, it has online coop campaign missions or you can play single player.

huh? what? said descriptions can apply to any new/newer release games, even to the likes of cod/ac/madden. 2016 COD: Space Combat, prettier, newer, more maps, great for people with previous experience, single, multi, coop campaign, etc.....

Except this isn't a fps it's a moba. There are valid reasons to want this game and there are also valid reasons to not want the game.

Besides overwatch which won't have a single player there is nothing else like this game for consoles.

I liked it, was fun enough to keep redoing the same two missions to learn the character and to play off other people's choice in character. The random dialog has the similar Borderlands wit to it that kept me entertained. Isic's cheerful robotic voice while it talks shit to Geoff never gets old to me. For some reason the fact that they censor it makes it even more entertaining...I'm weird. There is enough of a progression that makes me want to continue playing it to unlock different characters and then play them to learn their game mechanics. I've been told there are about 15 co-op missions and if it's anything like the two campaign missions then they'll run about 30-45 minutes each run.

Not a fan of the jumping mechanics nor the fact that everyone has to "ready up" before a mini boss/boss fight. Definitely play with friends...or folks with a mic.

Probably jump in some PVP later to give it a go but yeah this game will capture my interest for at least a week or so before Uncharted 4 comes out.

If you enjoy the PVP but don't want to spend money on a game just play Smite.

The only other similar game to Battleborn that I've played is Smite.  From the beta, I didn't see any reason why Battleborn should be a $60 game.  Sure, the graphics, audio, maps, skills, etc. are different, but it plays just like Smite.  Why wouldn't I just play Smite, which is free?

The only positive thing my friends and I liked about Battleborn was that all your powers recharged over time, whereas in Smite you have to gain mana back via consumables or returning to your base.  In that respect, Battleborn is a bit more fast-paced.

I'm not a die-hard MOBA player so I'm sure there are other nuances that I'm missing, but as a casual player, I didn't see anything amazing or unique that really stood out.  No buy from me.

Battleborn beta is good. It's a MOBA. If you hate MOBAs, you will hate it.
If you like games with smooth challenging gameplay, good audio and visual cues, and lots of fun, then you will hate battleborn. I cant believe how bad it was even as a beta. Compare to the blackops3 beta. If they release it in its current form, without some serious redesign and polishing, it will fail hard.

Lol that didn't turn out how I expected it to after the first couple of words

OT?

Care to explain the Carrot King comment to me?
OT = Off Topic, as in nothing (or tenuously little) to do with the subject of the thread.

There is a character on CAG that likes to reply to posts with, "OK." I figured you might know him. :)

I can see why PC players would have no interest in Battleborn, it doesn't need you to go buy a new $500 video card so I get it. However, I've been playing the beta on console and enjoying it. It's exactly what I expected going in, a cross between FPS and MOBA with the Borderlands humor. Anyone whom likes to take advantage of these $10 Best Buy gift cards and a console, you should ignore all the Debbie downers and at least give it a shot while the free beta is live. My only complaint is that PS4 players are getting the special treatment, I just hope that doesn't mean Xbox gets delayed patches and treated like the younger brother.

I'm always looking for things to play coop on.

I am also enjoying the beta more then any other "FPS" I've played because it doesn't feel like the usual run and gun game. There takes planning and teamwork to win. I am a bit on the fence due to others getting it and/or it going on sale quickly. But I am heavily considering getting it, the other thing is UC4 coming out so soon will have most of my attention so i might just want for a sale on Battleborn...but not sure.

So I've played both the Battleborn and Doom Beta and

Battleborn gets a yay

Doom gets a nay

I like shooter games and while Doom does bring some nostalgia from it's older games, it just doesn't bring enough to possible convince myself to buy it on release date let alone justify the $40 DLC pack. I'll might pick it up down the line to play the campaign and the map editor it's suppose to have but not even the $10 RZ cert is gonna be enough for me to pick it up when it first releases.

In the mean time I think I'll enjoy the Doom beta for the weekend for some PVP saltiness.

So it looks like all the Lego Awakening are part of the $10 promo. If you have GCU, you can get the 3DS version for $24, get a free mini lego set, and get a $10 reward certificate... I usually wait for the 3DS ones to drop to $10, but maybe I'll get this one right away.

For whatever reason my GCU discount isnt showing when I add Overwatch or any game in my cart.

Only shows $48 when I add another 2 year GCU membership in the cart as well.

Strange since my GCU membership doesn't end until Nov of this year.

If you preorder more than one copy of a game, do you get a $10 certificate for each?
No. One per game per account

From the op:

Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a qualifying game and get multiple awards?
There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy member per game title

Yup, tried doing that on Safari, Chrome, and BB app on my iPhone.

Is there any difference between preordering a game and buying a new game?

When I click on Overwatch I'm not seeing any deals on its page. Just price match guaranteed and free shipping.

Yea I'm not preordering till they add it to the actual Overwatch page.

Also kinda waiting to see if pre-ordering Overwatch at BB gets you the early beta access in May. Otherwise I probably would get the digital version without the goodies.

My worry with Overwatch on Xbox is that it's not free to play like Smite so the community might be smaller and it's only multiplayer. With Battleborn if the multiplayer community is limited they have a campaign and couch coop I can do with my kids and wife... Still debating.

Way more competition on consoles though (Halo 5, Black Ops 3, Battlefront, R6 Siege) are all still highly popular.

Heard R6 Siege and Battlefront basically dead on PC.

Overwatch will be a massive success. Consoles is just more sales but its PC that will be the user base.

PC has counter strike...that game is huge, probably bigger then CoD in terms of long time and active players in the long term.

Consoles have never had a solid moba and yes fps are huge on consoles but just because it has other shooters to compete with doesn't mean anything because PC has the same situation.

Is the one per title, one per title or one per title per version? Can I get the 3DS and the Wii U Force awakens and get two $10 certificates?
