▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

I posted this in the PS5 thread, but does Best Buy even send out notifications when there is a TotalTech sale? Seems like somebody just stumbled upon the PS5 being on sale and shared it yesterday.

I struggle to see the logic of having “exclusive sales” for a paid service, and then not advertising said exclusive sales. They have no issues with spamming me about their garbage outlet sales though.

Yeah, I have no idea about that... I don't know anyone who actually has TotalTech at this point.

Thinking about it over the last day, I may actually save some money at Best Buy if I had a TotalTech subscription because I wouldn't try to spend $3500 to get all of the Elite Plus benefits... .but that would be rewarding them with a subscription because they took my old benefits away and that's something I definitely don't want to do.

I suspect most of the people that are elete plus got it via the credit card. Any purchase counts towards the 3500 (or did). I am kind of pissed because I had already qualified for 2023 elite plus. They also did not have the early access sale for EP last year. I am a shareholder and former employee and this is enough for me to be done. Very bad move...

Does anyone have Total Tech?  Are the discounts on games any good?  I've seen the tags in the store and they can be $5-20 off.  I but a crap ton of games so the $200 may be worth it with the fast shipping too.

No, total tech is a really bad deal overall. The value was when it initially launched and people were flipping PS5s and GPUs because they were gated behind it and very few people had it. If you were going to buy a bunch of appliances from Best Buy all at once then it might have a slightly better value proposition due to the protection plan stuff but even that is pretty iffy these days.

I’m out here, uh oh, just waiting for my elden ring steelbook that will get cancelled if not fulfilled by April 7. Cmon bestbuy tf I’ve seen it get restocked this week

I got an update payment email for skywalker, but there's nowhere on order to do it. I can only 'view payment details'
That happened to me before with GameStop and the only way to fix it is to call Cs and have them do it on their end. It's incredibly dumb.

I think what BB fails to grasp is people won't remember the PS5 shortage: they'll remember having to pay a fee through them just to buy one. Very stupid decisions indeed.
