any luck using this in conjunction with a computer or some other device maybe even standalone? really considering picking this up if there are some customizable stuff the dev/homebrew community can use it with

Seems like a waste of space, but it's ALMOST tempting...

Maybe something like this? I might just have to buy it. Seems the PS3 version is a lot easier to get up and running.

Man, they just can't get rid of those uDraw tablets. Figured they'd be gone at $10, but I saw a fairly decent stack of them at my local Best Buy with $7.99 stickers. For $6 I might as well pick it upjust for the heck of it, I'm sure I'll manage to get that much use/entertainment from it.

Is there any way to use the Xbox 360 version of the pad as a PC tablet? I've seen the PS3 version working as one, but I wasn't able to find anything about custom drivers or whatnot for the 360 version. I'd prefer it on 360 since I already have a wireless adaptor for my PC (but not Bluetooth).

This is taken straight from the creators page:

For the Xbox 360 tablet, you must install a libusb driver for your USB wireless controller receiver. This means you CANNOT use it simultaneously with other controllers; you will have to manually switch back and forth between Microsoft's driver and the libusb one in Device Manager. If you're only using the wireless receiver for the tablet, then you don't need to worry about it.

Install LibUsbDotNet and then run its "USB InfWizard". Go through the wizard to generate a driver for the wireless receiver (you'll need to specify a location to save the driver files), and then click "Install Now" to install it.

Once you have it set up correctly, run the executable in the "bin" folder and double-click the notification area icon. You should see "PS3 uDraw Tablet Device" in green if using the PS3 tablet, or "Xbox 360 Wireless USB Receiver" in green if using the 360 tablet. If you see red instead, you haven't installed the driver correctly (or it's not connected to the PC).

Next, to sync the 360 tablet, hold down the Xbox Guide button on the tablet until the lights flash. You may need to hold down the sync button on the bottom of the tablet (and press the sync button on the USB wireless receiver) as well. When it is synced, the tablet will illuminate one of the four corners of the Xbox Guide button (same as when a controller is synced).

Seems there is a whole lot of more steps involved vs the PS3 tab. Which surprised me since I figured the 360 would be the easiest one to get working on the PC.
Bit on this one, if for no other reason that i had a $5 reward cert. burning a hole in my pocket and the purchase ultimately ended up costing me $1.05.

To anyone who might be thinking about pulling the trigger, and also wants Marvel Super Hero Squad, there's a seller on Amazon right now selling it for $7. Sure, it's $3 for the game and $4 for shipping, but still cheaper than $10 at bestbuy.

haha same thing here, for a dollar and change out of pocket i couldn't resist. now to try and pick up some cheap games for it.

Lmfao. Not wasting my Rzone certificate on this. I won't be shocked if they Brutal Legend/Duke Nukem this and have it for $2.99.

Ahh thanks, appreciate the info. Does sound like a bit of a pain to get the 360 version working. I'll probably use the PS3 version on the PC instead then.

Looking at the instructions, I didn't realize the PS3 version had its own USB dongle as well (while the 360 version uses the normal wireless controller frequency of the console, I guess). You'd think it could've just used Bluetooth instead on the PS3, but I suppose that makes it easier to work with if you don't already have a Bluetooth device. Too bad it doesn't seem to able to use pressure sensitivity on PC., but should be better at basic drawing tasks than a mouse would be anyway.

Isketch, here I come!

Sony doesn't allow that, hence third-party wireless controllers and arcade sticks use those inconvenient dongles.

A piece of the Berlin Wall or the Titanic would be more analogous.

i agree thats y i bought this...wont b openin it

considering what happened to thq i wont be surprised if bestbuy does more deals to clearance out older thq titles like u draw, homefront, red faction, darksiders 1 and saints row the third reg edition to name a few. hope saints row gets super cheap soon

You know, those U-draw tablets might be a good way to play RTS games on PC from the couch! Think I might get one! (The PS3 one of course, so it's less of a hassle to get it to work on PC)
haha same thing here, for a dollar and change out of pocket i couldn't resist. now to try and pick up some cheap games for it.
haha same here too...n for one to try this PC tablet stuff people yappin bout...worst case the daught can play with it. weeeeee!

Wow! Udraw killed THQ! Wonder why they thought this will be a hit on conoles! Sheeesh! Well getting a piece of history for $6 is nice!

Another thing after watching the vid on p.42 (thanks eXiON!):

I got moto gp3 on the pc, but it's not compatible with DirectX drivers on Vista, so I can't use my logitech controller...I can only use the keyboard to control the bike, which is a nightmare, rendering the game useless to me.

But with this tablet and driver, it looks like I can assign the keyboard keys to the tablet keys and use the tablet to play the game! Am i right?!?!

What the hell - even though I never opened the PS3 one I got a year and a half ago (for $30 or $40 - d'oh!) I picked up a 360 one for $6 (well, actually 99 cents after a $5 RZ coupon I got from My Coke Rewards).

I'm still not sure why, but there you go ;).
Do those RZ points expire?
You mean the ones from MCR?

The MCR email says this: "Be sure to use your code before it expires on 1/31/14.". Now, I'm not sure if that is just when the MCR code to get the $5 in RZ points expires - but probably it is. I think once you put them on your RZ account I think they are just like any other RZ points and stay forever (or as long as the RZ program/Best Buy still exists ;)).

