LOL. So my RE ORC is "backordered" even though I placed my order right when it went up when it was still free shippng. I bet they're punishing the people with free shipping since I noticed they changed that later.
Same here. So I called bestbuy and they said it was a glitch in the system. So they redid my order and it went through. Still no shipping info yet

Thinking of that PS3 controller. Is it horribad? User reviews seem to suggest so, but even the few good reviews had many thumb down votes on them.
hey if say a deal of the day is low in quantity in stores, and say you do a in store pick up, and they dont get to it before they sell out...........can you revert it to shipped?
That should not happen since they pick the store pick ups before they open. I always seem to get my ready for pick up emails before the store opens so I can't imagine you would have an issue.

Interestingly enough, when I check my current order status it now says "In Process" and not Backordered like the email suggests. Definitely sounds like a glitch, but still pretty lame others orders have shipped before mine when I placed it right when it went up on sale.

your order will say 'in process' until it's shipped, even if its backordered. if u paid with cc then your order completion is delayed because they have to wait and get cc payment approval. w/ paypal the payment goes thru immediately hence why paypal orders seemingly get processed/shipped first.

I was able to get the darkness 2 last time when it went on sale for $12 I ordered around 2 p.m. online for delivery. It went through and shipped just fine. But now that I order when the deal launches it glitches me.

Okay. I just wont order with CC again. If for some reason it gets canceled, I'm view it as a divine intervention to keep me away from a shoddy game. xD
That's the thing though. Even with the trade-ins now counting towards the $2500, I spent or traded in nowhere near that amount total at BB in a year and I still got it.....on TWO accounts no less.

I had a relatively inactive RZ/buying account that I signed up for on BB.com solely for buying stuff online from them and then my normal RZ account for in store purchases. The main one is linked to my Gamer's Club Unlocked. Like I said, BOTH of them received the RZ silver status for some reason. I even received a new RZ card for the silver status for one of the accounts.
I'm a silver rewards now but I earned it(60 inch plasma bought in Feb. with geek squad install, extras, plus of course...lots of games purchased too). However, in 2010 I got a silver status that I def did not earn, just like you IATCG. I saw somewhere on the BB community forums that standard reward zone members get bumped into silver status for a year so they can get a taste of it. It's purely luck of the draw, though-randomly selected accounts by BB's computer system. Made sense to me, as I was pushed back down to standard reward zone in 2011. I'm assuming that both of your silver accounts have only been so for less than a year. If not, then I have no explanation...

3rd party controllers mostly suck. i miss my wavebirds for gamecube tho. those were great. my kids let the dog eat them tho. there goes 4 pristine wavebirds. oh wellz.

I payed with a gift card, and the e-mail they sent stated that my game is backordered..... am i screwed ?

I received silver status without getting anywhere near the $2500 mark(purchases, trades, etc). My silver was renewed again this year even though I still haven't spent anywhere near that limit. Best Buy works in mysterious ways.

Wavebirds were third party?
In my opinion that controller is a waste of $10 first party controllers are generally always better and not to mention can be had for fairly cheap.
Define fairly cheap. Folks on here tend to think anything over $30 for an official controller is outrageous. But if you have a reliable and consistent source of 100% official controllers for around that or cheaper, then please make a thread noting where to get them. You would have a lot of very grateful CAG's thanking you for doing so.

But outside of Black Friday or those clearanced controller/game bundles(Uncharted Dual Pack/Dual Shock 3 @ Target for $30-40, the controller packs that were clearanced at Kmart) are the only places to get cheaper controllers usually.

With the number of trades I was doing for a while, I imagine that some of those dollars ended up pushing me towards the total. Not to mention all of the gift card credit I used from the trades, if that counts towards the total as well.

Either way, I'm not gonna question it since I'm ok with getting free standard shipping on whatever.;) It beats paying whatever the usual shipping rate is for them.

Damn. I woulda been like 'bad dog' and put those things up someplace high, especially with what those things get on the open market.
I'm surprised this hasn't sold out. Go figure.
Even though I bought one, I have very, very low expectation for this controller. Mainly because it's Mad Catz.
I don't expect it to last more than a few weeks. If it does than great.
$10 is pocket change for me, but I wouldn't pay more than $10 for this controller.

I only bought it for when my son's friends come over to play game.

Silent hill downPour has some pretty mediocre reviews. I'm a huge fan of survival horror but should I spend $20 on this game when it is just going to sit in my backlog unplayed for months?

If you're a fan of Silent Hill at all, I would buy it. While the game is pretty mediocre I had some good times with it. I thought the story was pretty interesting - just don't expect amazing gameplay.

While I'm not bashing those of you who are, I'm glad I was never one of the RE and SH series elitists who "condemn" the later titles as failures because they don't live up to what the series "should" be.

While I played SH2 and RE3 on PS2 and loved them, I still found RE5 and SH Homecoming to be immensely fun games and one I enjoyed getting 1000/1000 in.

