I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

I went to 2 different BB's on Long Island, NY and neither of them had any games discounted. They had many that were on the list but at regular price. It was a real bummer.

I just got back from the BB in Dublin, OH and they had nothing.

Any central Ohio CAGers have any luck at the other BBs? I'll probably check them out but would love to save the trip if they've got nothing.

I called both Albuquerque Best Buys and they said people had been calling all day but they had nothing clearanced, which I completely believe because the BB's and CC's here NEVER have any of the good deals going on....oh well.
 
Man, there was nothing at the Westland, MI BB, and the one in Novi only had Narc and .killswitch for $9.99 each before the $5 off coupon. Pretty dissapointed by this deal. :( I'm the most unlucky guy in the world. I haven't gotten any deals off of here except GameRush things. I guess it's pretty cool that you guys introduced me to GR, thanks for that at least. :D

A clearance like this is meant to clean out odds and ends at stores and the wherehouses. For the most part stores will not have very many of the titles. Certainly there is some variation. One store will have nothing to begin with, while another will have 8 of this 5 of that 4 of another (Those rare though).

As far as the price variation goes, the original post was based on a Best Buy internal list, not an advertised list. By the time Best Buy corporate actually dropped prices this morning, they apparently decided not drop all of them as dramatically as originally planned.

A big thank you to the OP for the list, but we have to remember that with clearances like this, especially ones with advance notice, we have to take what we can get.


P.S. BestBuy knows Cheapass and other sites exists. Makes you wonder......did they plan on that advance list being linked?

yea i got the harvest moons confused as well.... did the game ever come back in stock online cause i know it was SOLD Out yesterday online.... I doubt im getting anything online I still havent got any Shipping emails and that includes stuff that i ordered Sunday...

I've never found much of anything in the Irving area. And they were charging 9.99 for the 4.99 listed games, like I said earlier.
 
Picked up MLB 2005, Top Gun Combat Zones and Tron 2.o (Xbox) for $11. Tomorrow I'm taking the MLB back and purchasing another copy using the $5 off coupon, so $5.50 for three games not bad. The following is what was at my store:

Went to the Roseville MN BB around lunchtime. The only GC game I saw was Fairly Odd Parents ($9.99). Otherwise, no other GC titles were present.
 
I noticed on the morning paperwork at the Best Buy I work at that all the games going on sale except for the .99 ones were actually $5 higher across the board than what the original list said. I think that was company wide by the sound of it. Anybody find anything besides the .99 and PSX games that weren't upped $5?

There were literally like 15 copies at the Best Buy I got back from an hour ago.

If anyone happens to have Paper Mario or Silent Hill 4 on the Xbox, we can work something out.

Arrived at Pasadena/Arcadia BB at 9:40am. Waited in my car for 10 minutes playing burnout and listening to Kevin and Bean. We I got to the door I was the only person their for the sale, talked to some dude he just wanted to get his walkman fixed. Then met a guy who was from slickdeals, he wanted Mr. Driller. More people showed up right when it opened. I knew one of them had to have been a CAG. If you were their and saw a tall mexican dude with a beard, that was me.

Anyway the BB didn't really have anything this is what they had from what I saw.

10+ silent hill 4 ( I bought one and sold it to my boss)
1 catwoman PS2 that some dude had
5+ urbz GBA
1 SRS Xbox

Funny thing is right when it opened everyone went to the GC section to most likely get the PM for 9.99

Overall it was fun to go and try to treasure hunt, but I came up empty.

If anyone has an extra Zoo Keeper, please PM me.
 
Went to the Best Buy in Reading, Pa and they had nothing. I called the one in Wilkes Barre, Pa and they said they don't have any games on clearance. If anyone lives near Wilkes Barre, please let me know if you found any.
 
I went to two different BB's in my area. The first one had only 6 games that were off the list available and each were 9.99. The second BB I went to had NO games on the list available. This was in the Houston area.
 
Well I thought this sale was going to be a bust since all the titles I wanted at bestbuy.com were out of stock and when I went to the Best Buy in tricounty, OH, I found zippola. Luckily, I was able to score Paper Mario at the new Best Buy off by pass 4 . This was the main title I wanted so I'm a happy gamer. heh heh.

Well, for once I'm dissapointed with a sale. I was shut out at 3 different bestbuys. Must be a records. Guides don't even go like that. So if anyone want's to help a fellow cag out, I'm really looking for:

i arrived at my local bb right at opening, looked around for a handful of games i wanted, and they had zilch. right after realizing that they didn't have anything i wanted, i noticed the dreaded hoarder. him and his toothless girlfriend were going through their list grabbing every single copy of every single game that was on sale. slime.
ah well, my mom who lives in a different city scored me a $9.99 copy of otogi 2 at her local bb, so i guess i can't complain too much.

Some games just rang up at 9.99 instead of 4.99, but that was at all the BBs.
 
I had to go back to Best buy to pick up something. Lucky me, right. Anyhow, Montgomery County, Maryland CAGers should be pleasantly surprised to find out that some of the stock was refilled. I don't know if they had a stash somewhere else and put them up on the shelves or what. Nothing special, but some of the average games on the list. So Marylanders head out to Germantown and Gaithersburg....Don't know about Rockville. It may be too late now, though for the two that I mentioned.

Yea, I got there around 10:30 and was truly surprised at the number of people there, lists in hand. I scored a few I was looking for, but nothing major (I think a misplaced Bloodrayne 2 (ps2) was my best find). I will say that at least one person there already was very polite. I asked him if I was just too late or if they didn't have anything to begin with, and he told me he managed to at least grab a FF: Dawn of Souls that was stuck behind some other games (somehow, I think these misplaced games really weren't...). He later came back up to me & told me that some of the games weren't ringing up at the right price, so to make sure I had them check the prices. He also offered me his list, which I declined because I had one in my pocket. So at least one M'gomery gamer is polite, and I scored a few minor games. Not a bad morning I suppose. :)

Checked out the my local BB, wiped clean, except for 2 Taiko Drumasters, sitting all alone, for $20. I was only going to take 1, but since no one left me anything, I took both :)
 
I was going to edit my other post to reflect this... but now I can't find it in the midst of this thread insantiy!

I hit North CO Springs BB, even though I said I wouldn't... website said they had a copy of Shaman Kings for 4.99, so I did In Store pick up, and they actually had it when I got there(surprise!). Had a guy price check a few GBA games, nothing on sale... got excuses like they were different versions (Monopoly on GBA?) and the website was sold out (so??)... bottom line, they won't PM the site.

But I did get the copy of Shaman Kings... also a copy of Super Monkey Ball Jr. for 9.99... which rang up for $15 and was apparently tagged wrong... they said the tag was for a different game... but that is what happens when all the tag says is "GBA $9.99 End Cap Shipper"... maybe corporate should look into that :p

On the way out, I saw a clearance table with some of the mediocre stuff... mostly for X Box (which I don't have), and the Shellshocked Nam game on PS2...

We didn't have much here to begin with, so I doubt we were hit by hoarders... but seems like a lot of the stores were. I hope all the games they got drop drastically in value and they end up losing money ;P People like that are a large part of what makes the world a crappy place to be... Yes... I hope you're all reading this now. You're arrogant, selfish, rude, and such crappy manners will turn around and bite you in the... butt in the end. An EB POX (or 2 or 3 or 1000) upon you!

And to the guy that gave the mom a copy of PM2 at cost for her kids... I salute you! ;)
 
Checked out my local BB, wiped clean, except for 2 Taiko Drum Masters, sitting all alone, for $20. I was only going to take 1, but since no one left me anything, I took both :)
