▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

What's BBs price adjustment policy? If I grabbed AC:O on Friday, could I adjust to a Black Friday price for example?
I'm about 95% sure your will not be allowed to price match on black Friday prices. I remember trying to do that last year and receiving a hard no on the issue but I could be wrong

Sidenote: If I haven't received my $10 rewards for South park yet should I be worried. I really wanted to use it on Mario but I don't think think it will happen. (Customer service said there's nothing I can do for 15 days).

No, I haven't received mine either.

I just was wondering if Destiny 2 on PC qualified for the $10 certificate. I know it's too late but I had no idea that BB allowed GCU on PC games so please tell me so I can bang my head against the keyboard
I was. It's a physical copy that I'm getting delivered tomorrow.

Just went to pre-order Mario Odyssey and the expected delivery date was next Wednesday so I went with in-store pickup at a store with a midnight launch. Hopefully you guys that ordered it with shipping won't have to wait that long. I'd also like to change Assassin's Creed to store pickup but the site won't let me access my purchase history...

Price matching and price adjustments are definitely not offered during Black Friday weekend. It is explicitly stated during the store meeting to not even waste your time with anyone who asks for such a thing.

I am debating if it is better to prorder assassin creed for the $10 bonus or target getv 2 get 2 free deal.
Depends on what your second game is... If it's something that you know will go down in price by black Friday or later I'll just go with best buy that way you will save 20% (if you got GCU) get $10 in rewards. At lease this way you get to choose later plus by the time you beat creed the next game you want is bound to be cheaper

I went ahead and changed my Super Mario Odyssey from shipping to in store pick up since there hasn't been any movement and with last week's Fire Emblem Warriors getting delayed I am not taking a chance

Pre-ordered and picked up Destiny PC today, but i don't have any pending points on my account...
It can take up to 15 days even to show pending. My FIFA points never even showed pending as it went from nothing the first 14 days to getting the points on the 15th. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Just give it time and they will post.

Don't be like some people here who call after 2 or 3 days hoping they'll get some idiot to add them so they can double up when they actually do post later.

The thing is i wonder if assassin creed will have a drop before black frioday. At best buy it would be 48+ tax and there is $10 certificate. At target it would be $44 ish after tax for me

How are you guys changing to in store pickup? Are you calling in? My order won't let me make any changes

mine finally moved to preparing... we'll see if it arrives on friday.

Odd that other people are able to change their online preorders, my call of duty preorder is obviously not processing yet, but make changes is greyed out

I'll be shocked if Odyssey shows up on friday... they haven't even shipped it... it's FEW all over again  :censored:

I usually don’t get a shipping notification until the day before around noon. It’ll still say awaiting pickup until around 7 but by 6:30am it’ll be out for delivery.

Just got the dreaded “update your payment” notice. I had ordered this during the Visa Checkout promo last year and the CC I had tied to the account was compromised and I was issued a new one w new number.

Same here. Not sure what the best way to handle it is and not have to fight with CS over the extra $12 off.

I would go through the Best Buy forums when you try and get it adjusted.  They adjusted my Visa Checkout order for me...though it was a local BB that messed my order up, not a compromised card.

definitely take screencaps of your order with the promo still visible before you do anything, and hopefully you still also have your emails from when you placed your order that show the total.

From my experience, best buy support has been a joke. Took them two weeks just to get my GCU activated with hundreds of others having the same issue if you look on their forums.

Ah, yes, I forgot to mention this. I was fortunate enough where I had a screencap of my order before the local store botched it. This made it much easier to explain.

I just placed an order for Odyssey and it gave the free coin and allowed in store pickup, the 500 points should still post since its still pre order.  So if you're on the fence I'd say go for it, $38+tax plus a coin is a great deal.  This is my second copy too, I'm already picking one up at gamestop but it'll be a great holiday gift and even with b2g1 it won't get cheaper than $40 and no free coin.

No movement on my Wolfenstein and Mario Odyssey pre-orders.

Same with me and in addition to my Mario Odyssey amiibo. Really hope they ship by this afternoon because next day delivery from BB is not uncommon in my experience (though I am Elite Plus).

Mario and assassin's Creed shipped for me. One ups, the other FedEx. Will see what happens, Mario is showing Friday still, but assassin's Creed is showing saturday.

I'm just Elite now. My purchases have really gone down over the past couple years now with Prime and other options. Kinda mad they changed the shipping options / prices too.

Yeah; definitely hope they ship out today.

I changed my payment info and now I’m charged $80 for Mario? Is it because they’re making me payback my promo cash from the other game on my order? I might as well just cancel and reorder right?

Update : Wolfenstein has shipped. The bad news : Via FedEx at end of the day on Saturday. Mario is now preparing. This will probably be the last time I pre-order a game from Best Buy. The discounts are awesome but their shipping is inconsistent now. I specifically took off tomorrow to play these games all day. I know if I pre-ordered via Amazon they'd be guaranteed delivery on release date. This is horseshit. Sorry; needed to vent.

Same happened to me. If you cancel they will still charge full price for the previous game. I'm going to post on the forums and see if I can get $25 refunded to my card.

My advice? Go to your closest Walmart or target and buy them tomorrow when the store opens. Then when you get your bb Order return those copies with the receipt. It’s extra driving but your day off isn’t completely wasted.

Thanks for your advice, but that would mean paying full price. 5% off at the most if I were to use Redcard.

You’d be returning the unopened bestbuy copies with the target receipt to get the money back from the full price copies.

That doesn't sound like a very honest thing to do at all.
How? You bought a brand new copy for $X. You are returning a brand new copy for $X back with receipt. How is that not honest?

I'd be returning the copies from Best Buy to Target. I don't know; I just don't feel right about doing that.

My life is a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode. If anything were to happen to anyone from this, it would be me.

Just trust me on this one.

You're using the copies from Walmart as a free rental while the store that screwed you over gets the benefit of the sale. If not illegal, it's certainly unethical.

Seems fine to me. It's one thing if you purchased a copy from say Walmart and then returned it to Target without ever having purchased it there, but if you actually purchased the game from Target, and then returned the Best Buy copy to Target, what are they really losing?

My copy of Odyssey is still "Preparing." It seems unlikely that I'll be getting it tomorrow. Best Buy is two for two with late shipments for me this month.

I'm still not understanding how it's unethical. That implies that there's damage being done to a party. Who is being damaged here?

Target doesn't miss out on any profit/sale, because you weren't going to buy the game there anyway. They're also not getting a lesser product returned to them, because you're returning a sealed game.

Just interested, for those who think it's unethical, can you elaborate further? Besides being a somewhat pain in the ass of going to Target twice to buy and return the game, not seeing any issue here.

I suppose in theory technically target would need to reinventory the item, and if stock is low during the day or so that the copy in your possession isn't available for sale then that store could miss out on a sale.