Coming next week:

Best Buy Deal of the Day
uDraw Tablet and Instant Artist Game- Free with any purchase

Coming 2 weeks from now:

Best Buy Deal of the Day
uDraw Tablet and Instant Artist Game- Free & $5 Reward Zone Cert for each one of these you take off our hands.

Coming 3 weeks from now:
uDraw Tablet and Instant Artist Game- We give up. Dumpster City. (Dumpster then spits them out.)

Sucks that this POS helped tank THQ.

The uDraw isn't a POS at all. It's a nice little tablet, and Pictionary is quite fun. THQ just overpriced it (probably unavoidable) and made way too many of them.

Well I had one of these in 1990 and it was called VideoPainter and was made by Sony oddly enough. So its a 20 year old idea that they priced the way they did and banked huge on it. I can just see the marketing guys hyping the crap out of this thing as the "next thing in gaming".

So maybe not a POS but sorely disappointing.

I've been telling people for months not to buy this because it would be cheaper. I'm not sure why people were so agitated and angry about my posts in the past but here it is, the price so many said it would never hit. It's time to buy for the folks that have been waiting.

I think people were mad at me for pointing out that they were paying more than they have to for it. Same thing with my Wii U comments and my comments that the 720 will be announced in a couple months. Oh but you're all right, I'm a fanboy....of common sense.

How many of these devices did they make? It surely was a strong catalyst to have crippled THQ. And now THQ is out of business :( WTF!

I bought this game for $10 for my kid, he played it once and never touched it again. I tried playing it and it's pretty hard to do. I would easily take my $10 back, wouldn't spend $6 on it either.

They took a 100 million dollar write down from them so if imagine they made 1 million for each of the HD consoles.

I think some people expect too much. Myself as well as both of my sons enjoy using the udraw. The art aspect of it is pretty neat. Lots of designs to choose from, and what kid doesn't like to color?

No. People were insulting me and trying to shame me for telling people this would be cheaper.
No. People were insulting me and trying to shame me for telling people this would be cheaper.
This is CAG, what did you really expect? Start using your ignore feature, it works like a charm. Trust me, I have plenty of people on it :)

While UDraw Instant Artist isn't that amazing (but it is just 'alright'). I think I may start using this tablet as a PC mouse when sitting on the couch. It's much slower than using a traditional mouse, but for a HTPC, when you're not at a desk, it's not too bad when you only use it briefly to play media (no mouse scroll feature though).

Kind of bummed about this. I picked up the Wii version for $10 at Walmart's Black Friday and was excited until I saw the Gamestop deal. Since I found out my parents were getting my son an XBox 360 and one of my local Gamestops had the 360 version and not the Wii version, I put one on hold. When I got there, they said someone else had already picked up my reservation. I was pretty furious with them, as my son had been wanting the Super Hero Squad uDraw game for a while, and this was my chance to get it cheap. Plus I realized it was easier to share the pictures he drew from the Xbox than it was the Wii (which I knew he would want to do for his grandparents). I went ahead and gave him the Wii version uDraw, which he was pretty excited about. He played it once and put it away, but it's mostly because he's been obsessed with his XBox and Skylanders game he got. I'm sure he would play it some more if he had it for the XBox. For $6, I would have used one of my rewards certificates to pick it up, but it's not available for shipping and not available in any stores in my area :(.

I do see the PS3 version availabe in my area. I'm debating on buying it and exchanging it elsewhere. I'm pretty sure I saw them at Walmart.

That's what I'd do in your situation.

My five and seven year old girls love the u draw and its games especially the art studio and the princess game. Too bad this didn't work out as it could have been a decent peripheral, but thq obviously put too much into it initially and only released a couple games for it on ps3 and 360. That made it easy to choose the wii version which has more games. For $6 I'll get a second as a back up in case it breaks. The cord does worry me a little.

The worst part for me is that after playing it a few times I find that for me (and my daughter) we'd rather draw on the iPad and now I'm stuck with this useless tablet.

I'm considering going the CheapyD route and throwing it in the trash.

I figure this is worth it at the price point where a Blockbuster videogame rental was at not so many years ago. N for 1

off topic, but bestbuy could not possibly be making any money off this at this price. It is like a firesale ,lol

I got this from BB when it was $13(ish) before xmas. Had customer service give me $3 credit earlier this month when they had it for $10. Should I still be able to price match again? Did xmas purchases have any extended matching period or anything? I'm not Silver Rewards.

I enjoyed it for what it was. For the price of a movie, I got a few hours of entertainment out of it and then sold it. I always had an interest in art so I was actually trying the art tutorials and was happy with my finished masterpieces. We played pictionary as a family a few times. My 8 yr old enjoyed it but I know he would eventually lose interest. Some of the color mazes on Pictionary are challenging.

Sold or traded everything in and got most of my money back weeks ago before the game trade in values tanked.

Last time Best Buy had this on sale I dropped around $50 on a uDraw and all the relevant games (Everything but like the Disney Princesses one and the Kung Fu Panda one) and it's a pretty neat little package, though I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it.