I can only assume Downpour and RE6 will be just as good. And hell, Downpour is only $20 (gonna be $5 for me after gift cards..); I spend that on a movie night for me and my gf...and that's most of the time not even worth it.

I'm in, despite reviews.

I was looking forward to Downpour having a sale like this for awhile now.I heard they got the atomsphere down which Homecoming clearly lacked. The combat is bad again from what I heard, but combat was never supposed to be a big gameplay element to the series.

This is why I never listen to the opinions of "HUGE OMGZ FANS" of anything. They have all sorts of baggage when it comes to judging games.

Huge Metroid fans hate Metroid Other M but I thoroughly enjoyed it (except the silly cut scenes) because I wasn't all hung up on what I thought a metroid game should be.

I wish more fans thought like this. People are complaining about the unreleased Book of Memories game just because it's something different.

While I do miss classic survival horror in Resident Evil, I loved the actionoriented ones as well and am really looking forward to 6.

I bought Downpour for $60 at launch and I thought it was fantastic. Sure the combat is really bad, but who buys these kinds of games for the combat? Not to mention the fact that the other Silent Hill's didn't have fantastic control schemes either (that being said movement and exploration in Downpour is intuitive and enjoyable).

If you're a fan of the genre at all and don't hold every horror game up to the expectations of Silent Hill 2; Downpour is a respectable entry and a great horror game.

Something about that frenetic gameplay just made the game for me. :D

I don't see why people handwave crappy combat so easily because "It's survival horror." or "It's an RPG."

It's a video game. If you are not walking or talking, odds are you are engaged in combat of some sort. Why would you so easily handwave off the largest portion of the gameplay being terrible as somehow acceptable?

I mean, geez, Lone Survivor got enemy encounters right. Even Homecoming's combat was pretty good.

i heard it is the most non-linear. especially from creating a trophy guide for it, seems like lots of side-missions and missable trophies, especially for a silent hill title.
that being said, i haven't played it at all tho. plan on picking it up for dotd tho if 1 of the 2 copies is still available when it goes live.
how linear is downpour?
its not at all really. the first hour or so a lil, but once u reach the town its urs to explore as u wish. best part of the game is making ur way from place to place in the town looking for stuff solving puzzles and such the last few levels go back to a slightly linear manner, but for the most part its wide open

I think the main reasons are because these aren't the type of games people are looking for good combat. For example, people don't buy horror games to have good gunplay/combat,they play them for the scares and atmosphere,to get creeped out..and sometimes they even have a great story to go along with it.

Same can be said about RPGs. I think most people play them for story, character development, stats and trying to find the best gear. Once you focus on all those things,it really pushs combat down the list of importance.

While Homecoming had good combat, the horror elements weren't there. While I agree combat should be good, surival horror games should be more about making you feel defenseless, and not some super human. The Siren series got that feel down right.

When SH goes live, I'm going to buy it and play it. What else are you going to do with all the BB trade credit, look at it? Might as well turn it into some entertainment value.

somewhat agree. homecoming felt creepy more so than scary, but man, i still have yet to even open the case to my copy of siren:new translation again since playing it once and being scared to the point of physically trembling.
not looking forward to playing it again anytime soon but refuse to let it go lol.

Hahaah. I know most people like to explore but I dont have time for that. I like linear games. Or at least games that can be linear with the option to explore. Which is what I think big perm and velo are saying.

Like Bioshock.

I don't have time to ride around for 4 hours looking for a horse.

I really like the linear aspect of MP3 right now. I just want to kill shit.

There isn't any sort of Best Buy exclusive for Silent Hill, is there? If not, I'm just going to have it shipped to my house.

use paypal instead of cc, and save the gc for in store purchases/non dotd's.
My controllers haven't shipped yet. 1 order 1 of each system. I hate BB.com. My madden HOF got backordered/cancelled.
God dammit I was all set to buy SH but now you're making me want Siren instead. Isn't that game available for download on PSN? Going to go check I think. For anyone that doesn't know it's the same thing as Siren: Blood Curse (I think..).

Edit: Ugh it's $40. Anyone really think it's worth it? Should I wait for a sale? Anyone want to gameshare?

Interesting video. With all of the free roam exploring I've been doing in games like the GTA series and Just Cause 2 as of late, chances are I'd be trying to walk those wires on the skycar system like a tight rope if possible to get to other previously unexplorable areas.;)

Yeah, I used a GC. Hopefully silent hill will go smoother.

I'm pretty sure there isn't.

I glanced at the Silent Hill PS3 case at my local store last week and didn't notice any sort of "exclusive DLC" extra or cover on it ala R: ORC. I didn't check the back of the UPC though if there was a taped UPC over it to signify any exclusive BB version ala Prototype 2 (although that one had the DLC sticker on the front case too).
