▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

Oh and I also tweeted at best buy (seriously) about not receiving an email pickup notice but the order status saying it's ready for pickup. They said I should be able to pick up my copy tonight.
Good to hear. No emails here either for Assassin's Creed or Mario but both orders also say "ready for pickup" on the website.

You had to buy 2 games for that visa checkout deal. $80 sounds like you bought 2 games with GCU, not just Mario

Mario for $80 is fullblown canadian
Yep looks like they’re charging me again for splatoon 2 which was also on the order and paid for in August. Hopefully they will correctly update the Mario total.

something sounds really off then, im gonna keep an eye on my own order to be sure. Splatoon+Mario Odyssey is the same exact 2 games i put in together

I guess I waited too long to get the $10 preorder reward. It is still listed on the site but not on the game page. Had to be placed by 5pm CST. I did it one hour too late.
Are you sure that is for orders done online? It only mentions 5PM CT for Best Buy Orders placed in the store even though I don't see it on it's own page anymore.

Can I order this by 12 Midnight CST and still get the $10 reawards?

nope, once 5 CST hits the $10 reward over the game on best buy.com goes away.

I made that mistake a year ago.

I totally forgot about the poster when I picked mine up and it wasn't offered either. I was a few minutes late to the launch but there were only 3 people already checking out when I got inside the store. A few more arrived after I did but it makes me question why they would even bother paying people to open the store for such a small crowd. I wonder what the crowds were like at Gamestop...

I went to Best Buy half hour after they started selling the games because I didn't want to wait in line.  I was expecting problems picking up the games because I did not get a "ready to pickup" email, even though my account states it's ready.  When I arrived, they could not find my pre-order for Mario/ACO on their computer, then they looked and found my games with my name on it.

Got home and looked on my account and could not find my pre-order for Mario and AC Origins.  Any one else experience this?

I had to give the clerk the order numbers since they couldn't find them using my phone number and I ended up with copies that didn't have a sticker with my name on it like pickups usually do so that was a bit concerning. Then my AC and Mario pre-orders disappeared from my purchase history right after I picked them up like yours did but they are showing now. Give it an hour or so then check again.

I second that. There was around 10 employees just behind the counter and front door. I would think most got off at 9pm. I didn't get it, I walked out of best buy at 9:02pm is what my phone said. The parking lot was dead and no one else was walking up to the store. I haven't done a midnight launch in a couple of years. The girl told me who helped out said they were staying open till 930 for the preorders.

I remember the good old days of Halo2 and the hundreds of people all waiting, them handing out prizes and doing Halo tournaments. Those days are long gone.

I arrived to my store at 9:30 and I only saw employees hanging out. Hell, one employee was buying a copy for himself. Can't imagine them being open for more than an hour.

They did give me a poster too.

Thanks. I re-checked my purchase history just now and the pre-orders are back. Odd.

I can see West Coast stores staying open until 9:30 since it's not a whole lot of extra effort. I'm in the Midwest so the employees had to hang around for two extra hours for such a small crowd. I guess most that are hyped enough about a game to want it ASAP go digital these days.

Picked up both AC:Origins and Super Mario Odyssey last night and already received my points. Pre-ordered a month ago for both. Not sure if being Elite Plus helps or not.

My copy of Odyssey is sitting somewhere with the shipping "Label Created" according to FedEx. Of course, the coin is happily traveling to my house in a different FedEx box today.

I got shipping e-mail for Mario Odyssey yesterday evening, and BB sent it via Ontrac. Game and coin are in same package and scheduled for delivery today. :D

Was my Best Buy the only one who had 40+ people in line at the midnight launch (9pm PST)? I was too lazy to stick around since I'd miss the poster anyway.

I got the $10 certificate for Odyssey but they still haven't shipped the  :censored: game...

Just received an email from bestbuy that the pin/coin/whatever bonus from Mario Odyssey is not available at the store I preordered at. I preordered like 5 or 6 months ago. Anyone else get this?

I personally don’t care but I’ll complain to them just over the principal of it.

Oh boy, My tracking number for Mario is stuck at "Ready for ups", its a next day air saver too, just my luck, I hope it isn't lost.

I'm so annoyed that my copy of Mario is delayed. It won't even give me more information than that. Just "if we haven't shipped it by Nov. 26, we'll just cancel it" like they're doing me some sort of favor. Why would they even ship the coin separately? It's like they're running some racket. Promise people release day arrival, a $10 certificate, and a free coin, then ship the coin but cancel the game. That way they won't be giving out the certificate and they can take $20 off the refund for the game because the buyer already received the coin.

Well that sucks. I guess Best Buy Super Mario Odyssey and the target red blue joycon switch going back. Probably a good thing since I would have only played Mario for the most part. I will just wait for a better deal this year or next.

This is exactly why they are only doing 3 midnight releases this year. It's not really worth the expense unless you are going to sell at least 40 games.

Got my $10 reward zone too

Unfortunate thing though, it gave me $15 because I have more than 250 points (less than 500) so it gave me the $10 for mario, and forced me to use that $5 amount of points i had.

Not a big deal though, as long as there's a B1G1 deal on switch games, I'll use it.

This coin is unnecessary, why did they bother? 20% is already enough to convince me to always buy here anyways

Tracking number finally updated, rescheduled for Monday, I'm not doing any more mail pre-orders from best buy anymore, this is the third time my order been delayed in the past few months.

I've never done mail pre-orders, and it's because of my fear of this is happening.

If I want something bad enough to pre-order, I need that game asap and guaranteed. I don't care some people get it a day early

Actually that isn't true as I ordered a few minutes before 11PM CST on October 26th and I'm receiving my points. So the 5PM CST is just for pre-orders done in store. At least we both know now.

I received my $10 credit on Saturday right after buying SMO Thursday night at 9pm. I was impressed by how fast that was; However, I still haven't received my 500 points for preordering South Park: Fractured But Whole. Anyone else still waiting on their rewards points for that game?

I'm in the same boat with south park just keeping my receipts ready and waiting the 15 days

Quick question. I am planning on pre ordering two copies of Call of Duty but am wondering if I get the rewards for one copy or both of them.

Here is the COD WWII lenticular zombie print that is available Friday. Not sure how they will be given out since there is no specific mention of them in the ad or on the website. They appear to be part of bundles that are only available for shipping so maybe they will be free with the season pass like with Destiny 2.

Did anyone get reward points for Destiny 2 PC version? I already got points for Mario Odyssey, but nothing shows up for Destiny (not even pending).

Just received the mystery certificate e-mail. Check your e-mail, folks. If anything, it's another $5 off! $32.99 for COD; not too shabby.

Can you get the code to use that online? I got one too but want to preorder online to get the $10 rewards. Or do I have to do it in Store?

Unfortunately, it requires going to the store. Archaic; I know.
