grabbed one. kinda ticked I couldn't use my $5 RZ to get it free, but a little over $7 shipped & tax ain't bad either. my kids are loving Diablo 3, can't wait to show them the originals.

It used to include the original. At some point a few years back, they removed it. I have a version that had it which I got from GameStop back then.
Maybe they didn't want to include the game itself and leave out the Hellfire expansion (which was created by a 3rd part developer)? Silly reason, but that's all I got.

I still have my originals, so I never considered the battle chest.

What plus said. Most people on here openly say "Ill buy this to throw in the backlog and Ill never get to it." And if its not that than the other CAGs buy games just to flip. I feel like few people actually play most of the games they buy here.

Not hating on anyone though.
Which begs the question, why buy these games if you're not going to play them? If I'm not with my gf or at work I'm playing games. As a matter of fact that's all I've done for the past 30 years. Don't buy games I'm not going to play, rather spend the money on something else that would be useful in life. Like a TV or a laptop.

Some use the boxes to build a wife.

Stopped by my Best Buy today, they really only had very recent PC games. I thought about just leaving but I decided to ask if they had it in stock, they looked it up and said they could get it shipped to my house with free shipping. I said sure but they passed me off to another girl who said the shipping would be $1.99, but then the original girl came back and said, no the shipping is free, and insisted on it, as if she knew I'd walk out if it wasn't. So they adjusted my shipping to a penny and sent me on my way. Yeah my victory was only $1.99, but pretty satisfied with customer service, and it satisfied my inner CAG.

Knowingly buying a game that you don't intend to play is pretty stupid. Its as stupid as buying clothes you wont wear or music you wont listen to (or am I the only one that pays for music?).

I developed a backlog of 50+ but I realized it and diagnosed the problem.

I was buying cheap (but good) games because the THOUGHT of sitting back and relaxing while playing it made me feel good. The IDEA that I will have free time to enjoy it made me want to buy the games.

Unfortunately in life you rarely have enough time to do the things you want, so the only benefit I got from many of those games was just the brief feeling that I WILL eventually play the games.

Ive had to admit to myself that games like dragon age 2, DA origins, far cry 2 (might as well play 3 now), enslaved, crysis 2 will probably never be played.

To make up for my previous stupidity I am probably gonna wait 2-3 years before I buy a ps4

I don't mind building up a back catalog especially at the end of a console cycle. Next-gen can always wait till the slim version comes out 2-3 years later. Plenty of time to catch up.

My backlog isn't too bad:

Sly 4

Ni No Kuni

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 (I've already played the originals, just wanted HD)

Sly Cooper Collection ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Jak and Daxter Collection ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Halo 4

Oblivion (or should I just buy Skyrim?)

Beyond Good and Evil

Xenoblade

Kirby Epic Yarn

Fire Emblem 3DS

Professor Layton 5

These are games I own. If I included ones I WANT to play, than I'd add about 10 more. I've seen people with a lot worse. LOL

Unless you're only referring to the current generation, I would be surprised if there weren't a lot on this site not in the triple digits. I easily passed this a few generations ago.

This is so me. I got a great deal on Mass Effect Trilogy. I know I'll love it if I play it. I was excited to buy it. But realistically speaking, I'll never even start it because I can't commit the time to finish it -- especially with the sort of regularity/continuity necessary to get the most out of an RPG.

I'm actually looking forward to Vita Remote Play with the PS4. I think being able to play without taking the TV away from the wife and kids will give me more opportunities to play slow-paced games that I can't touch now.

speaking of mass effect, i still have not finish mass effect 2 , and still got mass effect 3 in my backlog. with still so many other upcoming games coming out i want to play. i doubt i will have time to play it, so i traded in to bestbuy during the trade 3 for extra $15 promo

It's simple just buy a lot of RPG's. I probably have that same backlog as I just keeping buying games while trying to complete other games >,<
Its particularly the 'complete' qualifier that ballooned my backlog. Playing through a game once doesn't usually take too long. Getting the plat though means I'm often doing 2+ playthroughs. So the backlog keeps expanding.

Holy crap. How did you manage that? O_O
The income of an adult, combined with being on cag and knowing which threads to follow so that when a game does hit that sweet price you buy it. Plus factor in that we just are more likely to go out, buy a game, and then just play whatever is in the console.

My problem is that when I finally have time to sit down and play (especially when I want to start a new game), I will spend a good 20 minutes going over my shelf to decide what to play. Eventually, I can't decide and say "fuck it, I'm tired anyways so I'll just put on a movie." This is a weekly occurrence for me.

Having too many choices overloads my indecisiveness.

Eyes bigger than my stomach I guess. I also tend to replay some games that I like a lot multiple times instead of playing something new. Collecting is part of the fun for me, so I don't mind owning some games that I know it's going to take me a while to get around to. I've got the rest of my life right? I'm not planning on getting a next-gen system anytime soon though, so 2014 will be a year of catch-up hopefully.

I do the same thing, but I tend to play the same game every night, watch a movie, or I choose a game -but then I research it on amazon to see what it is selling for before I decide to open it. I do that with everything unfortunately. Then if I decide to open it, I always read the instructions. I've been doing that since the days of atari. One day they will write psychology books about me. :whee:

I feel like having a kid changed some of my hoarding behavior. Not nearly as much in the budget to buy every good deal. I've been playing a lot more games to completion or for longer.

I'm fairly certain my backlog is 4 digits, and that's NOT including digital (Steam, PS+, etc). :(

Absolutely. As a kid had no money and tons of time. I got 1-2 games a year so better believe I played the crap out of a game and when I got a new one poured into it that week. My total NES collection was around a dozen games and I played all of them for hours.

Now? I have money, but my time is so precious with my business and social life that I have to make a commitment "tonight I will play mor eon that game". I noticed how I play collecting platform games is more "Main line it! Beat the game!" rather than old days of "Find all the secrets, 100% this, why not beat it again!" mentality.

Younger me jaw would drop to see my PS3 collection is now around 80 games, and yes I have yet to complete about 12 of them.

The worst part about having a backlog is that even though I have lots of new games I want to play, I also have lots of games that I've already beaten and want to play again.
